PayPal is probably safest for all concerned. I sold my husband's old rig to a guy in Brazil, and the PayPal transaction was flawless and safe for both of us. I bought a rig from Canada the same way. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda

Pelt Head Boogie!! July 13-15
peregrinerose replied to peregrinerose's topic in Events & Places to Jump
I've never been anywhere near a wing suit, but would love to give it a whirl. My husband would probably be game as well. Kyle (Floats18) has a couple of wing suit jumps and I know he'd jump at a chance to do another. Contact Kathie (manifest@skydivingcenter.net) about setting something up. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda -
With your 'advance knowldedge of finance and accounting' (sorry, that made me snicker given your advice here), you should know that student loans are for school and living expenses. Somehow I doubt that a rig counts under that. You tell me which makes more financial sense.. Choice 1: spending $7000 on new gear with very low jump numbers and paying interest on that $7000, then reselling the gear in 100-200 jumps for only $5000 (while still finishing the payments on the initial loan. Choice #2 Pack for the summer, make more than enough money for a good used rig at $2000 (plus enough for jumpsuit, altimeter, lots of jumps, etc), jumping that for 100-200 jumps, re-selling it for $1800 and not have incurred any debt to do it. Part of good debt managment includes not incurring unnecessary debt! Given that I graduated with $126K in student loan debt, I'm pretty sure that I know a thing or two about the pros and cons of them as well as some basics of debt management Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda

It had a few rips on non-MD professions that were unnecessary, but the main points were all good ones. Too bad a vast majority of docs/health care practitioners don't follow those guidelines Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda

Don't go into debt for a rig, that's silly. Save your pennies. I work as a packer to pay for all my skydiving expenses. You could probably save enough in one summer of packing to pay for a decent used rig. Believe me, when you've graduated and are stuck making the student loan payments, you'll wish you got into debt as little as possible. I've been writing $2000/month checks for seven years now to the student loan people... it's painful when you have to pay for it. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda

Your wish is my command, boss... I'm on it! Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda -
I just cringed a little bit to hear that. How are those same students going to react after jumping at a dz where landing patterns are not actively encouraged when they go to a boogie with 30+ other canopies in the sky? Landing pattern, at least to me, is part of surviving a skydive. People who have no landing pattern that is even remotely predictable can cause big problems. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda

Yep, Logun's the guy to talk to about car pooling. I agree with Kyle, watch out for him We should know... we shared a hotel with him in Dublin! I hope you plan to enter the cabana boy contest, it should be a lot of fun... the more liquered up the ladies are, the more entertaining the pudding wrestling will probably be. Congrats guys. But I'm going to miss all of you that headed to Chambersburg.... you were a lot of fun! And as a group, I've never met more people truly appreciative of packers. We loved packing for you! I hope your packers know how lucky they are!!!! Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda

Mostly the instructor... but in the end, who is responsible for your skydive? You are. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda

I've had bounce dreams where other people bounce or the plane crashes, but I haven't dream bounced yet. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda

How cute! I have a stumpy tail cattle dog, related to heelers (mine's mostly red). She's the sweetest dog on the planet. Her mission in life is to make the world love her, she's extremely eager to keep us happy. They have the best personalities!! Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda

I have a stumpy tail cattle dog, from the humane league. She's a lot like regular cattle dogs and aussie sheppards with the herding instinct, she'll snap and click her teeth when she's herding something. She's great with kids, will herd them, is energetic, so may knock them over, but the most damage she'll do is slobber them to death She's by far the most loyal and intelligent of our dogs, very attentive to verbal commands and a total attention whore. I agree with everyone else in that she does require lots of exercise and likes to have a 'job' to do. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda

Putting a little plain yogurt in with the dog food also helps with gas issues. Works wonders in my greyhound. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda

It pisses me off too, which is why all my animals are rescues. Lucy is a really sweet snake, wonderful to handle. I can't imagine why someone would abandon her. I took care of a Burmese all through college, he was the bio department mascot. That's what got me started with snakes. I'd love to rescue one but my husband vetoed having a snake that large in the house. Maybe someday.... It took me 2 years to convince him to accept a ball python. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda

You'd be surprised how many people release their pet snakes when they get bored with them. I have a snake now that I adopted from a reptile rescue that was probably dumped by the owner. It was found sunning on someone's driveway, and ball pythons are not native to PA Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda

Well said. I wouldn't leave any young child/toddler/infant alone with any dog under any circumstances. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda

I disagree. I have an upper right arm sleeve that covers an older and poorly done tatt. It was no problem at all, not any more or less uncomfortable in the cover up area than the rest of the arm. I think it's more that you just kinda forget the discomfort until you have to go back and have it done again. Some body parts in general hurt more than others. I have one that took 3 hours around my ankle, that fucker HURT. My upper arm was 8 hours and no problem at all. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda

I have extremely exciting news about the Pelt Head boogie... we have a world famous celebrity judge added to the roster for the Pudding wrestling competition.... Handsome Dave Dewolf!!! Rumor has it, he is also going to be competing in the cabana boy competition... My money's on him to win -
First find out exactly what the student sees.... 'blind' does not mean sees nothing in a majority of cases. Over 90% of people who are legally blind have functional, usable vision. Don't assume that they can't see things... ask what they can see... some may be able to read the altimeter, some may be able to see well enough to find the handle to pull themselves (or you may want to teach them to find the handle non visually to pull if you are a TM that lets students do that...give them some control). If you know what eye condition they have, let me know, I can probably help let you know what they can/can't see based on that, at least in general terms. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
