  1. Definitely not. Although the timing couldn't have been better... my repack was due next week anyway I'm just delighted with myself that I wasn't remotely scared, more irritated at the prospect of losing my gear since there was no way I could follow my shit down.... all trees and houses and power lines where it was going and VERY annoyed with myself for having packed myself a line over somehow. 2. I am sooooooooo excited that I can finally freaking vote on this poll!!!!!!! My first chop was yesterday. A lineover. My final thought before chopping was "Crap, I owe two cases of beer for this". It was my first chop and my first save as rigger Stand up landing, kept my handles, got my main and free bag back. All kinds of fun. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  3. Hmmmm, Kyle, did you notice this thread? http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2906803;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread I think Rosemary's been dumped. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  4. I hate the glossiness... makes it harder to read at the gym with the glare of the lights. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  5. I lost my first 50 or so lbs in part due to Tae Bo... love those tapes :-) Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  6. If it makes her happy to hear it and costs you nothing but a few seconds to say it, why would you be so resistant to showing her love in a way she needed to see it? My husband and I both say I love you frequently to each other... always before bed and when we get up in the morning, most of time on the phone. It's not reflex either... we both mean it when we say it. We both like hearing it and both like saying it. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  7. I'm not going to weigh in this week... This weekend was our birthdays, so I ate a LOT. Back on track now, and going to weigh in sometime next week That way I know I at least will have lost whatever I gained. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  8. Which Bloomsburg? The one near Reading? Then come to Chambersburg
  9. There's nothing wrong with being bitter and angry. Sounds like you have plenty of reason to be. But you are also getting a chance to say goodbye to a parent that at the very least was a good provider (your words). It's been 8 years....people change. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  10. Is there something your husband is in to that you are not? Would you want to be hearing about something that you have no interest in constantly? I wouldn't! Relax, share your excitement here or with other jumpers, understand that it's perfectly ok for your husband not to share your passion. I know this first hand... my husband jumped before we met and for 2 years after we were married before I even considered heading to the DZ myself. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  11. Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!! Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  12. I'm with everyone else.. the odds of it posing a safety problem are slim, but it's still stupid to be smoking while packing. There's no way in hell I'd let someone smoke anywhere near my gear. As a packer, it's easy to tell who smokes in their house/car with their rig there.... some of the canopies absolutely STINK from it when packing. Our non-rigger packers are very well supervised by a master rigger, often two of them. No food or drink is allowed anywhere near the packing area. I think the DZO would probably have a massive coronary if anyone tried to smoke while packing.... that packer would most likely find himself out of work. No one is allowed to smoke while wearing student gear as well. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  13. I don't really like or dislike anyone online... it's too hard to read nuances into words, there's more to communication and relationships than typing and reading. I haven't met very many DZ.commers, but those I have were wonderful people. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  14. I agree with Popsjumper 100%... and I had a seizure disorder for several years (haven't had one in many years now), so can see both sides of this acutely. Someone who is refusing medication based on 'side effects' hasn't tried enough meds or worked well enough with their doctor and doesn't understand how seizures work and long term effects on the brain. The fact that she isn't taking the seizures seriously enough is the first red flag. Second is that she didn't disclose this to the DZ to begin with.... other people need to know what to look for in her with regard to her seizures. Other people need to make educated decisions regarding getting in the plane with someone with a known seizure disorder that is only a few months seizure free and not taking meds to control them. Third... a few months seizure free is meaningless. A few years seizure free would be better. I'm not saying she shouldn't jump... more needs to be known about her condition... what kind of seizures? (grand mal? Petit mal? Partial? Simple vs. complex?) What are her symptoms? Does she get an aura before the seizures? What triggers her seizures? Is she still under a neurologist's care? Did her neurologist OK her jumping? Jen Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  15. I'll volunteer. PM me with whatever you need. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  16. Chambersburg doesn't get away with much... that fridge is almost always overflowing and the beer board full of names. I am the beer nazi and do my job well Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  17. I LOVE that movie!!! Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  18. It's a little farther than that, 18ish feet, but is going to depend on the how the person is built too... people with big melon heads and wider interpupillary distances would have a little more, smaller interpupillary distance would have a little less range. 19. As reigning Chambersburg beer marshall, my policy is one case absolves all beer penalties. Unless you take months to get your name off the beer board, then I'll start adding cases as 'interest'. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  20. There are 10 or so cues to determining depth. Without binocularity (both eyes working together), you have no stereopsis (3D movies, 'magic' pictures, etc). But even with one eye closed you can still perceive depth based on relative size, distance, etc. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  21. Selena did one, Norris the other. JR has copies of both. I have some stills from the second peltway at home, but the actual formation was kind of blurred. Some nice exit shots though. Give me your email and I'll forward some to you. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  22. Elmo told me he was going to give you a lap dance too, but had a hard time seeing who he was in front of due to the way the outfit was built. I wonder who that shameless hussy was that grabbed his banana??? I have heard that Harold gives a hell of a foot rub, I've never experienced it though... you have me a bit jealous there! And "I've been mooned by Dave Dewolf" bumper stickers would be hilarious! Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  23. Chambersburg PA isn't much farther than Maytown, it's right over the border from Hagerstown. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  24. She's probably recovering from the Pelt Head Boogie... she even managed to get a brief lap dance from Bondage Elmo and a foot rub out of Harold. Lucky lady!!!!! Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
