  1. Now I NEVER said no PJ bashing forever, definitely only for this thread!! I'm sure we can all come up with PJ bashing on other threads though, and that's fair game. Definitely need a poll though... PeacefulJeffrey, PostalJeffrey, or just plain PJ Poor PJ though... we are talking about him like he isn't even here. How rude. Oh well, screw it. 2. Yeah, I kinda liked that one too. Poor PJ, saddled with that forever now. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  3. Okay, everyone agrees the initial post was nasty and violent and should never have been written and was the product of over reaction. PJ apologized and retracted big parts of it. We've all given him total hell over it. Can we stop now? Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  4. Nothing recent but in ancient China and Japan the Buddhist did do quite a bit of killing of those that disagreed. Not a lot, but it happened. Buddhism also does not really worship a deity (which is why the debate as whether it is a philosopy or a religion). As such, they could not do anything 'in the name of God.' 5. You need to talk to PeacefulJeffrey. He's been griping and whining and bitching and wishing death on innocent power company workers due to lack of power. His thread is (rightfully, given the venom) in Speakers Corner. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  6. My husband is the best friend I have ever had. We take care of each other and understand each other on every level, and that closeness transcends into our sex life as well. We're big kids, and have as much fun playing in the bedroom as outside of it. When we have kids, though we certainly won't be screwing in front of them, neither of us wants to hide the fact that we have a healthy sex life from them. They will know from a young age, if the door is locked, stay out We feel that it's a good thing for a kid to know that married sex is good and fun, and see what a truly healthy marriage is like. Something that neither of us ever got to really see as kids. We want our kids to know that THIS is the way it is supposed to be and never settle for anything less. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda

  8. I don't hover or do any other stances to pee. I sit my butt down and pee. Or if I'm in the woods, I drop my drawers and go. I'll never understand why women think they have such tender bottoms or why they have such shy bladders. Apparently I missed this gene somewhere along the line. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  9. Totally an old wives tale. See below.... http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dpd/parasites/lice/factsht_pubic_lice.htm Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  10. Wasn't this a Dave Barry column a couple weeks ago? Frankly I don't get it. Do you lick your ass? Do you eat off of your ass? Do you wipe your food or beverage on your ass prior to eating it? Does your ass come into contact with anything you lick or smell? If not, then who the hell cares if they get toilet cooties or not. I really do get pissed off by people who pee on the seat and don't clean up after themselves. These people need to be stoned to death publically as an example, and I'll throw the first damn rock. Why? Because I don't pee on the freaking seat to begin with as I'm not afraid of butt cooties. Though this article certainly explains why women take so freaking long to pee. I always wondered that. 11. I do believe that Jesus existed in the sense of a historical figure. I do not believe he was the son of God. I think that all organized religions have committed infinite atrocities in the name of God, and I can't believe that if God exists all the evil done in his name is appreciated. I can't stand when people who don't know shit about me try to convert me to Christianity (for all they know, I'm already Christian). I believe far more in eastern/Buddhist philosophy, teachings of more internal than external quests for truth and growth. I believe in mother nature or some more earthy form of sentience. I also believe that religion or philosophy can not be proven nor disproven, only guessed at. I do not believe that 'what is the purpose of life if there is no God' is a valid question. Who ever said that life had a purpose at all? It's also a pretty humanocentric view since it discounts non-human life forms. Jen Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  12. For all you know that 'fuckin' pussy' saved a life or some damage. Get over it. Other people are allowed to give a damn about something that doesn't sit right with them. If that person didn't complain and something happened you'd be bitching about how the power company is made of a bunch of morons who can't prevent problems. Find something more important to gripe about. The one thing I do agree with is comparing you to someone else. I always wondered how eating every bite of food on my plate was going to help the starving kid in Ethiopia. I agree on that point, but still think you are over reacting on the whole power thing. 13. I can't imagine what it would be like to pour years of effort into a project to see it crash like that before your eyes. Especially when there's so much that we could learn from it. Astrophysics fascinates me. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  14. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, that's just so wrong on a host of levels. I'd have to forklift his gut out of the way just to find anything of importance. I'd be far better off taking care of things myself. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  15. How about making some friends with the people across the street? Oh, wait a minute, you're too busy raving like a lunatic with tourette's so none of them would likely let you into their houses or open their fridges so all your food doesn't rot.
  16. Pretty cynical and lopsided. I don't think the ethics of either campaign are exemplary, both spend more time bashing the other than saying anything about themselves (other than Kerry running on his Vietnam history). I can't say either is less vicious than the other. I know too many supporters of both Kerry and Bush, and find that both are very diverse individuals, most of them intelligent and articulate individuals. Oh, by the way, I'm not going to hell because I don't believe it exists to begin with. Jen Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda

  18. Do you really think that marriage would have lasted 4 years!?!?! 4 minutes would be stretching it. And DAMN, I can't imagine the foulness of the sex life! Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  19. Haven't you ever heard of warp speed and wormholes, Jeffrey?
  20. I don't think that taking Saddam out of control in Iraq did diddly squat for safety in the US. I think that 9/11 improved security out of basic necessity. I think that the misleading intelligence that got us into Iraq probably did make a difference in the intelligence system of the US, maybe that makes us safer, maybe not. I think that on an individual basis people probably pay just a little bit more attention to the world around them and the people and events in their immediate vicinity. That's probably a good thing but will continue to fade with time. So I can't really vote. I don't think that removing Saddam did shit, or perhaps pissed off a lot of people, both here and in that neck of the woods. I do think that other factors probably made it safer, so they probably cancel each other out. Jen Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  21. Because businesses are about luring people in the door, once they are lured in, they generally stay, even when surprised by surcharges. I see it all the time in my field, and it royally bugs me. People are basically stupid lemmings that follow the lowest prices regardless of quality or ethics or surcharges that may apply, they only care about what that surface price is. 22. Do you really think that 'news' programming actually serves the purpose of informing the public? It is geared toward entertainment. They air what they have pictures and video of, not actual newsworthy events or information. They are there to keep viewers, to keep advertisers, to earn ratings, and they do whatever it takes to garner eyeballs glued to TVs. I was married to a news producer for 4 years, and I'd get royally pissed at him when he'd tell me the real stories compared to what actually aired. They only air the parts they have video of, the more sensational aspect of a story, and this is generally only one small part of it. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  23. I have to disagree with the 4WD part. True that not all of us are responsible off-roaders, but the place that I frequent most (paragon.. www.paragonap.com Is amazing. They took old logging trails and made over 100 miles of 4wd trails. It is gorgeous forests, we are told to 'tread lightly.' There's not a bit if garbage anywhere, there's plenty of wildlife from rattlesnakes to deer and a bazillion birds, the trails wind around trees, you can't even see other trails from where you are at. It is possible to 4wd and still be very eco friendly. I don't like the noise pollution from ATVs, that bugs me, but for the most part, it's a good thing. I was also in Ystone in June. Amazing to see how the burned out forests rejuvinate themselves. At one time Ystone officials used to do everything possible to end the fires, until they realized that it is part of the natural course of forests, to burn and regrow. Now it is just a matter of controlling them so they are not a danger to people or wildlife. Snowmobile use is allowed there but is restricted to a certain number of passes per day. The wildlife are so used to people and the noise of cars, that really isn't an issue. How many times in Ystone were you stopped in a traffic jam of buffalo all over the road? It happened to us at least twice a day, often more. I don't know enough about logging to have an opinion. I have seen some logging areas here in PA where small parts of the forest are logged while surrounding areas are left alone, almost like crop rotation, so there is always forest alive. But this is state land, I am sure that it is different in private logging companies. Mining is another story too. Centralia used to be a mining town, but will be on fire underground for hundreds of years due to dumping trash down old mine shafts, fire starting and anthrocite burning. Though some of the natural bonsai it has produced are incredible. The strip mine across the street from Centralia is nestled in among beautiful mountains, but is quite an eyesore. Fortunately it is small. What really pisses me off is light pollution. If controlled, it saves taxpayers a fortune and lets us stargazers actually see the worlds above us. I have a bumper sticker that says 'tree hugging dirt worshipper' and that probably sums up my attitude. But I also think that we can co-exist with nature by doing things more responsibly. 24. I don't give a flying rat's ass about the wackos, it's poor son of wacko that I feel sorry for. It's the kids that have to deal with the effects of bizarreness most acutely and it's not right. We don't even have to go into what I think about vegan diets. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  25. I don't know crap about being an MRI or X-Ray tech, but have had plenty of both. Definitely an in demand field. Just be nice to your patients. We don't like being there any more than you like having to go to work every day. A really cranky tech makes laying still for that long in an MRI tough. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
