Further, there are special rules for PG tandem flying. (equipment, pilot training). Mostly because there is a large potential for the pilot to kill the passenger, ( thus HUGE media frenzy, instead of just a PG pilot killing himself). much like there are special rules for tandem skydiving. a tandem fatality is a HUGE issue compared to regular bouncing swoop muppets. Paragliders are part 103 Ultralights and the USHPA "requires" operation in those boundaries. (cloud clearances, etc) No difference with a BASE rig.

Because... parachutes are ultralights bra- of course, it is a "two occupant" vehicle. but that makes it an illegally operated light sport aircraft. (Tandem skydives and tandem PG flying both have FAA waivers/special certifications) Ummm, no. Base jumpers are not ultralights. If they were, all night base jumps in the US would violate the FARs. The FAA has no authority over base jumpers. But then again, why wouldn't skydivers also be considered ultralights? Night jumps would be illegal per FAR 103 and legal per FAR 105. The simple answer is that skydivers are not ultralights, they are skydivers. And base jumpers aren't covered by the FARs. Dave As I said- there are special rules for parachutes from aircraft. (and part 105 is for skydiving [from an aircraft]) and as DP pointed out, they simply do not pursue BASE jumping. (Or really paragliding for that matter, because it really is not an issue to them, the FAA is a media whore, if there is not a large potential for media coverage to scare the public, they don't really care much) Trust me, a foot launched aircraft IS an ultralight. a BASE parachute is a foot launched aircraft. BASE jumping at night IS "illegal" per the written FARs in the United States. They don't care much because there really is not way for a BASE jump to interfere with legal aircraft operations.

From the pictures it looks like specially developed single parachute-dual harness system.

don't do the standard skydiver muppet act of tying a rope to your chest strap and tow behind a car. I have no sympathy to all the idiots that have died from that. (yeah, it's way more than one)

http://www.TandemBASE.com/index.php So... now all the muppets who said "i went skydiving" can also say "I went BASE jumping". I would fly video any day. Certain FAA pt103 issues exist, of course. But whatever.

All people that generalise are twatpuppets ...

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Pretty sure I introduced/coined the word "twatmuppet" to all you twatmuppets. -
Any US ski resorts open to speed flyers?
Calvin19 replied to Wings-n-Things's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Most places in europe require a speed flying rating, not a full on PG rating. here in Colorado there are a few places that allow it or turn a blind eye and a few that cut your pass for even trying. -
just release the lions.

Good BASE jumpers are trolls at heart. -SPACE-

skydivers are no fun... this guy posted this same thing on the BASE dorkzone and 9 out of 10 people were fucking with him.

The Johanaphone is right, there was a TFR for the 10 mile radius around the fire. (no pg or any civilian airplanes allowed) but I am sure they have permission to get water out of wonderland res. I doubt permission was even needed. it is a drop in the bucket, even 1000 fills is a drop in the bucket.

The heavy lift Helo was getting water not 100' from where we land PGs. The nice firefighter man came over and said that we were getting him in trouble. It was a good day. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2051685&id=203002032&l=2c2f3fdf5d

It's fun to visit it. but they started arresting people. We were paragliding over it a few days ago, and the day before that skydiving over it, well, skydiving off to the side of it. Found out after paragliding around water bombing choppers getting filled up that there was a TFR. So. these pictures are from last year. I promise.

The same thing that happens when you get a D license or 10,000 jumps. nothing. IT DEPENDS ON THE PERSON. you are a bad judge of yourself, always. If someone is telling you it is a bad idea it is either because they fear for you or for them self. when more experienced people stop telling you it is a bad idea, you have either outsmarted them or you will be fine.
-
If you have less than 100 jumps you do not have enough jumps to be jumping. THE BOTTOM LINE IS, THERE ISN'T ONE; some people are ready, heads up, and on it at 50 jumps. some never will be. This goes for everything.

there needs to be a sarcastic font. I would use it a lot. (and... you caught me) So, we have had lengthy discussions on how hard or possible it would be to put a baby back in. Specifically how fast the snatch tightens up after childbirth. It had to of been done at some point in mid-evil history.

pretty sure I used the word maybe is maybe a proposition? edit: changed the title from "children" to "responsibility", because i don't hate kids.
-
Maybe, people have kids when they run out of other things to do. A lack of creativity. Or maybe it is some social norm, a predetermined activity required for the suburbs. Maybe it is biological and unavoidable. Maybe i am making a mistake by spending that 200-500k$ per child on traveling, fun, toys, and the future. Whatever it is, there is not a day that goes by, for me, that does not reinforce the decision I made in 2005. PS- freezing your swimmers is cheating.

holy shit you convinced me. I think I am going to get it reversed tomorrow. I'm not saying that those memories and miracles of human worm larvae are wrong, just, not my style. I think of, all the time, what my father could have done if I had not been the burden of the prime years. maybe he would have been a pilot, like me. (his dream) maybe he would have traveled the world. but he did not. He worked 80 hour weeks and took the Bar. I understand that it was his choice, and he will never regret it. but what could he have done? does he never think about it?

It is my gift to the world to destroy it less, and maybe improve what cannot be destroyed. Is that not terrifying? that it feels right and ends up being wrong? what if you had one and half kids with this guy and then ended up divorcing and ruining the kids? You know what Nataly? you are alright.
-
I think there is a slight health risk with women and getting tubes tied. IMO I think it should be a requirement of all males to be rendered reversible sterile until they are capable and willing to raise a healthy child. But that is another issue. My insurance paid for it, yes. But I had already maxed out my deductible for the year and took advantage of it. I thought there would be an issue convincing the urologist but he was on my side. There was one phone call and one 15min outpatient visit. Doc did not even ask twice. good man.

Just because you have kids it doesn't mean you are tied down and can't have any fun anymore. Some of my best vacations have been ones taken with my kids and you'd be amazed at how fun it is to see the world through the eyes of a child. Being a parent hasn't stopped me from skydiving, I just don't skydive as much as my childless friends. It's really hasn't been a big deal. I understand that. well, I guess I do not understand, and never will with my life choices, but I respect that it can be the most important thing in a persons life (those relationships). I simply chose to avoid that. And, I do not think I have the patients or parental integrity for a child. I can barely remember to take my sisters cat out of the freezer half the time.

Not a huge fan of the GW debate, but if it is partially fault of the human race, THIS is the answer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YkgDhDa4HHo

For a non-parent to say "I hate children" is very different than a parent saying it. I have no doubt the OP is like me, and dislikes the idea of being tied down with kids. It's not the child's fault, it is the parents.
