  1. I was at that comp with Nova where he did his first 15 rotation tumble. (second part of your first link, bear lake). Pretty awesome guy, freaking amazing maneuver! I'm glad the wind let us fly that day. There was only enough time for about 10 tows. Flying tandems with Gabor in swiss land, he explained to us how to start the infinity. go left, go right. believe... putting a glider underneath you is a pretty terrifying thing to do. -SPACE-
  2. and that wrist strap appears to be strangling his hand - after bluish-pink comes just blue ---- then it falls off This was just out of the box from sea level in spain, I live at 1500m. and the iPhone camera likes to use it's imagination on colors. -SPACE-
  3. I just got a Little Cloud 16m^2, trimmers in (slow/soaring mode) I can acro and easily soar it on regular thermal days. trimmers out, well, um, wow. It scares the shit out of me. It's not as fast as my JVX but it will keep up with almost anything over 12m'^2. other seasoned speed riders also agree it's too fast (trimmers) all the way out. Collapses on a speed glider can be pretty epic. Sorry to use that lame ass word, but I avoid them by all means. They also are 10x worse on a mini wing or efficient canopy. Short recovery arcs are fun, and great for a lot of Colorado due to our wimpy mountains. If I was in NZ with a tram or heli, I would be on a GLX or my JVX as well. -SPACE-
  4. Seriously. The units are actually irrelevant as long as you know how many units mean "I got my money's worth of altitude so I should exit", "um, I guess I really ought to think about pulling now" and "fuck, there really needs to be a canopy over my head now!" I agree with you that for a quick view of things, the unit is irrelevant. I understand that argument. 1000m is about 3300', it is splitting hairs to argue that it matters. HOWEVER. Most of the world uses Metric. (around 95% of the humans on earth). That alone is a good enough reason. If the entire world was using the US/imperial system I would say that we all should use the US/imperial system. I agree with you that 1ml=1cm^3, etc. is a rare thing that would come in handy. My position is more we should all use the same thing than it is the metric system is better. Again, you are correct. the ground is the ground. Zero = Zero in metric and most other forms of measure. as for my alti, Were I to be on a group skydive, I would use my digital alti (not the metric one). The conversions cannot happen fast enough in my head Further, I bought that alti mostly because I think it is a very attractive instrument, and km is WAY cooler than feet. -SPACE-
  5. that was an odd quote - a parsec is a distance, right? but it was delivered in terms of quickness. being the nerd I am, I just rationalized that Lucas meant that exactly, and it meant that Han could jump closer to his target than most - being the reckless scruffy hair nerf herder that he is That is what I took from it also. Any kind of >C travel would involve space manipulation and distance would be the prime measurement of efficiency, not time. BACK ON TOPIC. Metric system>imperial system. End of argument. Attached is a pic of my Alti. -SPACE-
  6. There are a ton of different speed flying gliders. There are speed gliders that can match any terrain/decent angle you desire. The Gin Nano/Ozone Bullet gliders are on the far end of the spectrum as far as fast recovery arc/roll rate. -SPACE-
  7. So... you are a novice jumper with a lot of speed flying experience? or a novice at everything? Speed wings have a broad range of flight characteristics, anything from aggressive/ground hungry like a JVX to fast recovery arc and awesome good glide. (WAY better than anything in skydiving can even come close to). Flying a canopy close to the ground is going to be higher risk than a canopy way up high. but you have to land everything. -SPACE-
  8. This is a accelerated spin-stall. Asymmetric obviously. The loading is increased about 3 fold. (this is a speed glider wing, easily capable of that). The wing fully stalls, yaws, and spins me up. good times. I did this a few more times on that flight at different riser loads (weight shift input). http://vimeo.com/16226960
  9. Your name is virgin burner.
  10. In your picture you look like you are 25, have you been married AND divorced? My parents split in '97 (I was 12). A little late to have a huge effect on development but I would hardly say I am balanced. It was nice to have double the bedroom space.
  11. but... I am awesome and Saturday night is just when everyone else likes to avoid appearing on the internet so they can pretend THEY are awesome. There are more normals, more traffic, more congestion and most importantly more cops out on weekends.
  12. I just posted this because that guy is awesome. I suggest watching all the stuff from his channel. Find your awesome.
  13. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihpNNBmJypE&feature=player_embedded Things I enjoy about life: -The surge of a zero wind paraglider launch -Rocket science and rocket scientists. -Helicopters. -Flying stuff in general -Vampire girls. Things I dislike about life: -Not being a teenager anymore. -Inefficient pedestrians and drivers. -The pressure venting of pneumatic truck brakes. -Ignorant non-contributing morons that complain about the airlines. -SPACE-
  14. I am all for any abortion that can be made. I'll pay for her abortion if she wants one.
  15. A common brand of snatch soap. For girls that have nasty smelling snatches.
  16. That's the spirit! And lucky for me it turns out this was the case. Also, In a conversation with a very well educated and successful friend in the legal profession, (who also happened to be a heavy party drug user) she mentioned to me this; "Party" could mean almost anything. "par-tay" was commonly known as using pot, however it changed or merged with the shortened term "partake". Now sometimes known as "do you partake?" [as in "would you like to partake in the use of this fine California grade Ecstasy?"]
  17. I started losing my hair at age 22. My leg is crooked from a paragliding injury. my teeth are not perfect. I hate vegetables.
  18. That is a loowwwwwww pass. He was coming out of a maneuver, I cannot remember if it was a loop or split S. The video was pretty impressive. it was not a little tap, the mig slammed into the deck pretty hard and had a few pitch oscillations as a result. I think that picture is just as he came in, a few milliseconds later the tail would be even more in the dirt. As I remember it bent the engine nozzle so it was about 20% crushed closed. -SPACE-
  19. I used aerospace engineering scholarship money from Lockheed. Then took out student loans to pay for everything else. Spent a lot of money on flying stuff, skydiving was just a drop in the bucket. -SPACE-
