1. ...And that was just the stuff you read of MINE! - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
2. That's what I'm saying! Radical muslims destroyed centuries-old stone carvings -- but it was OKAY because they were BUDDHIST. Where was the world saying, "We've got to undo the horrible offense given to the Buddhists"? Nowhere. Because Buddhists are not notorious for blowing up thousands of innocent people for perceived slights. The world kisses the ass of muslims no matter HOW EVIL their acts, BECAUSE it FEARS those acts repeated. I think that the safest thing the world could do would be to eradicate muslims. But of course that won't happen, because that would be genocide. Better to die, piecemeal, at the hands of those we don't want to offend. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
3. No, he's absolutely right. This thread was about the attacker. It was about what I thought (since that was how it seemed to be reported initially) that no one stayed behind to try to overcome the attacker. I have since made comments that ameloriate that position, have I not? Additional stories I have since read say that some of the others attempted to take out the maniac. I am sorry to hear that his victims have died. (Quite glad to read that he has.) - - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
4. Right, no-one ever escaped from a US prison. I sure as shit never said that no one ever escaped from a U.S. prison... The fact that people do escape (usually the worst offenders) is a large part of the reason why I believe the worst offenders (the murderers) should be executed. And still we have idiots opposing this because they think that it's "barbaric" or "state-sponsored murder" or that "we have to refuse to stoop to their level." Well, if we don't, they escape to do more mayhem and murder. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
5. Aaaand, thank you very much to every fucking idiot who says, "Oh, we don't have to EXECUTE murderers; we'll just keep society safe from them by keeping them in prison! THIS IS EXACTLY WHY MANY OF US DON'T TRUST OUR SAFETY TO PRISONS. I WANT MURDERERS EXECUTED! NO ONE "ESCAPES" DEATH. So, I ask the anti-death penalty people: NOW when we find this shitwad again, can we fuckin' kill him?! - - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
6. I, uh, meant to do that. Hey, it's fuckin' late! - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
7. Oh, this is hopeless. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
8. It's unfortunate that as you mak a personal attack on my "brightness" you can't even spell "unfortunate" right. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
9. I'm still trying to figure out why we're blaming them for the natural disasters represented by famine and drought. Blaming huh for wha? I'm blaming them for their reaction -- which I think is incredibly selfish: bring children into the world when you can't possibly feed them all, in the hope that enough of them will survive to care for you in your old age? And the excuse is that their government is too corrupt to help them get on their feet, and their country suffers drought. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
10. "Life is cheap"? Noooo, you're not judgmental... - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
11. Your position may have arguable validity today. Of course. Criminalizing denial of the Holocaust is simply the criminalization of thought and ideology. Quite simply, it is the government telling you what you may think and express. That's a pretty goddamned dangerous precedent to set. Say what you will about the U.S., but apart from bullshit "hate crime" laws, we don't have laws telling you what you may express politically, and we are far better off for it. (And besides, although I don't like them, "hate crime" laws don't ensnare you unless you also commit a regular kind of crime in the first place.) - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
12. Oh you gotta be kidding. You're making this embarrassingly easy. Offense is one thing. Fine, take all the offense you want. Threatening (or engaging in) violence is another thing. Your "understanding why they're so 'angery' " comes across as being an apologist for them taking themselves so fucking seriously that they threaten LIVES because they don't like what FREE PEOPLE SAY. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
13. I'm pretty sure the Danish cartoons inspired much less anti-muslim hatred within the West than the violent reaction to them did. That's the irony of just how stupid and irrational these motherfuckers are. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
14. Because these acts are tantmount to falsely screaming “fire!” or “bomb!” like above. HOW is denying the Holocaust anything like screaming "fire!" in a theater? Criminalizing denial of the Holocaust actually brings a society one step closer to the next one. If you don't like someone's viewpoint or doctrine, overcoming it by SUPPRESSING it via criminal penalty is illegitimate. You don't actually win that way; likely all you will do is drive that ideology underground to flourish there. No, instead, you win if you open up discourse, debate with your detractors, and you have the more sensible position, and express it articulately to the masses and they see its reason and adopt it for their own. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
15. LOL! Those things are not illegal in the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Only in Europe, where people's governments don't trust them with freedom. Well, except for the "inciting murder" part. We can't do that one, and that's fine with everyone, including me. I guess I should not be surprised. Yes, and if experience has taught us anything, it clearly is that morality and thought can easily and effectively be legislated. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
16. I kind of liked seeing certain reactions. Especially when all the democrats stood up and cheered when the President mentioned the failure of social security reform, which could lead to it's bankruptcy. It's important for America to see that Democrats applaud failure. Social Security hasn't failed. Bush has. I think the Dems cheered the failure of a seriously flawed plan, which Bush has NOT been able to sell to the Congress or the American people and for very good reason. Social Security is one of those issues which, for better or worse, I have largely ignored since I am not (now) one of those affected by it. (I know, there's a fallacy in that thinking. Different topic.) But as long as I have been basically bored by the S.S. debate and ignoring it, I can still remember having heard for the last several decades that the program was in trouble and insolvency was seen as being not far down the road. Don't pretend it's BUSH'S fault that S.S. is in trouble. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
17. Really. Who's forcing you to read anything with my name on it? - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
18. It's okay. Muslims have a tendency to kill EACH OTHER when they're pissed off. (Oh, and also when they go on religious pilgrimages.) Usually the people who suffer most when muslims get pissed off are the muslims themselves. - Posters of this forum have "protested VIOLENTLY"? Done actual physical violent acts? Like hit people? Break things? Just what are you accusing people here of having done because of this video? - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
19. I did not say anything about "one party rule." I simply said, "What if everyone just happened to agree? That would not result in a system that collapsed. In fact, everyone would probably be really happy." Don't forget that in the hypothetical I'm talking about, there wouldn't BE anyone who wasn't getting their way. If you chartered a tour bus for 50 people, and ALL of them wanted to go to the same place, NO PROBLEM. Hey, let's get this bus movin'! But if 15 of them wanted to go to Biloxi and see some shows, 5 wanted to go to Nashville, 10 wanted to go to New Orleans, and 20 wanted to head all the way to Las Vegas, when they vote on where to go, how many are gonna be pissed off? 30. How many will be happy? 20. That's a wonderful system. I recognize that in the REALITY state, where there WILL be disagreement and different goals and visions of happiness and contentment, it's the best we can manage. But please don't make the mistake of suggesting that a society in which everyone managed to agree totally would be some sort of hell on earth. It would be a lot more peaceful than the shithole we've got for a world. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
20. Your consistent inability to understand and relate to other cultures is an issue you ought to deal with. Why? I live in only one culture. Nice total avoidance of the very valid issue I raised in my post, by the way. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
21. Actually in a different newspaper I saw today, there was a more thorough report, and it said that a few people DID try to "stop" the guy -- and that was when he shot a few of them. I guess maybe it was a melee and hard to pin the guy down. He looks like a chunky boy, maybe he was stronger than the others. Maybe I jumped the gun on calling them all cowards; it was all the news I had been privy to at the time about the subject. I guess we'll learn more as time goes on. Maybe this is all part of the plan of the cosmos to teach me patience and tranquility... - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
22. So we invade tommorow. You in? Can't tomorrow. Too busy abusing Chinese cheap labor to fatten the profit of my US corporation... And those Chinese are thankful to have the JOBS. As Skyrad said, "Try understanding life from a non american point of view when discussing other continents." Just because what they're paid over there wouldn't buy squat over here, that doesn't mean it's not enough for them in their society. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
23. Um, no, you don't. You're saying that to shut me up.
24. I think it has to do with freedom not being on top of poor people's priority list. I'd think that basics such as food, shelter, and reproduction come first. Sometimes religion also comes in the mix. Freedom is a luxury that few people get to strive for. IMO. If these people were not being shit on by warlord-type "governments" and other despicable despots who line their pockets and fill their overseas bank accounts with loot on the backs of their people, those poor would probably be able to get by a lot easier. Freedom itself enables people to prosper. If they got some, maybe they'd have a better shot at earning a living and being able to obtain food and medicine. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
25. I disagree. I think that if everyone was of the same mind about issues, things would go exceedingly smoothly, and stuff would get done as it should, and there would be little or no strife, and elections would be quite simple both to conduct and to predict. There is nothing inherent in the notion of democracy that says there must be discord in order for it to work. There doesn't even have to be disagreement, or even variety. Just people voting for what they want. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
