1. Some young muslim kid found it and made a Molotov cocktail out of it. Or maybe he filled it with explosives, coated it with glue and random nails and screws, and left it on a roadside to maim U.S. troops. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
2. Ohhh, I guess we Americans are not entitled, as the young nation we are, to screw around before finally maturing. You know, the way England went around the world acting as if it were bequeathed to her by some rich auntie. And as for the literal mucking: isn't the Thames river known to be quite polluted? - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
3. Irony score 9.8 Can I get one like you at Williams-Sonoma? - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
4. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA If you know me so well, what finger am I holding up? - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
5. There's always the alleged "suitcase nukes" that have gone missing from the former U.S.S.R.'s arsenal. And there is always the Black Market... You are really confident that just because it doesn't seem that Iran would give its terrorists a nuke that the terrorists who want to make the ultimate strike at the West will never be able to get one? And what if Iran gave its terrorists a nuke in a way where it could not be detected who gave it to them? And they detonate it far from Iran. Who exactly would we use our retaliatory nukes against? - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
6. Would you like to return to the conditions of the 1930's, with children starving in the streets? If not, how would you avoid it? Feed the Homeless to the Hungry. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
7. Shouldn't we have government inspectors at the aircraft boarding area to ensure that we are safe from ourselves? If you need them then lobby for it. I don't. You deliberately erased this bit: "individuals have to be ready to take on the responsibility of protecting themselves". Very poor debating form, too easily caught You can do better than that. Oh, he should have to include a quote of every poster's reply going back to the root of the thread in order to have "good debating form"? The part that he omitted was not relevant. He was criticizing what YOU said, not what I said. And in response to you, I would say, who cares if you don't think you need it, if others decide they think everyone would be safer if you had it regardless? That's the thinking of the Left. It's lock-step with the thinking you exhibit. But you continue to tell us you oppose big government intrusion into private matters, and most of us are not fooled into believing you. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
8. CNN story From the story: You bunch of fuckin' pussies. "To protest the inaction of the Danish government in restraining freedom of its press, we will punish Denmark by boycotting it... ...um, except for those things we get from it that we really don't want to do without..." Fuckin' assholes. The rest of the world should boycott YOUR country, and not send it shit for medicine, machinery, food, etc. So sorry that our FREEDOM entitles us to make fun of you and your religion even if it bothers you. Grow the fuck up. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
9. The big fallacy of your thinking here is it takes only a handful of Iranians (islamic militants) to pull off a terrorist plan, and so you would not need the entire population of Iran to want to set off a nuke in order for it to actually be done. We are not dealing with people who are rational in at all the same way we think of ourselves as being. They believe that murdering all infidels will get them the favor of their god! What is there to lose? So they, and whatever other muslims are in the blast area, will go to paradise and the infidels will burn in hell or whatever. Is this realization supposed to prevent them from blowing up a nuke? Conventional deterrent psychology does NOT work on people who would be just as happy dying for their cause as continuing to live -- indeed, on people who think THE GREATEST HONOR is dying for your cause (your god). - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
10. I think that they would use them as an extortion-bludgeon. They would probably be constantly threatening to blow up X or Y if we did not accede to their demands. Radical muslims get on t.v. and demand that we release prisoners or they will cut off the heads of a few unlucky people. Why would you think they would not continue to make demands of other nations, but this time greater magnitude demands, with the threat of vaporizing 100,000 people? - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
11. I'd love to see if there are any cartoons (or even just articles) written by WOMEN printed in an Islamic state. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
12. The problem as has been observed is that the better the welfare system -- the more money it has available to give to the poor and homeless -- the more likely it is to establish an entire "culture" of welfare recipients who don't want to bother getting a job because they're fine and dandy living off the welfare they get. So what do we do? Maybe it's time for tough love? I don't profess to have "the" answer. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
13. Shouldn't we have government inspectors at the aircraft boarding area to ensure that we are safe from ourselves? It's the only way, John. It's the only way. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
14. I retract this statement. After reading some of PJ's other posts, I've formed a different opinion. You know, since your comments are obviously directed at me, so that you can tell me just how morally superior you are, why don't you just PM them to me instead of boring everyone else here with them? And then I can tell you I don't give two shits what you think of me and my alleged bigotry. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
15. Worry no more. I have long been familiar with The Onion. I was wondering if people would actually, actually think I couldn't see the joke of that article. There are people here who think that little of my intellect, you know. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
16. You can't slip this by unchallenged. We don't HATE them. Were it not for them hating US and blowing up innocent people in order to extort what they want out of the rest of the world, we would not "hate" them. We hate what they DO; how they CONDUCT themselves and the means they use to seek their ends. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
17. The waste of time is in thinking that law enforcement is the answer to things like this. Even if this woman had been found out and incarcerated for... something earlier on, does that preclude the possibility that someone else could do the same kind of crime, but be a person who was not detainable for any good reason? What if it were someone who has never been in trouble before, or did not exhibit strange behavior that should have indicated they needed to be locked up? In such a case, law enforcement would have to physically chance to be between such an attacker and his/her victims at the moment of attack to be any good. Since the chances of that are approaching zero in any society that does not have a 1-1 ratio of cops to average citizens, I don't think we can count on that kind of luck. And so individuals have to be ready to take on the responsibility of protecting themselves at any given moment. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
18. Yes, I know, I agree with you there -- it's very sad when people feel at liberty to contribute to a discussion those things that they think are germane to it, or those things that the discussion makes them contemplate... It's too bad not everyone realized in time that the discussion was supposed to go only in the direction you wanted it to. I think you have some megalomania issues to work through. But then again, I'm not a psychiatrist, as you apparently are. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
19. Yeah, Sean Penn is a jerk - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
20. I disagree. There are many cultures that live, or at least make a serious and good-faith effort to live, under a credo of live-and-let-live, whereby we agree to not harm others in exchange for a pact that they will not harm us. Muslims will not live by such a pact -- the world has seen this unwillingness time and time again, stated in blood. If you disagree, please tell us which group among the world's many groups and "tribes" would step up to be the constant threat of terrorist bombings and kidnappings and beheadings? If I had to guess, the next group would be either Marxists or eco-terrorists and animal-"rights" activists. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
21. Not entirely. From the statement: It seems to me that statements like this are really just wordy ways of saying, "Kiss the asses of the violence-threatening muslims and appease them so they don't feel offended enough to attack innocent people." This whole "urge tolerance/respect all faiths" thing is BULLSHIT. No one is holding the MUSLIMS to the demand to "respect and be tolerant of all faiths!" Everyone else has to do that to muslims! I have not heard of any of the supporters of the cartoons' publications advocating violence. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
22. A-fucking-men, JohnRich. And I would add that of all the people in the world, it behooves those who live in such countries, more than anyone else to step up to the challenge of removing their oppressive, abusive, greedy, thieving "leaders." Why should it be more the responsibilty of Americans to remove the corrupt leaders of these countries than it is the responsibility of the people who suffer under them? Should WE care to do the job if THEY don't care? - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
23. Yes, I would add an "h" to "anyting". That's the funniest thing I have seen all day! Rock on, John! - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
24. So, he was sentenced to death, after all. Okay, so we can thank the endless bullshit appeals that condemned prisoners get. A year and a half and he was still sitting on death row? I'd like an explanation of why that was. Of course, the rest of the story is the rest of the scumbag shitwads who escaped with him -- and who it was who helped them from the outside. Hey, this one has something in it for everybody: even the tree-hugger bleedin'-hearts can be pissed off, since one of these guys caused a big oil spill. They won't kill for lives lost, but they'll do it for the spotted owls, medical-test monkeys and the baby seals. C'mon, where are the PETA eco-terrorists now? Would they refuse to kill an animal killer/environment polluter just because they're afraid to insult muslims too? - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
25. Tsk. Might have inspired me to finally write a compassionate eugoogoly on SC... - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
