1. The royal family has me perplexed. I am reading right now in the Parade magazine a question by a reader: "Queen Elizabeth turns 80 this year. How old is her husband, and how is his health?" The answer is irrelevant. What I don't get is, the queen is married to a guy who is not the king but a prince? How's that? I would have thought a country with a royal family would at any time have a KING and a QUEEN. And the idea that the queen is married to a guy but that doesn't make him the KING... I just don't get it. 'Splain it to me. Pretend I'm a total dummy nincompoop. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
2. In Florida, we note that hispanics are often the same way. I can't tell you how many times I have read about someone stabbing his brother or his wife to death -- usually in a situation that involves drinking -- and I then see the name indicates he/she is a hispanic immigrant in all likelihood (or at least of very recent hispanic descent). Now, I know people will challenge me on that, call me bigoted, racist, stereotyping, asshole, etc. But the fact is, so-called stereotypes of hispanics getting very heated about perceived slights and insults (gee, a lot like muslims) have come about for a reason: it's something that has been observed, and observed to a noticeably greater degree than other ethnicities. Do with that what you will. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
3. Why, they're like the real life version of how I am on internet forums! LOL! - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
4. It's a bit illogical for you to launch from, "Jeffrey thinks the Democrats are intellectually and ideologically bankrupt" (a fair summary of my thoughts) to, "Jeffrey seems to want a one-party state"! Why do you think that the one follows logically the other? Sure, the Democrats have to reinvent themselves. But won't that mean they actually aren't "the Democrats" anymore anyway? I mean, you either believe what you say or you don't. You either believe in your policy and ideology or you don't. Democrats believe in the ideat that gun control equals crime control (a pathetic fallacy), and that government will, if given enough control and power, solve all the problems facing a society. How on earth do you think they can "find their way" and "reinvent themselves" if they don't continue to believe in those ideologies? I think that the long and the short of it is, if Democrats remain true to themselves and their beliefs, they will be out of step with what the American people want, and they will continue to lose elections, and lose influence on where the country is headed. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... 5. Look, if you've got a grudge against the U.S.A . because IT'S THE BEST COUNTRY IN THE F*ING WORLD, why don't you just COME OUT AND F*ING SAY THAT?! - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
6. That's exactly my point. I don't think that the difference between Beverly Hills and Compton is explained by, "Oh, Compton's people are poor, and that made them criminals." Maybe crime and criminals are a disease that make a place be poor. Maybe the crime comes first. We already see that plenty of poor folk don't commit crime, and plenty of rich folk do. That flies in the face of the "poverty causes crime" theory. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
7. Please find one relevant example. Just one. I don't know how to link to a post (maybe you can help me with that), but here is the text of one such post, in which you opine that telling me anything worthwhile is like "feeding priceless paintngs to a goat." That's not supposed to insult my intellect? You were replying to her, directly after she addressed me, so there was no question you were referring to me. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
8. Dude, you've finally said something I agree with! Obviously since you own gear and make jumps that disqualifies you as a troll. You'll see hundreds, if not thousands, of posts by me that show in-depth attention to discussing the subject at hand. Hardly "trolling." Give me a fuckin' break. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
9. That one has made the rounds, to be sure. It is interesting, though. I read somewhere that although it does work, it has nothing to do with any study at Cambridge University. Why people feel that just because it's the internet, it's okay to LIE, I'll never know -- but people seem to love to make shit up and send it around cyberspace. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... 10. The problem with promoting peace (with the accompanying voluntary disarmament that it suggests) is that unless everyone everywhere does it simultaneously, there will be some holdout who retains his weapons til just after the others have eliminated theirs -- and he will have power over them at that moment. And he will be the last motherfucker you'd want to be in charge. Because of human nature, peace just doesn't work, I'm afraid. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
11. What, you mean Germany has not already made it a crime to suggest that Germany should possess a nuclear defense? - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
12. Man's representation of god is all you know of god. Think about that. And if you assert that you go by your own internal, true, personal representation of god, then consider that that's probably what guided all the others to make their representations of him to you -- and you claim that theirs are false! - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
13. Plagiarism? The first time I ever heard that said, it was by a friend of mine in high school, in 1988 or so. Who'm I supposed to have stolen it from? You?? - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
14. No, the Thames is remarkably clean and has a healthy fish population. Maybe you're thinking of the Cuyahoga, which has been known to catch fire from time to time. Well, then, it must be a relatively recent development, because I distinctly remember learning at some point that the Thames was a filthily polluted river. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
15. And before you go excusing Africa, because it's poor and backward for the most part, let me remind you that it is always thrown in our face that Africa is the "cradle of humanity": why, if it is the oldest place where humans developed, is it in LAST place to... well... develop!? - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
16. Well, the easy solution is to let ourselves get so far in that we have no hope of getting out, and then ask other countries to forgive our debt! I mean, it's good enough for Africa... - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
17. Hell NO it's not a good excuse. People are using poverty as an excuse for their behavior, and I condemn it. Saying that poverty causes crime is half way toward saying that it excuses crime -- because the solution is always offered as, "If you want to stop crime, get rid of poverty." Well, yeah, we all want to get rid of poverty because none of us actually wants others to suffer its discomfort. But I'll be damned if I accept the notion that we should not be able to address crime by law enforcement, and the expectation that people should live within the bounds of the law. Otherwise, it's as though criminals are extorting us to make sure that they are economically taken-care-of. Sorry, criminals, you gotta fuckin' struggle and work for what you want just like the rest of us. In other words, we should not have to accept the notion that crime is going to accompany poverty unless we are to accept the notion that poverty strips people of their humanity, their souls, their morality, and their compassion for other people. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
18. No kidding. What a bunch of bullshit and double standards I'd appreciate it, then, if you would come to my defense when everyone else is "piling on" because they don't like me, or, more specifically, don't like me because they don't like what I'm saying. In other words, where the fuck are ya when I need ya?! - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
19. Seems like a chicken-or-the-egg issue. Are they criminals before they end up poor? Or are they poor before they turn criminal? When you consider that there are plenty of well-to-do criminals who still murder or steal; and when you consider that there are plenty of impoverished people who still toil for a meager existence and lead noble and virtuous lives; it can make you wonder why people claim axiomatically that poverty causes crime. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
20. Would you kindly grow up? - Irony score 10.0 How about you, too? Would you kindly grow up? - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
21. LMMFAO!!!!!! It's true -- how can anyone take them seriously for opposing tax cuts if they're not handing back the money they've been given back? Do you think that any of the companies owned by rich LIBERALS are ready to give back the tax cut money they receive? I mean, it's one thing if their complaint is that the tax cuts are given to the RICH and not the poor or middle class (a claim which is bullshit anyway)... But it's another to BE a rich liberal and talk shit about opposing tax cuts and then NOT refuse your own! - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
22. You know nothing about what I did -- or why. That doesn't stop you from talking as if you did though, does it? Hey, it doesn't stop people like you, kidwicked and amazon from casting aspersions on ME... - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
23. You may note that it was not the focal point of my post. To have hit both of the errors would have detracted from the funniness of focusing on "prostrate." - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
24. Speaking of "quality," do you ever bother to proofread what you write? I make mistakes now and then, but mostly I don't have lots of typographical errors in what I write. You, on the other hand... You mean to insinuate I have no life because I have "thousands of posts"? YOU have "thousands of posts." Maybe we can make a life togeth-... UGH! Excuse me while I go vomit. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
25. Bravo! Yes, thank you, Rehmwa. I don't try to play the picked-on martyr, but you're sure right about the way people here single me out for scorn and derision for doing nothing that they don't do themselves. I really suspect that it has to do with pointing out their hypocrisy or the illogic of their positions on a lot of subjects, and them not liking being exposed very much. That and they just can't abide that someone would have STRONG views that are in opposition to their own. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
