WARNING: DO NOT TALK ABOUT SKYDIVING WITH BOSS!
jumpinfarmer replied to RkyMtnHigh's topic in The Bonfire
Well said Jimmy T! -
I've felt all the emotions mentioned here on this post. I'm glad that it isn't just me who feels like this when I jump.

This is something I think of a lot. I try to reason it out by thinking how dangerous every thing else I do is. I've been a volunteer firefighter for 14 years and have never thought about the danger. I'm a farmer, one of the most dangerous jobs in the US. I rarely think about the consequenses of some of the dumb things I do on the farm. Last weekend a guy I knew got killed on a snowmobile. The next day I went riding with friends and didn't think much about the danger. His death does bother me. Like myself he was a young single farmer. When he went out that day for a ride he never thought he wasn't comming back. I guess we never know whats around the next corner. If we did we would all go through life worrying about every thing we do. When I go to the DZ I'm always nervous till I jump the first time. Then it goes away. I refuse to let myself think that I may not go home to whatever I was planning on for tomarrow. The people excitment and fellowship of skydiving make it worth it.

Have you ever landed inside the plane?
jumpinfarmer replied to mazevedo's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Not yet! The only time I've been in a plan was to jump out. 22 plane rides. 0 landings. -
I caught something on CNN a couple of months ago about this. It was a special about Bush and devoted about five minutes to his skydiving. The way he explained it was terific. He should be the spoksman for the USPA.

It was - 12 Saturday morning here in Western NY state. Suposed to be below zero for the next few days. We like to complain about the heat durring the summer, then brag about the cold in winter.
-
What's the coldest temperature you've experienced?
jumpinfarmer replied to lawrocket's topic in The Bonfire
-23 one nite on a thermomater on the side of our barn. I don't remember when though. It was -20 or so when I went on a mutual aid trip with the fire department to St Larance County NY in 1998. I've spent a lot of time snowmobiling below zero. The last few days here have been below zero at night, Saturday it was -12 and only 5 durring the day. You get used to it though, it makes for rugged people. -
Farmer. I raise wheat grain corn oats hay and kidney beans on about a thousand acres in western NY. I also sell seed cord and other seed to other farmers. as well as plowing snow for about 70 residential customers, and some custom harvesting.

Is there such a thing as a non USPA jumper in the US other than a foreign visitor.

Or New York. It's a warm 18 out, was -18 yesterday morning.

New Poster, New to the sport...

You already have 11 S/L jumps so why not stick with it. If you switch you will basicly be starting over. I did AFF but sometimes wish I could've done S/L. -
Vermont Town Desires to Secede to N.H. - Press Clips
jumpinfarmer replied to lawrocket's topic in The Bonfire
Here you have one of the most liberal states right next to one of the most conservative states. When people think of Vermont they think they are all liberal nature loving tree huggers. I'm suprised that they are not. I hope that they can secede. It would send a message to government that you can't just keep taxing the life out of people and expect them to take it. -
Pittsford volunteer fire dept. been a member for over twelve years, and was an explorer before that. Pittsford NY just south of Rochester, in Monroe County. www.pittsford.org www.mcfw.com

What would you do: Sex offender and your child
jumpinfarmer replied to AggieDave's topic in The Bonfire
I'm not a father, don't even have a girl friend now. However someday I hope to have a family and god help who would ever harm them. For that matter who ever would harm my parents, grandperants, aunts, uncles, cousins. I live on a farm, and have three sheds full of equipment that could painfully dismember the human body. I think I could dispose of the remnants quietly and still have a clean consiance. Human scum like that should be used to test the safty of dangerous machines. -
Liver! As a kid I hated it. I would dred dinner when I knew it was the main attraction. Now I could eat it three nights a week. I used to like chicken alot, but now am sick of it. I eat it when I have to but don't realy like it.

A strong relationsip should have some apart time. What I mean is if they don't want to jump with you then they should except it that it's something that you want to do. On the other hand would you be willing to do the same for them.

Am I cool because I skydive, or do I skydive because I'm cool?
jumpinfarmer replied to TitaniumLegs's topic in The Bonfire
I'm a dork I've allways known that. Now everyone thinks I'm a crazy insane dork with a death wish. Boy are they wrong! Skydiving is a blast, and so cool to. -
Any one got one? If so how do you like it.

Great post. I hope anything I said didn't offend you. I don't think that it's a Canadian or US problem, it's just something that happens. Know one realy knows how BSE gets started. The cronic wasting in deer and elk in the western states is thought to be spontaniuos. Maybe BSE is the same way. One thing is for sure the farmer who sold that cow did all US farmers a great dis service. His greed may cost the ag industry billions this year, and for what a few dollars on a cull cow thats already made him his money in milk.
