  1. Me to. I normally find something to do on Thanksgiving morning, tomorrow I will be combining corn then dinner with family at 4:30. I'm kind of glad to do something so I don't have to sit with the family all day.
  2. Yes I only have 22 jumps so I'm not broke yet. Maybe next Xmas will be different.
  3. Not much luck. All I get are it's to expensive, why would I want to do that, I want to but not today, and the ever popular your crazy. Well if I'm crazy so be it I'm having the time of my life.
  4. I know it's early and may be a dumb question, but. I'm wondering if anyone knows where I could find some skydiving Christmas cards? I also would like to find a jig saw puzzle for my grandparents. thanks
  5. Wach out for them brown shiny fields. Cow shit swooping! Could be a new sport.
  6. I don't do that it looks to dangerous. I'll stick to safe sports like jumping out of planes.
  7. Was just starting to go away on last few jumps, but with bad weather and lack of jumping I'm sure it will be back next time I go for a fall.
  8. I'd never been in a plane before, thought I would like to try it once wile away on a trip. I did a tandem, wasn't impressed, continued on trip a couple days latter it sank in that I had done the most awesome thing in my life but was to damn stupid to realize it. On the way home I stoped and took AFF and did three jumps, after the first AFF I knew I was hooked. After I got home know one could believe what I had done (very out of character for me) in three weeks I was at a DZ near home finishing AFF. It's been the best thing I've done in my life I don't know what took me so long to get started, I had thought about it for a long time but was to chicken.
  9. I know I'm a long way from being able to do one, but it's one of my long term skydive goals. Is it worth the bother, or should I forget about it ?
  10. The first line says. "If your crazy enough to jump out of planes for kicks" I resemble that remark.
  11. I've got a deisel tractor that runs a little rich. Smells just like the otter at take off. When shes working hard that smell takes me righ to jump run. Damn I wish winter was still a couple months away!
  12. Shure do but I try not to. Yesterday was a good example we had a bad bad wind storm which flattened 110 acres of corn I had to pick. Also it took down three elevators we use around our farm one hitting the cab of our newest tractor. It makes me sick to think and worry about all the extra time and expense it will take to harvest the corn and clean up the farm. Theres nothing I could have done to prevent what happend and all our neighbors are in the same boat so why get stressed about it. I was once told you have to play the hand your delt and with mother nature one never knows what that will be. Just take your licks and get back up and going as quick as you can, you will always be better off than someone else.
  13. I hope I can say the same thing some day. I'm beginging to like the plane ride a little more but still prefer to jump out. I geuss my facination with this topic is because I spent 28 years glued to tera ferma.
  14. How many of you had never been in a plane before you started skydiving? How many never been in a plane except to jump from it? I'm just wondering how many other people had been as atached to the ground as me.
  15. Good thing to do. the reps don't read all this mail but they do count the for and against and which ever one is bigger normally wins. Without legislation like this the insurance companies would cripple all active sports.
  16. ditto I have troble not sneeking jumping into the conversation somehow. None of my whuffo friends are converted yet but I'm still working on it.
  17. Try traveling the roads with slow oversized farm machinery, it brings out the best in all drivers. Or better yet try a fire truck through traffic them lights and siren mean nothing to most people.
  18. I give you a lot of credit I hate EMS, I'm a volunter firefighter so I have some knowlege. Good luck The life you save may be mine.
  19. Good idea it's what makes this sport so great. Thanks to all who have done just that for me. It's so cool to have someone you may never have met come up and give you a pep talk or some kind of encoragement on the ground or in the plane makes you feel like your becoming part of the clan.
  20. I was scared out of my wits to. I hadn't jumped in almost a month when I got to the DZ the head instructor looked at me and said get manifested for your low one meaning hop & pop. I wasn't given time to think about it. The only thing that really bothered me on the ride to alti. was that I also was getting a spotting lesson something that really freeked me out. After I jumped out all the worry was gone just like every other jump, only I was all by my self. It's great don't worry be happy.
  21. Ditto I did a tandem to say I had jumped from a plane. The next week I did AFF to say I had jumped on my own, but one jump wasn't enough I did three. A month later I was thinking about nothing but skydiving so I finished AFF and now am close to being licensed. Be careful about one time things.
  22. I do a lot of prayen about the weather. farmer skydiver snowmobiler all weather sensitive.
  23. I'm looking for a rig but I don't know what I want. I'm 5'10'' 160lbs with 22 jumps. I've jumped 209 and 169 Icarus student canopies. should I look for used or buy new, what size canopy should I have (think conservative I want to be around to jump for a long time)and how much should I plan on spending. I have looked on the classifieds and on Ebay but haven't seen the right rig yet. Maybe some of you have some suggestions.
  24. I'm going to free fall into corn pile when I go out to check corn drier tonight. It's only about ten feet but it's all I got . Don't worry dry corn makes nice soft landing.
  25. Landing area shouldn't be a problem, we have 465 acres in one block I think I can hit that.
