Bring it! If it's there you will probably jump if not you wont. As for the folks, they'll have to get used to it. Maybe you should take them to watch they say that will help with wuffos. I shouldn't talk, I still live at home, Dad doesn't seem to mind, but Ma sayes it makes her sick to think about it. They just have to get used ot the fact that little Markey isn't playing with toy tractors and Legos anymore.

Thats been going around the farm stores, co.ops and implement dealers for a while now. But it is still funny.

Hey you. When I was a kid our neighbors dog was hey you I don't know how it stuck to the dog but it did and I've always liked that name since.

High school stuff that doesn't matter anymore
jumpinfarmer replied to Vallerina's topic in The Bonfire
Thats me. I spent most of my time in the shop, didn't play sports, wasn't cool, and lived on a farm. I was always a social outcast. I did have friends and they weren't all nerds. We had the ten year reunion a mounth ago. Everyone knew who I was I realy haven't changed, I'm still the same size and have all my hair. Most of the popular people now leed boring sometimes lonely lives. When asked what I was doing, besides farming, I'd say jumping from planes. You meen skydiving they'd say. I answered yes and no they have never had to push me either. Me a skydiver who would have ever thunk it. -
The media puts there own spin on everything. Never believe anything they tell you.

I'd say about half of the jumpers at my DZ are over 40 some are over 60. It's neet to here all the stories of the old days. I just hope I can learn to fly like them someday.

you need to add sugar and have a one way valve to let the gas from the fermentation out and not let air in. I haven't made any in a couple of years, but I have some old stuff in the cellar that might make you go blind.

We have had about 15 inches of fluffy snow today. I've been plowing all day and haven't seen one kid out playing. When I was a kid a snowfall like this was like a gift from god. We would play for hours building forts and sliding down hills. When it got dark we still played we hung lanterns on poles so we could see. I guess maybe kids are to busy playing video games and watching TV to come outside. Maybe thats why there are so many fat kids today.

What makes a skydiver a skydiver? AKA be nice to the tandems
jumpinfarmer replied to Brian425's topic in The Bonfire
I hung around and jumped when I could, I always felt welcome. It wasn't untill my AFF grad jump, a sunset load, that I felt like part of something. As I filled out my log book it came over the loud speaker from manifest (ladies and gentlemen there is now one more of us say congradulations to our newest AFF grad Marc Krieger) it may sound corney but that is what did it. After that I felt like I was a real skydiver. I know I have a long way to go but I'm learning. I know that to the real skydivers I'm just another pesty student but know ones ever made me feel that way. -
Legality in jumping Ultralights

Does this include powered parachutes? I am very interested in jumping one of them some time in the future, when i'm more experianced. A two person PPC is a common sight and there not intended solely for instruction. -
Student skydiver and the winter weather
jumpinfarmer replied to ripper0289's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I hear ya want to go south to do some jumpin this winter. I can't get anyone to cover the snowplow route though, also have acres and acres of corn to pick to. I geuse I'll just have to wait it out till spring. Let us know how it goes. -
When I was a kid we always looked forward to Friday night and The Dukes of Hazzard. That show was and still is the best. It's to bad there couldn't be another show like that today, but with all the political correctness I don't think they would let it happen. I guess I'm just a simple minded hick and thats why the Dukes were so great.

No but I want to bad. Does he cone up to the northeast ever? Reading all these stories about being fast and zero gees just gives me wood. I gotta jump that plane.

This has got to be the best post I've ever read on here. I laughed out loud, and the best part is most of it is true. I was also missed by the list of shame 2003 Chevy Silverado 2500hd black, also 97 Chevy K1500 red. Don't forget the five farm trucks 48 Chevy 52 IH 75 Ford 600 ticket magnant with dear damage, 85 Chevy pu bucket o rust that smokes bad and 86 Ford 700 with big grain box and no balls. I really prefer to drive farm equipment on the road though, it's amazing the maneuvers people try to get around a slow moving vehicle.

I was told by another jumper not to buy a Racer. He said they were hard to pack and maintane. Is this true? I see a lot of used Racers for sale and wonder if I should consider one or not.

Here in NY the dear are so thick that the cops don't even bother to come to dear struck MVAs unless someone is hurt. If you want the dear they will probably tell you to take it. It normally is obvious that it was hit by a car, a 12ga and a Buick do different damage to the carcass. In most cases the person who hits the dear just keeps going, leaving the roadside littered with brown organic speed bumps.

You think your hooked now, just wait till you start the (real jump course) then thats all you'll think about night and day. Good luck!

Paragliding vs. Skydiving: which to learn?
jumpinfarmer replied to IamAdam's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Yes it only lasts seconds, but it's not just the jumping that makes skydiving so great it's the people you hang with at the DZ there what makes skydiving what it is. If you have a DZ just a few minutes away then go for skydiving you won't regret it. -
12 months & 19 days = A licence!!!!

Just being nosey, what caused the ambulance ride? -
My great uncle used to say grace by saying (Lord we came to this land, plowed it planted the crops, frought the weather, brought in the harvest, all on our own but we thank you anyway.)

I agree. I was driving tractors when I was about 10 and was in a truck when I was about 13 not on a main road but still driving. At 15 I thought I was king shit when I was combining wheat. I knew the consequense of f%&*ing up not only could I get hurt or killed but I had to ansuer to Dad and Grandpa that put the fear of death into me. I have a cousin who rides snowmobile with us all the time, he's 12 now and has been riding for 4 years. Not just around the farm but 80 to 100 mile trips on state trails. I trust him over many of the adults I ride with. He also can run a backhoe better than most contractors I know. I do think 3 or 4 is to young even for a tandem, I don't think they can realy understand whats going on. However if a 14 year old can comprehend the ground school and has been around the sport all there life go for it. One of my instructors said he was jumping at 16 and jumped into his high school I thought that was cool. I regret not having started earlier in my life, I'm 29 I could have been jumping for years. I'm starting to rant so I'll stop here.
