A good friend has a Ford diesel and has had trouble with the engine. It won't start without being pluged in if it's below 30 out. So when we go snowmobiling guess who gets to tow the trailer,me. Also our squad van at the fire co. is a Ford diesel and never sits out and starts hard.

Comon talk to this guy. He's going nuts laying in bed with nothing to do. Hope that helps

How could the dealer be so dumb to do that, or am I missing something. Don't you think they should've been a little suspicious when they delivered it.
-
I thought I was the only one that did that. I also have been known to do it the next day while working.

What do skydivers in Iowa do during the off season...

They're talking about making the old elevator in town into an indoor rock climing place. It's about all it's good for so I thik it's a great idea. I'd like to try the ice climing though, that looks like fun. Ultill I started jumping I wouldn't have thought about this because I was not good with heights, thats all changed now. -
I bought a K2500hd Chevy about a year ago. Mine has a 6L gas but has plenty of power for what I do. Not the best milage but good power pulls a 20ft equipment trailer like nothing, and wagons with 8 ton of grain or fertilizer up hill and will hold comming back down. I also plow snow with it and it handles a 9ft plow great. I've never had a problem with a GM trany (knock on wood) and have abused them pretty bad. Plowed with several and always am pulling something trailer, wagons, machinery. As for the diesel I can't say much about a Chevy. I looked into one but couldn't justify the extra expense. You can get one with an Allison auto tranny and that would be great. I don't like Fords, never have. They just don't seem to have the comforts of a Chevy and they ride like a lumber wagon. Also the Ford is way to high off the ground, a friend has one and it's as high up as my six wheelers. I think Dodge's look nice but don't trust a Dodge. They always seem to have trouble with something and are just genneraly built cheeper. Sorry I got long winded on that. Hope that helped. Marc

I saw this in Progressive Farmer last month but haven't read it yet. I'll have to go read the article soon. -
The Atkins diet didn't get popular till Dr Atkins died. Sorta like an artist.

Roundup ready corn is one as well as some countries don't want Roundup soybeans. There are soybeans and corn that go there, just not the GMO typs.

Wrong! It is true some things can't go to the E.U. but many others can. Besides they are only a small part of the world market. Much of our grain and meat go to Aisan countries. Our biggest competetors there are from S. America and Canada. There cheep curency has realy hurt us in recent years.

Like others said I wanted to do it once to say I'd done it. After the first tandem I wasn't hooked, but a couple days later it sank in how cool this is and signed up for AFF and the rest is history. In my short time in the sport I'v found comeradery teamwork and a thrill that can't be mached. I love being out side and looking at the land, and I now know there's no better way to do it than from 14,000ft.

I have asthma and never had a problem. I've scuba dived before and love skydiving. I will admit that I can't run very far without being short of breath, but I can also mow hay in the heat and dust all day with no problems. Check with your doctor and see what can be done to get and keep it in check.

I may be simple minded but the week dollar is good for me. Exports of farm products has been held down by the strong dollar for years. Now that the dollar is slipping exports have gone way up, and when that happens prices normaly follow. As for inflation debt can be paid off more easily durring inflation. For example if I have a morgage for 100K at 4.25% (which I do) and I pay $850 per month. The amount of debt doesn't increase with inflation but the amount of dollars you get for your crops sold does. Not only is there more demand by world markets but comodity prices tend to follow inflation upwards. There for I now have more money to pay a debt that was secured in times of lower prices. The only catch is interest rates. However if you can pay back the debt at say twice the rate you had intended that shouldn't be a real problem.

It seems people like to sell kids short on everything. I'm not saying they can do everything but some are more capable of sports, jobs, tasks, exc. than adults. I know some kids who are better snowmobilers than many adults that I've rode with. I've known kids who worked with there fathers in construction and were better operators than any of the adults. Some of the firefighters sons and daughters in our department are far more help at a fire than many of the firefighters and safer and more knowledgeable to. I have allways been around adult things and have spent time with kids that were raised the same way and they allways seem to turn out a lot better than the ones that are kept away and told they can't because of there age. Someday hopefully I'll have a family and don't plan on leaving the kids at home. Where I go they'll go, wether to a tractor pull, snowmobiling, doing everyday farm work, or the DZ they will be there. Thats the best way I've seen yet to get your kids follow in your foot steps.

Keep a video camera handy. You may be able to sell to REAL TV.

I agree with you 100% on this thread.

Talk to someone from a dealer, mechanic, or a body shop. I'm not shure disconecting the battery would do it. I don't think I'd try it without getting someones profesional opinion first.
-
When I was a kid I spent a lot of time welding things to the vice in the shop. Stick welding takes practice to get good. It's one thing I can toot my horn about because not many people can do it any more, and it's all I've ever done. A neighbor wrecked the computer in there new tractor last spring because he was welding on a bracket for a tool box.
-
Your right. However there's no reason why someone like yourself should've been held back because of age. It all depends on the situation. I'm almost twice your age and will never even be half the skydiver you were at 14.
-
They show some f*^%ed up stuff on that show. I still watch mostly to see skydiving. As for the 13 year old part. Thats been hashed out here before and I don't see where that has anything to do with it.
-
Oh and be shure to disconect the battery if you weld on the truck. Welding and electrical systems don't go well together.
-
Be a reel man and weld with a stick. Arc welding sheet metal is a reel challenge.
-
Just did it. May 13, 2045 at age 71. Probable cause horrible accident. Gee do you think skydiving may have had something to do with it?

I've been watching it and it's a riot. Maybe it's just that I like watching city people have trouble with things I've done all my life.
