Re: Busted. Have you ever been caught in the "Act"

Oh boy!!! I was in the military, living in the dorms on base. Was having a great time, drinks-a-flowing, music was loud...well apparently too loud as the security forces were called, and apparently were banging on my metal door with MAG lights and I didn't hear them right away......(must have not been knocking very loud) Well they got the master key from the dorm manager and opened it up.....and well found me and a "friend" engaging in a furious act of ....well.....ya know ....I didn't stop at first..just looked back and gave them the dude nod. You know that nod of the head when guys see each other...mind you I was drunk, so was she.....then it clicked...."oh shit"......stopped...stood there naked....and said..."not good huh"? The SF sergeant said....turn that damn music down......I did.....then he said "carry on" and smiled...... Ahhh memories!!! -
Sorry, guess I didn't make that too clear....my "issue" was simply with the chin strap that came with it helmet originally. In all the advertising that was out at the time (para-gear catalog/websites/etc) it was shown with the seat belt style chin strap. So I was under the impression that's what I would get with my order. What arrived was a plastic clip with a thin piece of pad threaded through the strap. It was large and uncomfortable. It (the chin strap/pad) covered from my chin to the middle of my throat...just was really uncomfortable. So the helmet fit wasn't the problem. It fit great, and even better when baked, it was simply the comfort of the chin-strap. . I do agree with you, trying on as many as possible was the key for me. Like I said previously I tired the Gunner, Pimpdaddy, Z1-Evo, etc...and the gunner's comfort/fit was what sold me.

Ahh..I just went through this exact decision. I chose the Gunner! You are correct that the chin strap closure is now a plastic clip, with a thread through cushion padding. The minute mine arrived I was not happy with it. It was big and uncomfortable. So...whatcha think I did??? Called Linda @ Bonehead and had a metal seat belt style shipped out. The 1st one got lost in the mail. Still hasn't arrived. I contacted Linda again, and within 2 days (talked to her Monday, on Wednesday it arrived) and I had it. The installation on it is a bit of a pain...but man, what a difference in comfort, simply on the chin strap. I tried on a few pimpdaddy's/mindwarps/z-1 evo, etc...and the GUNNER one was 10x better IMO. Comfortable, sweet lookin'....can't go wrong...my review is also in the gear section. Hope this helps!

This has been a very interesting discussion. I'm going to think it over more, and get the consensus@ my DZ. Thanks all, this has been informative! I appreciate it!

This is the first helmet I've purchased and the comfort and fit are top notch. I had tried on many open face helmets prior to choosing the Gunner and in my opinion it was the most comfortable. I got the standard black carbon fibre matte finish which is duller than what's standard on the pimp daddy. I like this much better! My only reservation on the Gunner is the chin strap closure. The "standard" chin strap is a plastic buckle with a small oval shaped padded weaved through the strap. Not 100% comfortable, and shows wear quickly. I had anticipated the metal seatbelt style with flag logo when I ordered it due to all advertisment photos (website/para-gear catalog). I ended up purchasing this from Bonehead directly. Customer Service from BH is average. I ordered the chinstrap 2 weeks ago, and have yet to recieve it. Overall, I'm very pleased with this helmet. Comfort and Fit alone sold me on it, and would highly reccomend it!

I have Life Insurance, through NY LIfe. It covers skydving and all other "activities" I choose to participate in. Granted I secured the coverage before I was an active, licensed, member of USPA jumper. At that point I was not a skydiver, so I got a great rate.

Well sort of....I picked up and left Hampton, VA and moved to Tallahassee, FL. It was a bit nerve racking. Especially with no job. My roomate at the time and I drove down and secured a place to live, then came back to VA. Packed up, and left. Got down there, found a job (retail management) for the time being until I got settled in. Enrolled in schoool, and got on with life. It was tough, but in the long run, a great experience and glad I did it. Been thinking about doing it again sometime, seeing as though I'm back in VA again. This time will be tougher,...own a home, married, jobs, etc...but ya never know. All I'd say is follow your heart, get your stuff lined up, do some research (don't go blind), and go for it.
