While I've never meet you in person, I've read your many posts. Laughed a whole lot, learned even more. For what it's worth my thoughts and prayers are with you. Take care of yourself.

What if your significant other screwed around?
Spatula replied to mardigrasbob's topic in The Bonfire
I'd bounce her ass to the frickin curb! That shit's ridiculous. Scum sucking bastards! If you consider cheating then you should not be in that relationship, period. I was cheated on once and it sucked bad! So her ass is divorced---plain and simple---no inbetween. Life to short to deal with bullshit.... Sorry, one of those topics that fires me up. Can't stand it when people cheat on there significant others. it's crap.. -
Notta!! That simple, no questions asked. I believe in the vows I took when I got married, and cheerish them. People who comprimise these....well .....are STUPID!!!! But that's just my 2c

Not that this goes with anything, but ...there is a sign at a gas station in Cananda (clifton hill) and it says "Beaver works hard to save you money" Always thought that was funny.

Even as a newbie to this sport, I hear this statement all the time. "You can do everything right, and still die". Well in my PSY class last night we were talking about some topics and skydiving of course came to mind, especially this statement. What is "in" your control....gear checks, safety measures, jump conditions, etc...(I'm sure this list can grow...limited knowledge)..... What's "out" of your control when it comes to making a skydive? I'm really curious about this? Hopefully you can see my point and I articulated well enough, if not...let me know and I'll try again....thanks a bunch all!!

Great information from everyone, but Nightingale....how do you find a "good" lawyer? I hate to just pick one out of the yellow pages.

I would totally appreciate it!!! Please PM me his number. I for the most part gave up the thought of jumping due to L. Insurance, but I had to keep looking....any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Ok, let me elaborate my question..... What life insurance carieer are you with that doesn't charge you and arm and a leg for skydiving? USAA wants a high risk activity rider to be added if I skydive. Who are you with that won't require that rider but still cover you for a skydiving related death? Thanks.
-
I'm prior military, and USAA was one of the companies that gave me the high quote for life insurance (I'm a member). Who is MOAA? I'll be giving them a call real soon!!!

Hey all I know this issue has been beatin' to death, but I have a question that I believe has not been addressed and I'm curious what others have to say. So here goes.... I'm on a undefined skydiving hiatus. Meaning I've finally saved up the money for training and gear but what has put me on hold is life insurance. When I get quotes the minute I mention skydiving the price jumps from like $280 a year for 500k, to $2800-$3200 for the same policy. That basically throws the whole thing out the door. So my question is how do I find out if a policy will cover a skydiving related death without taking out the policy and mentioning my intentions to skydive? Does that make sense? I've read that some have had a policy and after "x" amount of time after the policy goes into effect the carrier is stuck with you, or the fine print says that it will cover a death related to skydiving, etc.... So how do I find out this information? If the policies fine print says it will cover, or the time it would take before the insurer would be stuck with me ? Thanks everyone!!!

My wife and I switched to half-n-half coffee (half decaf, half regular). Didn't even notice it....do that, then after a few weeks switch to decaff.....

Hey everyone! Well I'm ready to go car shopping. I'm after a 04 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Anyone have any advice for dealing with car dealers? I have all the research ready...invoice, incentives, etc...just not sure how to negotiate the best deal. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!

If you've read the incidents there was a fatality @ Skydive Suffolk recently. I'm not trying to debate what he did wrong, why he flying canopy "x"...but what I'm curious is how have you that have lost a friend in this sport dealt with it? Did you learn anything from the incident? I'm just curious. I met Goose here on DZ.com and chatted with him a few times via email @ at the DZ. He was a great guy. I'm just kinda in shock, as this comes at a time when I'm contemplating my involvement in the sport. Mainly because of financial reasons at the moment. Life insurance is just so expensive and being married I couldn't jump with clear mind not having insurance knowing my wife wouldn't be left with a mortgage and bills.....so anyways....
