  1. I'm guessing that this is just your approach to practice flaring, doing x9. Any reason for x9? Or just your way to figure out that canopy?
  2. When you demo a canopy what are your "objectives"? I've demo'd once before and before each jump decided I'd focus on a few things to learn about that particular canopy. For example: 1st Jump: -Practice flares--noting how far to flare and when I let up how it recovered. -Rear Riser turns and flare--paying attention to amount of input needed, etc -toggle turns (90 & 180)--paying attention to speed and input pressure, etc. 2nd Jump: -Practice flares -More toggle turns (360's and up) plus faster turns, etc.. -Front Risers--pressure used etc... etc....now I'm not including landing and all that, hoping you get my point. So what are your "objectives" when demo'ing a canopy. I'm looking to purchase a new canopy and am interested in everyone's approach to demoing. Reason I ask is I have a demo canopy for this weekend.
  3. All the info is in the SIM, look there. Then talked to your home DZ about water training. If they don't offer it, start calling the next closest DZ and inquire. Take the test, do the H2O training, mail the forms and send some $$$....

    Good FreeFly Suit

Just throwing this out there in case you haven't ordered yet..but have you contacted some of the manufacturers for their stock suits? I was down in Z-hills, walked into Tony suits....had Tony actually measure me himself...show me a stock suit he had...325 price new.....175 is what I paid. It's awesome..fits great.... just a thought....
  5. Just got back from Orlando with the family. Basically I planed a day of jumping. So while I was jumping, they were doing other stuff. I did take my wife to the tunnel and is was a blast. I highly suggest it. Plus it's pretty cheap...$30ish for a two minute intro flight (with coupon--get it on their site). As far as DZ, I went to Z-hills. The DZ itself was great. I'd never seen a DZ with so many amenities (gear store, food, internet, etc). I did have some things that I wasn't pleased with, actaully annoyed with but I'll chaulk it up to "shit happens". Overall I'd say just plan a day for jumping (or how many you need) and set up activities for your family.

    Tunnel Trip

I'm heading to SVO on the 20th for 10-15 minutes of flying time. While I figured bringing my suit, helmet and gloves woudl be good. Could anyone reccommend anythign else to bring? My time is @ 6pm...so I was thinking maybe my Under Armour also... suggestions?
  7. I do for the most part. Usually last jump of the day I'm put the canopy (daisy chained) into a miltary gear bag and close it. Pack it at home the next day. Well I'm glad to know I can use the canopy for a while and grow with it. My plan is to put about 100 jumps on it then grab something Z/P in the same ballpark (210ish). Thanks
  8. Ahh, forgot to add those important factors. Loading it @ 1.05 Jumping in "grass of Virginia" (Skydive the Point) Packing indoors Thanks for the reply.
  9. Whoops, wrong forum...can a moderator slide this over to the Gear & Rigging? Sorry about that.
  10. As you could see from my profile, I jump a Falcon 215. When I bought my rig (used) this canopy had just under 300 jumps on it. I've put approx 15 jumps on it. Realistically, how many jump can I expect to get out of the canopy before it becomes shows signs of age (It's DOM is 2/92)? I obviously want to get a z/p canopy, but that won't happen for a while. To this point all the jumps have been great with the Falcon. Landings/flare has been fine. What are signs of aging in an "f-111" canopy? Aside from line condition. Can you tell by inspecting the fabric, or when landing/flying the canopy? Thanks!
  11. Very sweet rig!!! Is the backpad you have there an upgrade? Looks nice.
  12. No offense but did you take the time to look @ the "Dropzones" tab above, and call some? http://www.dropzone.com/dropzone/North_America/United_States/Georgia/index.html Give some a call, your answer lies there.
  13. I had been thinking suit but wasn't quite sure. I'm going to be in Z-hills in a couple weeks getting some freefly coaching to start me off on the right foot. I was going to ask them also, but was curious what others thought too.
  14. Fall rate according to others is "fast". That doesn't say much. I'm 6'1, 200lbs without gear. So 225-230 with. I don't have any audible speeds to truly know yet though.
  15. I'm trying to decide which to get, freefly pants or a suit?? I've asked around @ my DZ with the local freeflyr's and gotten a mixed response. I've decided to go with LiquidSky either way after seeing the quailty up close. Awesome stuff!!! So which would it be, any why? ?? Freefly pants or suit???
  16. Not necessarily...I was hired to pack/run manifest without any knowledge of packing prior. But I started training in the winter to be ready for spring/summer. Call the DZ's, don't just email. Go there and speak to the DZO in person. You may have a different result.
  17. Dude!!!!!!! All you need is some oversized sunglasses!!! That's priceless.......
  18. I have a gunner and love it!! Its super comfortable, 2 audible pockets....my only quam was the chin strap....but that's good to go now (fastex clip) and sewed it down some...it's sweet...
  19. Must agree...I have a Falcon 215 with about 315 jumps on it. Starting to land a bit "stiffer" ....I'm in the market for a ZP....asta la pronto!!! Wanna buy a Falcon 215?
  20. Mirage - inside of main pack tray
  21. I bought all used! Got a great deal on a used container with only 75 jumps on it (Mirage). I'm looking to replace the main in the spring as it's a Falcon 215 and I'd like something ZP. But aside from that I intend to keep this setup for a long time.
  22. You could come down to Skydive the Point in West Point VA!!! We should have a PAC750 this weekend...The link is in my signature
