Funny thing about something as subjective as that - you could say the same thing about you. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

Weather Wimp! Winter finally showed up this weekend with real temp at 11F and -13F with the winds. Looks like that is here to stay for the next week. Life was good once I broke out the humidfier. I'm scared to see next months heat bill - the one for the last 30 days was $209! (and I keep my place at 65F with a brand new efficient furnace) 0:0:0 this weekend and it was too cold to go trap shooting, but two really cool parties - one skydiver and one whuffo (called it an early night for that one - I refused to wait outside in line to get into the 2nd club). You would never know Chicago was such a small town - but while we were having our holiday skydiver gathering the Baglanders showed up for the same idea! We took the place over and played jump videos on the big screen to a packed house of whuffos. Never knew that the cuisine from Ecuador was that good, good times had by all. No vacation time this year so I will be sitting at home watching rentals on Xmas day. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... They never said "only 10" they said "the 10 highest ranking" I didn't see spin in that. My reading comprehension skills made me believe there were more delegates there from the way they had it worded. How many do you think Ridge actually met with? Huh? Could you point out where in that article it said anything about Bush? This is a rip on the DHS and their money spending habits. This even came from a person within the DHS. You want to see this as Bush bashing when it was DHS bashing. Mostly paid for by sponsors, the rest was picked up by the DHS. I believe the artilcle documented the money problems that office is having. How is Ridge taking time to work on his tan during "office" hours on the taxpayer's dollars helping us? Says the man that posts every piece of NRA propaganda and pro-gun stories. (and before you think I am anti-gun, just remember I am a gun owner) _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Flying aeroplanes versus jumping from them...
ChasingBlueSky replied to LearningTOfly's topic in The Bonfire
We will see how much my skydiving suffers after I get back into flight school in the spring. Either way, I don't care as long as I am in the air. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again..... -
Comments like that are what destroy your credibility here. Why? _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

I'm sure there would have been confusion and delay between Gale's first shots and deploying the CCW. Gale was able to reload and continue firing. Four people were killed an two other wounded. Gale also took a hostage when police responded. The citizen could have been stunned, reacted, moved to the small cover offered by teh front of the stage, lifted his shirt, drawn, aimed, and fired in what, 25 seconds, tops? How long did it take for police to arrive? 1) Do you think that citizen would have the ability to shoot another person, and to shoot accuratly enough to hit the shooter, and just the shooter? Even been to a small venue concert? I have, a few hundred times. I've been to concerts where huge fights break out and I have taken some hits from the cops as they went after the perps because it was so crowded (I watched one person get pushed off a stage and bust his femur). A gun in an event like that?? Did you see what happened in Chicago with the mass exodus to the exit at Club E? Or the panic after the fire at the Station with the Great White concert? 2) Dimebag was shot in the face - two quick shots to the face in a matter of seconds would have ended his life even if there was someone with a gun in the building. Everyone thought the guy was part of the act and allowed him to go on stage and approach him. Dimebag was dead the second that guy stepped on stage. 25 seconds to draw another gun would not have saved a life - it doesn't matter how long it took the cops to get there....what matters is how long before he received critcal care. From some of the reports I have head, Dimebag was dead the moment he hit the ground. 3) The shooter ended up dead anyhow, the only thing that changed was the location of his death since there was no gun in the theatre. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... You didn't read the full article did you? The delegates at the meeting are stationed in Washington DC. Ridge could have walked to their offices. Here is that quote: This is disgusting as well: _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

Shouldn't that mean the warm weather should have returned here??? It's -13F with the winds today! Going to be this way for the next week of so. It will be a blue Xmas simply because you will be frozen! _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Music Downloading...where can I download LEGALLY?
ChasingBlueSky replied to mouth's topic in The Bonfire
iTunes is mostly proprietary. If I am not mistaken everything is in AAC format. If you want songs that will play in any player you want MP3 encoding/compression. As much as I hate Real - their setup is pretty good. I will have to check out what Cornoholio was talking about. I only download the music I don't want to buy a CD for - and I only go for the cheaper services. If I like the group I will purchase the CD (usually from the used CD store) so I can have the better sounding, uncompressed songs when I want them. FYI - Every song on my MP3 player is fully legal! _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again..... -
http://www.cinescape.com/0/editorial.asp?aff_id=0&this_cat=Movies&action=page&type_id=&cat_id=270338&obj_id=43171 Harrison Ford is now attached to play real-life U.S military General Jim Mattis in NO TRUE GLORY: THE BATTLE FOR FALLUJAH. The movie will be based on the non-fiction book being written by Bing West, a journalist reporting on the Iraq War, which is to be published come next May. The movie will center on the recent American forces attack on the insurgent-held city of Fallujah led by Mattis. The conflict arose first when four Americans were captured, killed and hanged off of a bridge in the city. That act led to the White House ordering their forces in on the city, but with victory within their grasp, orders from the top came down easing off the U.S. attack. Six months later the ground and air assault happened again, with American forces eventually taking over complete control of the city. Michael Shamburg and Stacey Sher have optioned the book's rights for their production company, Double Feature, which has a first-look deal with Universal Pictures. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Bright clear blue skies with no winds today. About 35F outside...pretty warm if you ask me! No need for gloves and didn't need to button the coat or use a hat today. I may need to wear gloves if I go shooting this weekend, however. Looks like it will get bitter cold (8F) tomorrow night with some snow. Still, I have no complaints since this is one of the warmest and most mild winters I can recall. The only time I can remember one this tame we got hit with a major blizzard in March...so keeping my fingers that won't happen this year. After almost six years in the sport, I don't mind taking a month or two off to get some whuffo stuff done and to let the savings rebuild. The winter is good for that. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

Check out www.iriveramerica.com....I had a chance to play with one the other day and they are possibly one of the best MP3 players on the market. The higher end ones like the 340 are great and have the FM Tuner built in...you can even get a Photo viewer version right now. The Creative Zen is great as well. If you are looking for a tiny little solid state MP3 player, check out the smaller iRiver's or the Zepp. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Complete and total time control. Think of how many skydives you could get out of one ride to altitude? At pull time you would just rewind time to jump run! There would always be enough time in a day and when you got off work at 5pm, you could stop time and be at the dz at 5:01. Need more time to sleep? Not a problem? Need money? Watch the lotto, watch a horse race, etc, then turn back time and bet on them. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Are you not the guy that went off several times about why we shouldn't care about what Hollywood actors say? Now you say we should? Flip flop much? Then again, the repubs are the ones that keep voting in actors. I know my motto in life has been "If Chevy Chase says it, it must be true!" Also - what the hell is the big deal if he expresses his opinion? How is it any different than the junk that gets said on this board? Just because he is in front of a Mic/camera and gets a bigger paycheck than most means his thoughts matters more? Why should he watch his language if the VP doesn't? After all that - I tend to agree with what he said.

What can we do about Skyride?
ChasingBlueSky replied to ChasingBlueSky's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Agreed, there is a fair amount of repeats in here. I've said several times that this marketing style is not a bad thing and that it could be done right. This is why I keep pointing out the focus towards the theft of material and bait/switch practices. As Jan pointed out earlier, other DZs are starting to do the samething, but without theft. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 1 - and its always that way. I like a clean car, clear of clutter, including the trunk. I keep in it just what I need. I wasn't always that way, but once I had my car broken into and had stuff stolen, I tend to keep very little in there. (one of the reasons I got an MP3 player was to have no CDs in the car anymore). The only time it is a mess is when I pack up for a road trip to a boogie or to the cabin for snowmobiles/fishing, rafting, etc. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... National Crisis may shut down GPS
ChasingBlueSky replied to ChasingBlueSky's topic in Speakers Corner
This is interesting. Saw this on Slashdot and a few other places today. Anyone familiar with GPS that can explain how they could shut down public usage but still allow aviation or military use? http://cnn.netscape.cnn.com/ns/news/story.jsp?id=2004121521290001739682&dt=20041215212900&w=APO&coview= _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me....
