Iran will talk with the US about Nukes
ChasingBlueSky replied to ChasingBlueSky's topic in Speakers Corner
I still can't decide if this is a great bluff or if they are really trying to defuse the situation over there. Either way, I hope the White House is smart enough to try the talks. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20041214/ap_on_re_mi_ea/iran_us_nuclear&e=3&ncid= Some of the article: _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... US Troops using scrap metal for armor
ChasingBlueSky replied to ChasingBlueSky's topic in Speakers Corner
I'm thinking that if Bush stopped handing out "no bid" contracts they could get the Haliburton services at a competitive price. Bills getting shot down in Congress will always happen - Bush has direct control over who was getting the money allocated already. If the troops need to work with what they have, then Bush should have to do that as well. Learn Quickbooks and spur competitve pricing for contracts and they will have more money leftover. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... It doesn't need to be both sets of grandparents. I haven't looked into doing it for a few years - not since 9/11 and don't know if anything has changed since then. When/If I finally get back to Europe I will look into it again just to make travel easier. So? If anything the hyphen makes it easier to say what your heritage is without letting go of your nationality. Besides, maybe all of those Irish in Oz aren't proud of how their families got started there _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Alright then, how about this. The war started in March 2003 - we are about to hit the two year mark. How much more time is needed to ramp up production? How many more billions are needed? Sounds like someone in the DOD needs to learn how to use Quickbooks. Maybe we can pay a little less to Haliburton or refuse their jacked up prices so our troops can get what they need? _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... McCain: 'No Confidence' in Rumsfeld
ChasingBlueSky replied to ChasingBlueSky's topic in Speakers Corner
You have to wonder how many more people have to point out the screw ups about this war before Bush and Rummy do something about it. You have the people that were forced into retirement before the war, the troops are speaking out, and now McCain. It is really feeling like McCain is going to throw his hat in the ring in 2007. http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20041213/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe/mccain_interview By BETH DeFALCO, Associated Press Writer PHOENIX - U.S. Sen. John McCain said Monday that he has "no confidence" in Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, citing Rumsfeld's handling of the war in Iraq and the failure to send more troops. McCain, speaking to The Associated Press in an hourlong interview, said his comments were not a call for Rumsfeld's resignation, explaining that President Bush "can have the team that he wants around him." "I have strenuously argued for larger troop numbers in Iraq, including the right kind of troops — linguists, special forces, civil affairs, etc.," said McCain, R-Ariz. "There are very strong differences of opinion between myself and Secretary Rumsfeld on that issue." When asked if Rumsfeld was a liability to the Bush administration, McCain responded: "The president can decide that, not me." McCain, a decorated Navy veteran and former Vietnam prisoner of war, is a senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, which has oversight of military operations and considerable influence over the Pentagon budget. Pentagon spokesman Larry Di Rita said McCain "has frequently expressed his views regarding troop levels in Iraq, and he is an important member" of the committee. Rumsfeld has "relied upon the judgment of the military commanders to determine what force levels are appropriate for the situation at hand," Di Rita said. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Exactly. And if you have to do it, do it right. We use VPN with one time pad RSA Radius keys. I have the nifty RSA SecurID key-fob version myself. I've always wondered about those FOBs - have you ever had the keys not match up? What happens when the battery dies - how do you sync it back up? I always thought that a bluetooth version of that FOB would be a great idea if you had a switch to turn off the broadcast. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Curious - could IPSEC be used? I've only done workshops with it and never used it in practice. But VPN was my thought as well. What do you think of "Gotomypc.com" web based application? For a while that is how the execs here were doing remote access to their email before our web based exchange was online. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Off topic here but did you see that making contact with the incoming projectile is NOT an objective in the testing happening in Alaska? _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again..... -
There is a Howl in Chicago as well. I saw a couple dual piano bars in New Orleans. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

Just curious if you would consider re-taking Fajula a minor offensive? Last I heard they needed to call up more troops to Iraq due to this battle and the troops that will need to remain in the city so we don't lose it again. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Especially if, as someone else pointed out, they have never set foot on the continent, nor do they know anything at all about being African (or Irish). Since I spent 7 weeks working in Ireland doing volunteer social work in churches and spending the weekends on my family farm and traveling the entire country ....and that I only have to file the paperwork to get an Irish passport in my name since my grandparents were from there (would make life easier traveling in EC countries).....does this give me the right??? I never really liked using the hyphenated term for me - then my family in Ireland thought it was respectful of the family roots and said I should be using it. Either way it really doesn't matter to me what you call me, I don't use it on any forms and I never ask anyone to refer to me that way. It's something I will mention when asked. Do I care that anyone will have an issue with me saying it? Nope, not at all. Like I said - I just don't understand the fuss everyone makes about this. Does it really effect your day-to-day being??? _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

0 Jumps - weather sucked, winter is really here now - only three months to go until spring. 5 (or was it more) bottles of wine and a fun movie night with some jumpers on Friday (who knew they could cook that good!). Beer owed for my first time going Trap Shooting today! I'm hooked and going again next weekend...and there is a shotgun on my new toy wishlist now. Got to play with a Remington Model 1100 (12 gauge) with winds gusting 25-30mph (that made it very interesting). Scored 8 on my first set and 9 on my second (My friend Mike scored 16 on his 3rd set, ever). I also had a chance to use the double barrel in #12 below. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... U.S. soldier gets 3 years for killing Iraqi
ChasingBlueSky replied to Botellines's topic in Speakers Corner
As it turns out, one of the other soldiers in this mess is a friend of a friend. I was sent this link earlier in the week before this decision came down: http://www.petitiononline.com/as124/petition.html If you want it to be known that you want to really support our troops, sign it. This is the body of the email that was sent with it: As a Veteran myself, I can understand the travesty and heartbreak a soldier is challenged with when encountering the ruthlessness of war. Taking a life is a life changing experience in itself, that takes a lifetime of healing and forgiveness. Putting somewhat out of his misery when they are burned beyond recognition or shot beyond recognition can be a decision that only trained The Vietnam Veteran fought in an era, not a war. The USA never declared Vietnam as a war, only a conflict. The men and women who lost there lives from 1946-1974 during this Vietnam Conflict would tend to agree that Vietnam was a war!. It has always been my belief that Vietnam existed because if Political and Economic sanctions and issues our government created. This lack of USA support to our soldiers then and and now is still a reminder of how far removed we are from real life threatening issues our brave soldiers are faced with in Iraq. As Americans we have a responsibility to support our government, defend our freedom and take a personal responsibility to vote and voice our opinion to our Congressman, Senators, who we elected. I feel compelled to say that "We the People" have all the power, we just don't use it as effective as we should. Strength is in Unity, and "we the people" can make a difference on issues concerning Iraq, if we stand together. When our country asked our young soldiers to defend this great nation in Iraq, whether they believed in the war or not, they went! The USA has an obligation to support those members who serve in wartime theaters, and acknowledge the instant decisions our soldiers are faced with ,to protect their lives and the lives of their comrades. Our soldiers are trying to keep peace in a nation controlled by sadistic and evil rulers who don't care about the USA or our mission. Remember the people we are fighting who are ruthless and fear nothing. The Middle East and Iraq have been at war for thousands of years, I personally don't feel that fighting for Democracy in Iraq has a snowball in hell's chance of being accomplished without huge American life losses and financial strains on the American almighty economy. I cant defend Erik Anderson regarding his actions concerning the incident, because I'm not privy of the mission he was on, or the facts since I have not heard his side of the story, or the descion he has had to make at a split moments notice in a country that is plagued with terrorism. It would be next to impossible to identify the enemy and know who not to shoot. My heart and conscious tells me that soldiers who serve during these types of conditions should be given amnesty for making decisions that were beyond there control. Soldiers have a moral and humane obligation in life to reduce pain and suffering in certain conditions that are out of their control ,especially in a wartime arena. My thoughts and prayers are with all the families who must witness the lack of compassion our Government shows toward these types of situations. I will make a donation in support of this young man because he is a soldier in need of hope from the Americans who live far way from harms way. The message will be heard loud and far to future American Soldiers who may encounter similar situations. How do you think they will feel, knowing they could be incarcerated for doing their duty as a soldier and human being? _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... My current school is getting ready to get Title IV funding and that last school I worked at did have it. Anything connected to the FAFSA will have payments kick in six months after you drop below full time status. That's so weird. I was part time when I was granted the loans. hmm. -A Hmmm...I will have to double check - none of our students are allowed to go PT so I am not as informed in that area. There could be another provision on that relating to deferment. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Nope. Chemical Engineering. -A The Tech Writing should really help in that area - but why the C++? Plus as Brian pointed out, it would defer any student loans you currently have by moving into the full time column. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I agree with what Phree said about C++, plus you will want that AA degree on your resume. Tech Writing is always a great skill...plus Rory would be great to hit up for some help. I'm taking a wild guess that you are going into IT? _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

It's the Westin, part of the Starwood properties. The Heavinly bed is comfortable, and can easily be purchased from them if you would like. It is made by Simmons and is a no-flip(cheaper way to make a matress and charge you more for it) I would not purchase this bed myself, as you can find nicer beds at the same price that will last longer. Think Verlo. But anyway- The Westin on Michigan Ave is nice. Truth is the only Hotels I have stayed at Downtown are the Hilton and the Westin. I prefer the Westins because they are "Pet-Friendly". I never would have thought you would be giving advice on styles of bedding!!! _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... And Hooters! shhhh! that Hooters has a long enough line already...no need to late anyone else know about it!! There are reasons why that one is so popular! _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

Well, that is a city view of Oak Lawn! Not that there is much to see but pure middle class suburbia main street. BTW - that building the Hilton is in has to be well over 30 years old now - and it's in better shape since Hilton took it over. At least its a short walk from White Castle. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

What can we do about Skyride?
ChasingBlueSky replied to ChasingBlueSky's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I don't think it should be changed - the focus needs to be on the persons and/or company that is doing the theft and bait/switch. Pointing fingers at the DZ (and possibly the jumpers) is the wrong place to look and it will become a witch hunt then. Focus on what is going wrong and needs to be changed and the solution will be easier. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... That's an awesome offer... might want to post it in a different thread so it gets looked at by folks who haven't already made their plans. The kids here already have quite the bantering going on. And it's one hell of a bus! I've only seen a few decked out as nice as this one. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
