Illinois Governor: Fill Contraception scripts
ChasingBlueSky replied to ChasingBlueSky's topic in Speakers Corner
Funny how you don't hear them giving lectures about viagra or any other meds. Where does the Parmacist get to draw the line??? I'm glad our Gov came out with very strong words on this subject. I'm thinking it shouldn't be too long before GW is involved in this to take away another right from the state (and women). _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Isn't it odd that two of the best political commentators in this country are stand up comedians? Bill Maher and Jon Stewart. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

Illinois Governor: Fill Contraception scripts

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-050401blago,1,6669620.story?coll=chi-news-hed Gov: Pharmacies must fill birth control orders quickly By Maura Kelly Lannan The Associated Press Published April 1, 2005, 2:41 PM CST Gov. Rod Blagojevich filed an emergency rule Friday requiring pharmacies that sell contraceptives to fill prescriptions for birth control quickly, following recent incidents in which a Chicago pharmacist refused to fill orders for contraceptives because of moral opposition. "Our regulation says that if a woman goes to a pharmacy with a prescription for birth control, the pharmacy or the pharmacist is not allowed to discriminate or to choose who he sells it to or who he doesn't sell it to,'' Blagojevich said. "The pharmacy will be expected to accept that prescription and fill it ... No delays. No hassles. No lectures.'' Fernando Grillo, head of the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, said the emergency rule clarifies an existing requirement. "This rule is in response, a very affirmative and strong response, that we will not tolerate pharmacies and drug stores in the state of Illinois not meeting their obligation to the women of this state in providing them good health care,'' Grillo said. His department also filed a formal complaint against an Osco pharmacy in Chicago's South Loop where a pharmacist did not fill orders for contraceptives. The pharmacy was cited for ``failing to provide appropriate pharmaceutical care to a patient,'' Blagojevich said. An Osco spokeswoman did not immediately return a call for comment Friday. The formal complaint against the pharmacy starts the disciplinary process, which includes a hearing. Penalties could include a fine, reprimand or revocation of a pharmacy's license. Blagojevich's emergency rule requiring birth control prescriptions be filled without delay at pharmacies that sell contraceptives takes effect immediately, spokeswoman Abby Ottenhoff said. It will remain in effect for 150 days, and the administration will seek to replace it by a permanent rule. Under the emergency rule, if the contraceptive is not in stock, the pharmacy must order it or transfer the prescription to another local pharmacy of the patient's choice, Blagojevich said. If the pharmacist does not fill the prescription because of a moral objection, another pharmacist needs to be available to fill it without delay. Planned Parenthood/Chicago Area CEO Steve Trombley praised the state's efforts Friday. "When medical professionals write prescriptions for their patients, they are acting in their patients' best interests,'' Trombley said. "A pharmacist's personal views cannot intrude on the relationship between a woman and her doctor. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Exactly, a Cardinal is not an ordained position. The Pope grants that to a Bishop. I've met a few Cardinals from a few countries over the years. NONE are socially liberal when it comes to topics of marriage, divorce, abortion, ordination of women, etc. People need to remember that American social views have no impact within the Vatican. A socially liberal Pope will not be chosen. Why? John Paul is considered one of the greatest Pope's in the history of the Catholic Church. The one that follows will take his lead. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

Why would he? He is the living example of Catholic Faith and Belief. All choices will be made in that vein. This Pope was very conservative when it came to popular social issues. Besides, the living will thing is mostly an American issue. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... The simple explanation to this: It made it easier to evangalize the Pagans by tossing some holy water on their pre-existing celebrations. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again..... -
Report says U.S. spy agencies were 'dead wrong' about Iraq
ChasingBlueSky replied to tkhayes's topic in Speakers Corner
But if they had it right, and Bush did nothing, and a bunch of people died... who would be screaming "its Bush's fault, he didn't protect us!" Its easy to say the intel was bad, after the fact... but to be paralyzed by it could have worse consequences. J Well, I guess that justifies us to blow up any threat we have. The "just in case" theory. There are two valid points in this thread: 1) History will eventually label Bush a failure or if he made the right choice. As it is, the area is not stable, 100k+ people are dead combined, world opinion of our country has suffered, no WMD were found, and over two years later the area is still not contained. and 2) If any other country had made this attack we would have stepped in to try to stop it until there was more proof. After the list of failures and oversights grew there would have been a world court on the issue. Bush wanted to play in the big leagues by continuing the family oil war, he needs to accept the possible consequences of it. Just because an order to attack came from the President of the United States does not preclude it from scrutiny. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Last official statement from the Vatican was "clining to life." I have the Noon news on and there is nothing on it. Very odd to see Cardinal George get choked up during his homily today. I may not follow the faith like I once did...and despite the issues I have with the church; John Paul II did a lot for this world. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Pope John Paul II given last rites at Vatican

Chill Winston. That little piece of catholic law was in the book and it was true. Man, I've got to figure out how to get dry humor to translate over the internet better. I knew it was dry humor...but it forces me to roll my eyes everytime someone likes to claim eitehr of the Brown books as fact. Yes, there are facts in it - and he changes the context around them. It's fiction. I will say that when things have changed since I stopped practicing. In that link Universi Dominici Gregis and it's changes happened in 1996 - after I left the Seminary and my studies. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Someone pointed out to me a long time ago that scuba divers that had vanity plates tended to get their cars broken into. Since then I've refused to put anything jump related in plain view on my car and I dumped my vanity plates. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Pope John Paul II given last rites at Vatican

I learned that from Angels and Demons...or was it The Divinci Code? Both are fiction...impossible to learn anything real from those two books. They are full of mistruths. Personally it was nearly eight years in the seminary that taught this to me. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... IIRC the black smoke signals a vote with no result. The white smoke signals a new pope has been chosen. Shortly after that he will be introduced to the world and the name he will choose. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Pope John Paul II given last rites at Vatican
ChasingBlueSky replied to BillyVance's topic in The Bonfire
The common thought is that the next pope will be more conservative that this one. I've had a chance to have a conversation about this with a former Cardinal....and world politics will favor more into this one than in 1978 (the year of three popes). John Paul II was the first non-Italian pope in over 400+ years, and he was from a communist country at that. In most years there is a short list of 3-5 Cardinals that is believed to have a chance to get the Papal Seat. Most of the 100+ Cardinals will already have a good idea who they will vote for before the doors even close. And for those who care, there hasn't been an American Cardinal on that list that I have ever heard of. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Pope John Paul II given last rites at Vatican
ChasingBlueSky replied to BillyVance's topic in The Bonfire
The College of the Cardnials is locked away from the world from 15-20 days to pray and vote for a new pope from within that room. Black and White smoke is used to signal to observers outside how the votes are going. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Not to break anyone's bubble...but it is no longer called last rights, and you can now get it more than once in your life. The Catholic Church realized that the psychological effect of that sacrament could be damaging to someone that had a chance to survive. It is now officially called Annointing of the Sick. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again..... -
Really? I am liberal. I support gun ownership. Therefore your thought is wrong. I just don't campaign for it because I believe other freedoms are more important. I have pointed out a few times the contradictions that both sides use in this forum. If I had a few extra days I could make a list of them. That's why SC is often a dose of comedy for me. Speaking of contradictions. Did everyone see how Bush has flip floped on Right to die? Look up what he voted on in Texas back in 1999. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

Uh, I think the liberal mindset is already pretty much entrenched... Having been in the media I can tell you they are owned and operated by both sides of the fence. That catch phrase makes me laugh at the ignorance behind it. Some of the most conservative people I know are in charge of what goes into print and tv. They are also some of the most powerful men I have ever met....you would never want to cross them. "The liberal media" is just more spin and hype that the sheep love to follow and believe. It's a battle cry of hysteria to get people on their side...furthering what Regan started - making the "liberal" mindset into something bad. People believe it without any proof or investigation...but since one or two people cry it all the time it must be true, right? I group the idiots that claim "liberal media" into the same groups that push any extremist bullshit. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me....
