Then let them ask them??? It's funny hearing people say "oh! I can't wait to post something about that" or figure they have start a bunch of posts in a day for whatever reason....as if they think this is their audience and not a community. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I'm thinking of leaving the sport...........
ChasingBlueSky replied to Viking's topic in The Bonfire
I am at the same place. Used to jump a lot when I had money...it was all I ever wanted. For a while I missed doing 15 jumps a weekend, then I was ok with doing 5, now it's been since Nov and I am not excited about the start of the season. Losing as many friends as I did in such a short time really turned me cold to a lot of the aspects of the sport. On top of that the drama and bs just help drain the spirit from it even more. Plus you really find out in the end that people in this sport are not your brothers/sisters....most are just "people you know." I finally understand what Derrick was talking about. I've had a blast this winter. I picked up other interests and caught up with some old friends. I've had more fun in the last few months than I have in the last year....and all of that without a jump. I have other things I want to do like get back to school and a passion or two I've put off for too long. On top of that I have a couple really positive things that are about to happen and I want the time to enjoy those things. I never wanted to compete in this sport. I face very tough competition in my field on a daily basis and every minute of my day is measured out. There was no need for that on the weekends for me. I never wanted to be a name in this sport or any such skygod goals like that. I just wanted fun. I'm not sure if I am having fun anymore. I'm finding the whuffos really know how to enjoy life as well. If you think otherwise you are just convincing yourself to believe in the subculture hype. I haven't made a final choice yet....and I am planning on making a few jumps this year to figure it out. I'll just fade away if I do, will never say goodbye or make a post about it. (and I won't sell my rig) Why? Because it will be about me, not how many waves I can make or how much attention I can grab. This is about you, not about the sport, not about what others think. Do what is right for you. The sky is going nowhere. And your real friends will still be there for you. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again..... -
For those on the East Coast: Six Flags Great Adventure is building one that is taller and faster called Kingda Ka. 456ft tall, 128mph http://www.sixflags.com/parks/greatadventure/index.asp http://www.sixflags.com/parks/greatadventure/images/golden_kingdom/77.jpg http://www.sixflags.com/parks/greatadventure/golden_kingdom/media.html _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I'd say that the right kind of 4x4 is better in rain and snow...IF its driven correctly. That's a VERY BIG if. I remember driving to work during a blizzard in my '87 Cutlass Salon V-8 .307 with RWD without any problems. It was only 19" inches of snow, so a pretty lame blizzard by our standards. I made the 11 mile trip without a problem (side streets were not plowed yet). Okay. What, to you, makes a good president? I don't have time to put all that down while at work today (I've been working 12 hour days for most of the last two weeks). Will try to get around to that later. I prefer to hear the reasons why people feel he is that great of a President first instead of tearing apart my reply to your question. If just over half of this country voted for him there should be a reason why (besides not being John Kerry). I am honestly curious about this. Interesting, with the way you defend him I would have guessed that you did. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Vinny, it's no big secret that I think he is a terrible President. To this day I feel his negatives far outway any good he has done. There hasn't been a republican that has put together an argument to make me think otherwise. My ears are open for someone that is willing to try. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

Do you feel the filabuster is a good or bad thing? From my basic understanding it seems to allow a balance by either side. I'm curious to hear the opinion on someone that knows the system better than I do. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Riiiight. And Bush will protect the environment, create jobs, be diplomatic, won't buy out the media, piss off the world when they were united in their support for us, he won't take rights away from the states, nor would he remove and abuse personal freedoms, etc, etc etc .....I see very little good this President has really done for the long term good of the people of the US. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Yes. You will die, does it really matter how or when it happens? What matters is how you lived the life, not how it ended. In this situation I would say no. Why? Because of responsibility. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

Are my tax $ paying for this horseshit?
ChasingBlueSky replied to akarunway's topic in Speakers Corner
Tonight's top news stories: The Administration says you had a good day but feel a little tired. In local news, police discovered a van parked outside a shopping mall believed to belong to a renegade media-lord. Inside the van police discovered close to 45lbs of unshredded immoral media trash thought to be valued at $65,000 on the street. Police also believe that the last known copy of the book "1984" has finally been found. The One God Police officials used a portable incinerator to dispose of the filth. I don't know what is worse - the fact that this administration is seeding the news or that the media is running these stories. They ran that story all over the news this AM. We fought down similar things in '01 and '02. Not sure how long we can keep fighting the paranoia this administration loves to spread. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Has anyone understood the movie "The Village"
ChasingBlueSky replied to Bouda's topic in The Bonfire
As are the people. His movies follow to strong of a pattern and have very common themes in all of them. And when everyone is expecting the "shocking twist" in the final reel.....doesn't that take a bit of the edge away? What would shock everyone in his next movie would be no twisted ending. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Surface to Air Missles in DC now
ChasingBlueSky replied to ChasingBlueSky's topic in Speakers Corner
If that is true, why put these out there? Just for the public appearance? _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again..... -
Surface to Air Missles in DC now
ChasingBlueSky replied to ChasingBlueSky's topic in Speakers Corner
Picture of SAM site on link. http://www.aopa.org/whatsnew/newsitems/2005/050308missile.html The government isn't talking, but the neighbors sure are. And it's all because of a recent — and very unusual — addition to the "front yard" of the Navy's Bethesda, Maryland-based test facility. Located in a very woodsy area of this posh D.C. suburb is a ground-to-air missile battery. Clearly visible to the passing cars on the Clara Barton Parkway is this six-silo launcher stationed on the grounds of the U.S. Naval Surface Warfare Center's Carderock facility, tucked in-between the famous Beltway and the Potomac River. It's inside the "No-Fly" zone — about 10 miles from the White House — and clearly is intended to protect the center of the nation's capital from anything that might penetrate that airspace. Lt. Cmdr. Ed Zeigler, public affairs officer for the Naval District of Washington, was recently quoted in the Washington Post as saying that the launcher is part of the North American Aerospace Defense Command's Operation Noble Eagle, a program designed to tighten national security since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. He says the six non-nuclear missiles in the launcher could "counter an inbound threat." It isn't known how many other permanent launchers are in the area. Since 9/11, portable missile launchers have occasionally been spotted around the D.C. area, especially when the terrorist threat levels are elevated. Pilots are warned to be extremely vigilant near the Baltimore-D.C.-Capital area and are urged to review the ADIZ procedures at www.aopa.org/adiz/. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Based on what? Bush and his administration while he was in Europe announced that he would take a more gentle approach to Iran. Here is something - replace all mention of Iran in that article with the USSR and you will see the same hardline attitude from the cold war. Iran saw that by taking a hard tough stance against this country the USSR avoided any attacks from us. This sounds like Iran is just setting itself up to be a superpower. They have the bark right now, the bite can't be far behind. And if you think otherwise can you explain how we could handle yet another front right now? _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Nice goals (and ahead of the curve). Good luck with that exam, it's a tough one from my understanding. Going to back it up with a CCNP or CCSP? You should go for security clearance as well. Make sure you document your hours as a team or project lead. You will need that to apply to take the PMP test. I agree, the grunt stuff is more entertaining but the pay increase should help you deal with that _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I just looked at the full size "in close" just before touchdown pic again (the bold clicky)....who ever took that pic did a fantastic job of framing that up! I love that shot. Careful with that - I had the lab supervisor in college ask me to do the same thing. When the Dean found out I was almost kicked out of school. Retired from IT at 34!? If you haven't done enough in IT to be doing pure theoretical and managerial duties by that age you should retire! Leave the grunt work for the kids and get your PMP, CISSP or CISA. Personally speaking I was an IT manager before I hit 30 _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

I was wondering the same thing. Do they scrub the deck or have a solvent to remove all the rubber from the tires where the wires are at? Looks like a decent amount of buildup there. Apparently Alaska is the solution to the oil crisis.
ChasingBlueSky replied to ChasingBlueSky's topic in Speakers Corner
Because Bush has friends that will make money from it. Plus he can claim he is doing something about the energy crisis and people will believe him. If it fails he then has something he can pin on the democrats (can't you just hear him now "they don't want to protect our economy and create jobs but I do"). _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I don't care that it is snowing again. It's winter in Chicago. It happens. NO! No rain on the parade! It's going to be cold enough marching in the parade on Saturday as it is! Look for me walking just behind the Mayor in the #3 spot/float again. Damn, wonder how I will keep warm? Hey eener, the great news is that it will be two solid weeks of cold before you leave for FL! The weather guy last night mentioned that FL will be seeing above average rain over the next month. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me....
