  1. See for me, given the choice of killing murderers that are found guilty beyond a shadow of a doubt, or killing unborn innocent children. I'll go with killing the bad guys. But as it turns out there is plenty of corruption and some of those on death row don't deserve to be there. You are ok with them getting the needle as well? _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  2. These are two of the major excuses gun control indivduals use for the 2nd. By using it towards the 8th you are only giving them credibility. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  3. Hey, don't forget over the last few years we have seen anything from 75F on March 3rd to a blizzard on March 9th. Expect bad weather at least up until St Patrick's Day, then it gets marginal, then finally good until the end of October when it starts to become marginal again. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 4. eh? I agreed with you as long as civil rights were not violated. Maybe you were thinking about another reply to your post? _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  5. Yes, it is about punishment and removing the luxury of a free life for your crimes. However, it needs to include rehab or you just introduce ex-cons back into the populace with almost no options other than more crime. I know some people that beat the system. They did their time and changed their lives. These people are stronger parts to the community than alot of other people I know. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 7. I can go to an abortion clinic in a blue state and show you the remains of several innocent people put to death. Seems to me the topic of "when does life start" is always up for debate. Both sides have good arguments. Guilty or not guilty is very easy to decide and only gets blurred when corruption occurs. Can't solve both issues at once. Might as well complete the one that is clearly black and white so you can better concentrate on the grey area. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 9. The reason they stopped the death penalty in IL was finding people on death row that were innocent. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  10. I wonder how many defenders of the 2nd Amendment feel it is ok to interpret this one however they want? It seems it would only strengthen your argument against gun control by fully supporting all of the Amendments as written. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 11. However there is a marketing fee they have to pay to have the word iPod somewhere on the packaging. I've played with the mini iPod and the 20gb version. I wasn't anymore impressed with it than I was with my older Rio or my new Dell DJ Jukebox. What I did like about it was the hack to install Linux on it and use it however you want - it was interesting navigating thru an OS with the iPod interface. I believe someone else already corrected you about having an Aux in on your car stereo. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 12. Yes for a few reasons. You can get the power you need to your video card without needing an extra 12v burst from a molex connector. Also, the architecture of it is better and in theory it will allow better graphics to happen....eventually. It will be probably close to two years to see games or programs that use PCIx to it's fullest potential. Games have to be backwards compatible for a while after new technology comes out and it won't be until the next big thing comes out that all that extra power is needed. Besides, there is a lifecycle to development that is always a generation or two behind technology. In IT hardware comes first, then the new software that uses it. Watch the Xbox and PS2 over the coming year - some of the best loooking games yet for those systems will finally hit the market just as the next consoles are getting ready to be released. Why? It took time to learn how to use the new technology, come up with an idea, design it, debug it and finally get it on the shelves. The same is true for PC games. I am not worried that I am still using an 8x AGP card. I should be able to get top graphic performance out of it for the next two years. I only just replaced my GeForce 4200ti within the last month and that was over two years old. However, there really are no wrong reasons to go with it now. The mobo's that come with it are affordable, the mid market cards are affordable and there is a larger selection of quality cards for PCIx than there are for AGP at the moment (ATI is having a hard time getting their x700 and x800 cards working on AGP due to heat and power issues). Also, if you have the money to waste, you can get an SLI mobo and two 6800GT's. The tests are starting to show a slight improvment in games using SLI. Yet, only the mightiest of geeks will think they need to run a game in SLI. If you are not using your system for gaming, there is no need for such a card or system bus. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 13. There is all this talk about those that were offended. How many people here were offended? How many people do you know were grief stricken over the Janet boob thing? I don't know one and I have asked around. People think its a big deal because a few popular, loud mouth talking heads made this into a big deal and the news carried it. Those in DC had to say something because it was an event that everyone in the public had heard about and it was their way to gain political ground with it. (After all, we should teach our children to be horrified by the human body). In the end this is all about political gains and helping someone get re elected because it looks like they are doing something. The public has a terrible memory and come election time the pundits bang their fist and claim they are for morals and not showing boobs in prime time....people then go "oh, ah" nod their head and think "I can't be against morals, only evil people are against morals." Thus they make their votes off of talking points and spin that in reality should insult their intelligence. They are victims of the system. TV doesn't set the moral temperature of this country. You do. The media just gives back to you what you demanded and asked for. Maybe people are just scared to look in the mirror. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  14. How many of those accessories do you use? After doing some research for my own MP3 player I have found plenty of 3rd party accesories that I can use for it, and I don't have to pay extra for them because they have "Apple or iPod" on the label. Where the iPod is defeated is felxabilty and the strict rules that go along with it. I'd rather store my music how I want, use whatever music download site and software program that I choose. Having an FM tuner built in is a great option for when I am on the train and want to listen to the morning news without having to carry around a 2nd device just to do that. Also, it helps at the gym so I can tune into the TV audio they broadcast on FM while riding the bike. I like the fact that you can record from any source right to MP3 which gives you an easy way to convert your vinyl, cassettes, or whatever into digital format. FYI, you can get a 40g version of that player as well for just a couple dollars more. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 15. You have great eyes. I watched that game on a 62" HD TV with Tivo and we couldn't see it. It wasn't until the next day when someone emailed me the blown up pic could I tell what was shown. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 17. Apple is in the middle of a lawsuit with Real because they found a way to put songs from their music store on an iPod...that didn't make Apple happy. Their policy is too constrictive. I place a 2nd vote on the iRiver line. The Creative players get good reviews as well. What is your price range Shannon? _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  18. The problem is - what if he is innocent? His life is ruined if he is. The gov't will be able to bury anything they obtained on him due to National Security reasons. True, he wasn't the top of the heap as a gang member, but he still has his rights. If he was let free do you think anyone would hire him? If he is guilty and they have the proof - charge him, convict him and let him serve time for the crime. Otherwise we are just as guilty of the civil right violations we complained about with China, the British in N Ireland, etc. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 19. I realize that prison life is no walk in the park, but perhaps if hard time were really hard time, it would be a deterent... If a life sentance looked like: sufficient food, water, shelter, and big rocks into little rocks (or something along those lines) until they drop... no extraordinary medical care (i.e. you don't get to go to the top rated cancer hospital in the world for free), no TV, no books, no smokes, etc... 3 hots (or colds) and a cot, and hard labor... J For lifers I am all for that as long as their civil rights are still in tact. For others you would need to keep them seperated so you could work on rehab and trying to find a way to integrate them back into society. This would keep them away from the "I have nothing to lose" attitude the lifers have. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 20. From my understanding he is being held like this under the Patriot Act. Guess this is the first real challenge from the courts on it. I have to agree with the judge, this is un-American to deny civil rights. U.S. ordered to charge Chicago terror suspect or free him WASHINGTON -- A federal judge ordered the Bush administration Monday to either charge Chicago terror suspect Jose Padilla with a crime or release him after more than two years in custody. U.S. District Judge Henry Floyd in Spartanburg, S.C., said the government cannot hold Padilla indefinitely as an ''enemy combatant,'' a designation President Bush gave him in 2002. The government contends Padilla -- a former Chicago gang-banger -- was planning an attack with a ''dirty bomb'' radiological device. ''The court finds that the president has no power, neither express nor implied, neither constitutional nor statutory, to hold petitioner as an enemy combatant,'' Floyd wrote in a stern rebuke. Floyd was appointed by Bush in 2003. ''We think that this is a wonderful decision,'' said Padilla's attorney, Andy Patel. ''It is one of those moments that all Americans should be proud of.'' A Justice Department spokesman said the government will appeal. Michael Ratner, president of the Center for Constitutional Rights, called Floyd's order a significant blow to the administration. Padilla was arrested at O'Hare Airport in 2002 after returning from Pakistan. The federal government has said he received weapons and explosives training from members of al-Qaida. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 21. Huh? Are you saying that once murderers saw that they couldn't be executed, that they no longer wanted to kill anyone any more? I'd like to see your logical explanation for that... "Well shucks, Damien, without that death penalty, murder just ain't no darn fun anymore. I'm a-givin' it up." I've had a chance to talk to some death row inmates. One of them just wanted to die, his lawyer and family was the one pushing the appeal process. I guess life in prison is that bad and he would have rather been dead then spend more time there. Maybe the thought that you would have to spend the rest of you life doing hard time could be a deterent? Then again, the other guy I talked to wanted to live no matter what, even if it meant to be in jail for 50 years. Who knows. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  22. The pizza place in my area does that - when you call in they already know your address and name. Just one of those small little pizza places in Chicago. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  23. My PICTURE!! Life is short, but print media lives on!!! No, I understand your point. That really is the 'big picture', isn't it? I'm sure you were joking, but not really. I've had my 15 minutes a couple times over: My picture on the front page in the majority of the Chicago newspapers, talk radio persona, rubbing elbows with big names, groupies, radio dj, news reporter, etc. It all fades quick and no one remembers or cares afterwards. I choose to push my public image over my health and it was a mistake in the long run that I regret to this day. I did damage to my vocal cords and stomach during those years which flares up from time to time and interupts my life now. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 24. Wingi do you mean that because in the past her lung had collapsed she could never sky-jump?? Or she couldn't do it during that period of time? Crimany I wouldn't want to risk never ever jumping again. That would suck. I don't think you realize the extent of damage it can do to your lungs if it gets out of control. It's not something to play with. There were a few times that the dr's were concerned my lungs would collapse...which led to about two weeks of bed rest each time. You have to take it easy when you have pneumonia, your body just can't handle a normal load while that sick, even in a mild case. Trust me on this, or just ask a Dr (the better option) _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  25. You could say I have a decent amount of experience with pneumonia since I have had it a total of 13 times. Last time I said "its only a small mild case" I ended up on my back in the hospital for a week. When I have pneumonia the cold air makes it worse and tends to cause the lungs to flare up more. I have passed out twice in my life due to this - and that was just while traveling to the doctors office for a chest xray. Walking pneumonia is very dangerous, and kills. Why? Because you seem fine for the most part and go on with your life at normal activity levels. It's not something to play with and you body is usually in a serious fight for energy and oxygen due to the fluid and congestion in your lungs. Why do you need to rush into the air? The plane, pictures and dropzone will be there next weekend. Being on meds and having lack of oxygen seems like a bad chain. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me....
