There happens to be a freefalling whale in the movie. That sequence had the entire theater laughing. btw - I think that Zooey that plays Trillian does a great job. Was able to attend the sneak preview last night. Already I'm biased to like it since I got to see it free at a really nice theatre! I didn't expect much overall, and I don't have much to compare it too since I never finished the book (and know most of the story from the video game). I was the only one in my group that didn't know the story inside and out, and found I was defending the movie once it was done. I knew that Adams had been working on the script for years and he felt that it could change for the movie and pretty much had it done just before he died. (btw - keep an eye out for his image in the movie a few times) I'm sure there were some changes to what he did, but for the most part it was his story and idea up on the screen. My friends had issues with some major changes to the story, and the way certain characters were handled and some events surrounding them in the story. From a neophyte fan's perspective - I liked it. The Jim Henson group did a great job on the Volgons, the improbable drive made me laugh each time it was used, seeing deep thought was great, the special effects were top notch and the factory floor scene will have you scanning the screen to take it all in. Sure, there were a few things that didn't work, but it's a comedy and that will happen. The one part that didn't really work for me was surrounding the John Malkovich character....and from my understanding it was created just for this movie. It seemed forced and wasn't funny, and in the end it was quite pointless. (maybe setting things up for the 2nd movie?) Bottom line - if you are a fan of the book - don't go in expecting to see the book on screen (isn't that said about every adaptation). There have been quite a few changes made. We usually have a boogie Memorial Day weekend to remember all friends lost, and try to do something posivite that weekend by raising money for Make A Wish. However, the best way to really honor them is to learn from their deaths. Got mine done at Jade Dragon - not bad work, and don't bother trying to get on the Fat Joe list....you will never get your done anytime soon. I think Jade used to be better than it is now - not too many of the artists have stuck around ...and I've seen an artist there that only had one tat....not a good thing. The guy I picked was covered over most of his body and he did all the work he could reach on his own. If you go to Jade you will pay more because of the name. Mine was about three and a half hours of work and it cost about $425. I haven't seen any bad work from Jade, but I have seen stuff that could have been better. Must have been a weekend for trying to burn down the house. After a trip to the Sox game and the casino, we decided to BBQ! Well, the grill couldn't be used since a moma robin decided to nest there. We prepped the steaks and put them in the oven....next thing we know the alarms are going off, the ADT is going off, the dog is running laps around the house and my friend's wife is calling to find out what the hell happend. Apparently someone didn't tell my friend you don't put the steaks on the top rack when using the broil setting. Isee you would rather just give up... If even one bomb is on the way, you have already lost. Everyone loses. What would killing millions of innocent civilians in retaliation of an act put in motion by a handful of people prove? Show the immature and childish behavior of those in power? The world as we know it will come to a hault the next time a nuke is used - no matter who uses it. The world economy will collapse with the loss of one of the major powers/suppliers in the world. This is great comedy!! First off, spend some time with people that work in the industry. You know what? Most of them are friends and this little competitive thing you have going on is funny. This is a small little corner of the sports world. The competition for business in it isn't as dramatic as you make it out to be. Most of them have worked together at one point, been on teams together, or been on world records together. Go to any of the major boogies and you will see them spending time in each other's vendor shops, drinking beers afterhours or even jumping the competition's gear. What's hypocritical? Only the high performance market? Last I checked they have the top Crew canopy around. They have the Sabre2 and the Spectre for midrange. Where do you come up with this stuff? I bet you would be complaining if PD rushed the Katana 135/150 to market and there were issues with it. If PD or any company wants to say it's not ready to be jumped yet, who are we to argue with them? They are making sure they have a high quality, safe product on the market.
