  1. Bravo. There are some here in Austin as well. You know what, the assholes are everywhere and will do their best to f*ck with your happiness. This is why I will just live my life doing what makes me happy until the next one comes along to try to screw with that as well. It doesn't make sense to get upset or worry about it - because they are there, and they will find a way to mess with your life.....or in this case, your death. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 2. It was the hope that someone in this administration would learn from this. Get off their high horse of religious morality and get back to running a government. It wasn't a slam, it was disgust and exhaustion from watching ignorance in politics one too many times. There was a thread that went on in depth about this topic already - many of my thoughts about it were already there. Do a search and find them. The fact that the Repubs and Bush got involved in this is a HUGE deal. It shows where this country is at. It shows how the focus is on the wrong things, it shows that people will grandstand on one issue to influence a sweeping policy/morality change in this country (and the sheep will follow), It shows how states and individuals are slowly losing their personal freedoms and big gov't is only getting bigger, It shows what little respect this administration shows for marriage. It is a great example of how many things are wrong/broken and completely hopeless of getting fixed. Do I feel the Dems would do any better? No. Why not? Because they would play up the popularity and use spin to help their own cause as well. It's a sad thing, but that is where politics are at in this country. It also shows how hopeless the media is. This story makes the front page for weeks on end yet genocide is buried somewhere deep in the back. The real issues are being overlooked by the Dem's, Repubs and the media. ALL are at fault for this. After all that, what really was the topic for Schiavo? Which talking head do you want to listen to? The parents threw up a different issue every other week. There never was a true focus on any real issue. This woman's life became a soap box for anyone that had an issue and used it to get face time. Sadness and disgust are the only things I feel when I think about that. After watching how the Repubs and Dems have handled themselves over the last ten years I am of the opinion that its hopeless to make any real change in DC. I will live my life and enjoy what remaining freedoms I have until it makes them uncomfortable and they take them away. As far as a response - most threads/topics in this forum are useless. They are the same thing, time after time. The same people saying the same thing. Oh look...._________made another gun post, _________ did another post about gay-marriage, _________did another post on how evil Bush is, oh look ____________ made another personal attack, ______ got banned again, etc. This is why I don't bother posting more than once or twice a month in this forum anymore. It's pointless and useless. I've come to realize that it's the idiots and assholes that will always make their way to the top and get what they want. They are the only ones that don't care what it takes to win and get what they want. They are the ones that will sh*t on anyone just to help themselves and don't care what damage they leave in their wake. I've seen in all aspects of our society (interpersonal relationships/workplace/DZ/bars/gov't, etc) and the biggest assholes are the power hungry ones in DC. All of them. What about helping out friends, family, your fellow countryman without profiting from it? I just don't see it anymore, and I am tired of fighting with these assholes on a daily basis. I just don't care anymore. Hell, I should just delete this post....I'm sure someone will nit-pick it apart, tell me how wrong I am, flame me, and just miss the point. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 3. Maybe this Administration will learn from this? Maybe allow some decisions to still be made by the individual instead of policy (esp policy driven by conservative religions)?? nah...old dog.... _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 4. haha...you already know that since I did a reference check on him and you were one of them! Nice guy, great resume, I just can't place him with my client due to one little detail that management demands. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 6. I don't really want to get into this discussion, but I have seen pictures off of a 2.1 megapixel camera that will blow you away when it comes to image quality. I did not believe they were taken with a 2.1 camera until I saw the EXIF information of the picture. It has everything to do with the internals of the camera and how the pictures are taken, but a 6 megapixel camera for vacation pictures that are not going to be printed ANY larger than 5x7 (maybe the occasional 8x10) is absolutely overkill. Right now I have a backup 2.1 megapixel camera (Digital Elph) that's about 4 years old.. the quality of those pictures is significantly less, I agree. But if you buy a 3.2 or 4 megapixel camera today, you will not be disappointed. For instance - these were all taken with a Kodak 3.1mp camera: http://www.kodakgallery.com/Slideshow.jsp?Uc=mz350k5.81a5a0gp&Uy=s0s430&Upost_signin=Slideshow.jsp%3Fmode%3Dfromshare&Ux=0&mode=fromshare&conn_speed=1 _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 8. Uh, thanks for that confidence-builder... Nah, I know you can do it - your knowledge and comprehension skills are impressive. Besides, I doubt your prof is a repressed Jesuit with a messed up vision of the world. I always did the best with my foreign born phil profs. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  9. hah...I was thinking the same thing. Guess those four years of theo and phil were not a waste! Hope your paper goes well, the last one I had to do like that the prof failed everyone in the class. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 10. Exactly! That's a great pic of exactly what I was talking about. Could you launch a piece like that and release on the hill to fly a two way like that (both pilots in a wingsuit)? _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 11. Fact: No matter how nice the weather is to one person you can always find someone else to bitch about it. It can get very hot and humid here in Chicago - enough to where I've seen it match up with weather I've experienced in Florida and Texas (it just doesn't last as long). I remember cooking an egg on the hood of a car in high school when it hit 115F or so here. Then there is the flip side where it can hit -40F with 29"inches of snow. The winds in either season can hit up to 70mph sustained and up to 100mph bursts...don't forget the tornados! It can't suck too bad here since I've seen a few people knock off over 1000 jumps in our season. Personally speaking - I hate both ends of the extreme weather we see here. With the global weather changing we are seeing less of the moderate weather and more of the extreme ends every year. The last few years we have had very short spring/fall weather. But you know what? You deal with it or move - otherwise you are bitching about it 24/7 (and certain southern states seem to do it more than others). I'm a spring/summer kinda guy so I love the weather we have now....I can't stand winter and would be happy to never see another day of snow. However, that isn't going to happen since I am not leaving Chicago. So this past winter I needed a break from cold so I went down to Dallas for a bit to warm up. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 12. Yup, gotta love this city. Hot? Turn on the AC or go down to the lake. It's beautiful outside today and went for a 30 min walk on my lunch break! I love the fresh air and being able to keep my windows open all the time - plus I get to fall asleep to to the sound of airplanes landing/taking off. How damn cool is that? I only turn on the AC in the morning when I am getting ready for work.....for now. My new roommate is big on keeping the place at 63F year round. It was great to go up north to WI this weekend and to spend so much time in the sun having fun. You just can't beat the heat! Winter in this city sucks...a good portion of the city closes up and there isn't as much to do...plus the winter lasts too damn long. Nothing better than walking around in a large city that is alive again because it's warm. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 13. So much for that crappy midwest weather....spent all weekend at the cabin up north getting some sun, playing on the boat, fishing, some yard work (planted three trees), drinking, took some cool nature shots, etc......what a great weekend _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 14. Figured this was somewhat relevant: http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/pcworld/121266 Should help you MAC people understand what the X86 world is doing. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 15. Do you have benchamarks you need to meet? Do you help with scope creep? Do you have a success rate for brining projects in on time/budget? Are you client facing? If so, what success stories can you tell me there? Conflict resolution, deliving a tough message, etc,. If you make your PM look good, then there are things to brag about - it means you are doing your job and doing it well. Has your work saved your client money? What was the effect of the project being completed on time? Client success from a good project is something you can brag about as well - it is because of your work they were able to reach those achievements. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 16. If you want I can give you a call to give you some pointers. btw - one quick thing to think about. The resume should show me why I should hire you. Your responsibilities are nice to know, but it doesn't tell me what you did and what benefit that company saw from paying you. What did you achieve? How much money did you make/save? How did you handle problems unique to your position? What else can you tell me about what you did? What are you most proud of? What was your top accomplishment? Why should I look at your resume? What is it about yours that makes you better than the rest? Previous success = future success. Rank your skills on a scale of 1-10. Take the ones you rank 7/8 or above and focus on those strengths. Be ready to speak in depth about them. I don't care about the stuff you 'kinda' know. I'm not hiring you for those skills. I get so much resume spam that I spend seconds on most resumes. If I have to guess what you do, or why you sent me your resume I don't even bother. I'm looking for top notch talent, and top notch talent are not vague and do not have generic resumes. Make sure you are specific in what you are looking for. Make sure you have multiple versions of you resume that are customized for each postion you apply for. I've looked at over 300 resumes this week so I might know what I am talking about. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 17. Now that is comedy. Good show! What comedy club will you be performing at this weekend? _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  18. I guess I asked my question wrong. I know the RSL would not have helped with the pull force needed due to the riser twist. However, I was wondering how the RSL would have effected the situation after the chop. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 19. Then you won't see me purchasing a new Intel Mac. In fact, I don't buy any systems outside of laptops. Why? The components they use are often scaled down, sub-par versions of the real product. Also, they cut corners to integrate parts and remove modular abilities. I can spend just as much to build my own and come out with a better and more powerful machine that will be easy to upgrade down the line. At the moment it would only cost me about $250 to upgrade to a AMD64 system from my current AMD XP3200+ system. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 20. Chuck, what do you think a RSL would have done in that nasty spinning mal you had while in your BM suit (I think it was at Eloy Holiday Boogie)? _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  21. Why is it that wingsuit flying is the one thing in the sport that still gets me going like a first jump student?? I look at these pics of the Atmonauti and the upside down rodeo and think how damn cool it would be to try that!! Once I can get back to jumping full time as a weekend warrior I will be focusing on wingsuit flight. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 22. Kris is right - the entire PC/x86 world is moving to 64bit (thanks to AMD). Intel originally figured they had close to 6-10 years before the home market was switched over and they focused on high-end 64bit server hardware that wasn't fully compatible with 32bit x86 (and has since failed). AMD took a different approach to their CPUs and were able to come up with scalable, cool running and backwards compatable 64bit chips (they run 32bit apps faster and have almost no compatability issues) for the workstations. Intel is finally catching up to the way AMD has been doing things and will try to flood the market with their new dual-core setup. I agree with Kris that AMDs version is better but I feel that Intel will have a greater influence on the market with their product. Even if the MAC Intel chips are not 64bit, I know myself and a few others will try to get them to run on AMD64. Apple would be making a mistake not to run their Intel chips at 64bit. How can they compete against another OS that will run faster and run programs faster? It is a good move to make the switch, the G5 just couldn't compete anymore with x86 CPUs. I'm a bit worried about Apple's move away from PowerPC simply because it will remove competition from the retail market. The PowerPC has forced AMD and Intel to be innovative to match their performance with a full instruction set. I still feel the RISC chipsets are useful outside of use in the XBOX 360 and PS3. It should be interesting to see how IBM proceeds next. When all is said and done, I may have to build myself a dual boot OS machine next year! _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 23. Why is everyone responding to this guy? It's already been shown that the USPA license number he used to have listed was not his - that misrepresentation removes any credibility related to this sport. His posts, topics and targets are also very similar in nature to a former forum member that was banned. Has anyone checked to see if the IP addy's match up? btw - if you do a google search of that person you will find he has done similar arguments/attacks on other web forums. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 25. Then you are a smart woman, and a rare one. I've seen it too many times where the guy comes back after leaving her just to sleep around and the girl takes him back. What seems to happen is the guy sees she has moved on and then he wants her back and he will go out of his way to destroy the new relationship. Too much drama for me, this is why it's better to be single and alone. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me....
