  1. Most Wireless security protocols can be hacked by someone that knows what they are doing. On top of that, WiFi is very easy to track down and find a rough area where the access point is. Don't do anything over a wireless connection you don't want anyone to see (credit cards, etc). The majority of the security needs to be done by the access point administrator. They should turn off the SSID broadcast (however, a free program called NetStumbler will find it), turn on MAC filtering (this only allows network cards with a specific hardwired ID access to the network..but there are programs that spoof MACs), and turn on 128bit encryption (or higher) know as WEP, WPA or whatever the military is using. This will require a passkey setting on both the client and the access point that will generate a rotating password that encrypts data sent from the NIC to the AP (the amount of time before rotation of the password is set on the AP and when it happens it usually causes a short drop in network connectivity). However, a good bit of research on the net can show a qualified individual how to get around WEP and WPA. FYI - there are instructions on the net on how to create a directional antenna for WiFi that helps boost your signal while wardriving (looking for free/open AP). The side effect of that is you can easily locate down to a small area where the AP is broadcasting from. I've never used anything like OpenVPN or IPSEC with wireless, so I am not sure if they make it any more secure or even usable to search the internet while using them. If you want to be secure, use a wired connection or stay off line in an area where you don't want to be found. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 2. Doh! You should have contacted me first! I have a contact at Amazon...but I can't do anything now that you already contacted them. FYI - someone on this board has an interview with Google next week because of my networking.....it won't help me out with my job, but I was able to use my network to help the guy out....take this to PMs if you have any questions. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 3. Some states allow reporting via phone/email. Check to see if you can do it. I once filled an unemployment report from the WFFC. Send me a PM about where you want to work, what indusitry and your specialty. Let me see what I can do for you. I'm already helping a few people on this board get a new job. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 4. Still enjoy the rides, still go a couple times a year. If you rule things out as fun because they are not as "extreme" as skydiving then you are missing out on the bigger picture. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 5. I was torn between the 650 and the new g model of the blackberry for Cingular. A couple things went again the blackberry for me - it doesn't use EDGE (thus slower data speeds) and because of the constant data push, Cingular charges more for it. I used to have an old half sized blackberry rim and like it. It was decent for what was out at the time. I had a chance to play with the new one and liked it alot, but treo was a better option in the long run for me. The only downside to the Treo was the lack of the always on - but then I don't need to be that connected (or someone can just call) _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 6. Main use will be for work. I'm tired of having to bring home so much junk every night, often my laptop (they only allow VPN from approved devices with strict software guidelines). I can transfer most of what I need via outlook and be good to work from home. Will be searching for a bunch of professional apps to put on it. I like the modem idea. This is my first venture into bluetooth so I am curious to learn more about it for networking and modem use. SO far I am not impressed with the quality of sound from my Motorolla HS820 headset. It sounds like a speakerphone on the other end. Is there a SDIO Wifi card that will work with this? I purchased it thinking I would trest drive it for 30 days. I'm keeping it now - love it even if I am only a slight bit into the manual. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 7. You may want to ask this in the CRW forum - those guys have done just about everything while deploying on the hill. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  8. I just picked one up to help me keep my job and life organized. Should help prevent me from having to bring my work laptop home every night. Any good advice? And good apps? _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  9. So who is still playing? I should finally hit lvl 60 next weekend. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  10. Jerry, I know all about that stuff - if you take a look you will see I am the one that started this thread. We are in aggrement about them. However, do not step down to link fraud (multiple clicks on a sponsored link to effect a great cost on the sponsor) to battle them. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  11. Link Fraud is something Google is currently researching legal recourse over. Do not do this. This is unethical and I would put it on the same level as the issues we have with Skyride. Be the better person. You can do a search for your home dz with very specific keywords and click on their link once a day. This will help them rise in their rankings - it is legal and Google is ok with this. I had a chance to find out more from a SEO (search engine optimization) company this year. PM me if you have questions about it. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  12. haha - if I had the time I would have taken them, sold them for one hell of a markup (these were for the bday show) and purchased some at a cheaper price a bit further away . Just don't have the time to do all that! I figured I could have made about $300 in profit on those tickets. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 13. You just have too much going on and someone offers you tickets to a great sold out concert at cost? I've had to turn down 6 different pairs of tix to see U2 this week. One pair was amazing how close to the stage it was......bah! _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 14. ding ding! Oh yea - forgot about this one. Wen shopping at WalMart and people were bringing their pets in to shop with them. Those pets happened to be pigs. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  15. btw a tornado hit downtown Ft. Worth only a couple years ago. Did some decent damage to one of the new high rise buildings. Don't tell the people in FW they live in Dallas - it upsets them. I was surprised at how clean FW was. Not sure why, just was. Good night life if you don't mind dodging people that don't know how to drive a truck - and everyone drives trucks. Everyone. A lot of the younger kids that can't drink seem to drive them around the city at night. Also found it very odd how you can be a block off the main area and have it be dead quiet with no one around. The city center is small enough that you can park and walk everywhere and bar/club hop....hope you like country music because I found it hard to find a place the played real music. Outside of FW is either miles of nothing or miles of suburban cities. Best BBQ I have ever had was in FW. I wouldn't live there. Coming from Chicago I was bored after three days. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  16. I'm with you. Don't go back. There are plenty of options in the real world. However, if you are used to the subculture of the military then go back to it. However, realize that most of corp America won't consider your time in the military to be professional experience relevant to helping their bottom line. There are a bunch of companies created, run and owned by former military people - or gov't jobs - that tend to cater to those that don't have direct marketable corp skillsets. In other words - why would most people hire a professional grunt? I see over a 1000 resumes a week and spend nearly 30 seconds on most of them, if that. If I see nothing but military experience, I know I won't be able to market them to my client. Now, I do know some officers that have that have landed some top notch 6-figure jobs in civilian life because of their very specific rolls in the military. So if you go back, make sure people have to salute you and you get on a very specific managment style job. Spend about $50 and get a career coach. Look for one that gets great reviews. These are worth the money. It could save you years of lost time. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 17. Smoking section in bars, even with the filtration systems is a joke - esp to those that have bad reactions to smoke. For example - grew up in a house with a smoker and had serious lung issues 4-5 times a year, including infections. Once I moved out and lived in a smoke free environment I'm down to 1 a year related to the typical flu. Am I to be denied enjoying a night out on the town while indoors due to someone's addiction? Smoke outside, in your house, your car, whatever.....I don't care what you do. Restaurant, bar, theatre, plane, etc....hell no...unless you want to pay for my medical bills and time I miss at work. What about my right to breath in a healthy environment? Lack of smoking won't kill you - but your smoke could kill me. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 19. Trying to decide if I am going to skip this tradition for Ep3. I have to be at training with the National VP at 9am the next day. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  20. While reading the Friday Weekend section, I noticed they have a part called "The Dropzone." If you do a google search of "suntimes dropzone" you will find it. It is a tour of area neighborhoods. When I arrived on page 47 today I thought that Sangiro had taken out an ad! It looks like the same font, it is all in lower case, the ".com" is missing and instead of a box around it they use [dropzone] instead. Has anyone else seen this? I'm without a scanner these days or I would post it here. Maybe someone else in town can do it? _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

  22. OTB is very near the office. Thinking of tossing down $20 or $30 on the race. Possible Trifecta box....who knows...I'll see how I feel when I walk past it. I don't gamble anymore but there has been too much talk about it this year......Anyone else betting? I don't follow horses anymore, so I am going off the hype and what the handicappers are saying. Possible Superfecta to bet: Bellamy Road Noble Causeway Afleet Alex High Fly (thinking of making a seperate bet on that one just because of the name). _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me....
