Answer: A 4lb electrocuted chicken fired at 600 mph
ChasingBlueSky replied to mr2mk1g's topic in The Bonfire
Chris, Next time you get to talk to James - ask him about the frozen chickens that GE used. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again..... -
Who would choose skydiving as a career?
ChasingBlueSky replied to SpeedDog's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
You could always go to New Zeland and get your degree in skydiving! If there is a degree, there must be a demand, right???? _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again..... -
I can understand trying to CYA in lawsuit happy CA, but what about those jumpers that just don't keep a log book and have a D license? Do I need to create a fake log book just to jump there? Waiver, video, gear check don't seem like a big deal to me....status quo in my opinion. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... The manifest computer tells them when a person jumped last at Perris, when the person's reserve repack is due and when the person's USPA membership expires. As long as your last jump there was within the currency requirements for your license, your reserve is still in date, your USPA membership hasn't expired and you have at least one jump worth of money on your account.... you're good to go. Doesn't matter if you're a local or visiting. I was a Perris local. I hadn't jumped there in about 8 months once. I had to show them my logbook to prove that I'd jumped within the 6 month D license currency requirement. I don't keep a log book, how would I be able to jump there then? _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... You think that no one would have a helmet like that - but I've seen one. There is a town here in IL (Park Ridge) that had a kid get struck on a baseball field - the conditions were pretty safe (they had cleared the field for a brief time earlier in the game due to rain). The kid (actually the coach) didn't make it. Now that baseball field has a new lightning detection device installed - one year later on the aniversary of the strike, during the ceremony to unveil the devices, they sounded an alarm with no storm on the horizon. They cleared the fields and the scoreboard was struck by lightning. I have been in freefall, in clear blue sky, at several DZ's and seen cloud-to-cloud strikes. Those clouds never passed into our airspace, but just beyond, and the winds were very calm. I never had the fear of getting hit while in the air, but rather once I touch the ground in a wide open field with my canopy over head. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Exactly! If the brakes on your car failed, would you blame the tires? The PC is there to pull the pin and extract the bag and begin the deployment. A canopy that is designed correctly will be able to handle the relative wind at typical deployment speeds with the PC the rig manufacture recommends. If it can't, then take Ron's lead and get rid of that canopy. From the way it sounds, AtAir has spent more time figuring how a PC can effect the opening sequence and not given any consideration to how much pull force will be required to get the pin out in all situations (sub terminal, terminal, bulky pack jobs, etc). You won't have to worry about that hard opening or sweetly staged opening because the pin will probably never leave the loop. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... How did the runway hold up? Very cool - should be interesting to see when they get it airborn for jumpers! _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

The BoSox are in the process of purchasing the WS title now....you may see that Cub/BoSox matchup this coming fall.... _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

Actually, he cost them the possibility of one out, just like the shortstop that bobbled a grounder. Then of course, there are the other 3 losses that he had nothing to do with. Cub fans always need to blame their bad luck on a goat, and this time around its a scapegoat. I just love to torture the Cub fans. It's better than pissing the conservatives off. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

I give up trying to bring you to reason. Has Bucky taught you nothing? Warm is good. Cold is bad. Oh, sorry, didn't know you were doing the logical thing....ok, I'll play now _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Just because you have done it, it doesn't mean that it is a good idea. However, being in the Great White North, by itself, shows poor judgement. 49F, no wind and sunny is quite nice for shorts and tshirt. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Hard to choose between the "Operation Mindcrime/Building Empire" tour by Queensryche or Pearl Jam at Soldier Field in 93 where I was up against the stage for the 3 hour concert. The QR concert was the best immersive concert, and I have never seen a better light show and integration of video. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me....
