  1. Okay, let's rephrase that, are YOU single Missy? Umm.....er......nervous......um.....how....are.....you....today...?
  2. I was starting to think Photoshop - played it for about 15 min and couldn't top 320s no matter what I tried. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  3. The attempt is this week? Is that part at least right? I don't remember any press or website info like the last Thailand US Team attempt. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  4. Can I say again how happy I was to hear all those people clap when he said "the patriot act will expire soon" _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  5. In reality, Bush's statements on gay marriage were focused on the ignorant and arrogant liberal judges in some states who have acted in direct opposition to the will of the people. Then they currently don't act on the will of all the people....there are plenty that feel that same sex partners isn't an issue. This is Good Ol Boy mentality in action here....at least we know he will get the KKK vote with that little item _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 6. Hey - but he mentioned that huge danger to our world - baseball players taking steroids. Now, that is a platform that should turn our economy around. Then of course there was his very subtle way of saying that gay couples do not deserve the right to be married. I'm glad he allows his religious beliefs to effect the lives of those in the country that don't follow his beliefs.....ignorant and arrogant. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 7. not if my vote has anything to do with it.....Kerry are Edwards are looking like great choices. Clark now worries me, Dean is off his rocker, and Liberman....well, the guy scares me as much as GWB. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 8. did GWB go to the James T Kirk school of public speaking? My issue? All war/terroism talk again....domestic issues were discussed quickly, and he went back to the war again at the end. I was impressed with the way he dealt with his critics and said Meidcal Coverage needs not to be in the hands of the government, more impressed at those that had the courage to speak against the Patriot Act with their applause, but just felt it was more of the same with Bush.....lots of Rhetoric about domestic policy but I doubt he will do anything to follow it up. No Child Behind? From my understanding that program has taken cuts by Bush's own hand. Economy going up? Maybe on Wall Street - but I deal with the middle and lower class every day on the phone (at least 100 people a day, 5-6 days a week) and things are not getting better for them, and most are still unemployed. His "it's our way or the highway" mentality in Iraq and all foreign policy is building a world of hate and IMHO putting us in more danger of attacks in this country and abroad. Follow what America says, or we will isolate you just for standing against us, and stand aside as we attack other countries? Won't that put us into the same category as those in the axis of evil - attacking nations and placing their citizens into a state of fear. At this pace, the world will place sanctions against us until we get rid of our munitions. Funny that he has such a policy - after all, this was the candidate back in Nov of 99 that didn't know the world leaders when quized. Go Figure. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  9. Exactly. Don't forget this - these guys are standing for hours on end in a customer service intensive environment. I've flown to Florida a lot in the last 6 months and have stood in line listening to some very ignorant people that verbally attack the TSA agents when it is their time to be scanned. Think of what this would do to your mood after 5 or 6 hours, now add in the idea of "Level Orange"....I think you get the point. My Dad has worked for one of the major airlines for over 40 years - I have heard some incredible stories over the years....the two positions he had that dealt with customers were his most stressful (working the boarding desk and Customer Service Representative - the guy that deals with the upset customers and high profile cusomters). There are very few people that treat those workers with respect, esp if their poor planning has them running late or weather has made them miss a flight. Therefore, most of these people have no patience and won't listen to stories and excuses. Now here you are with something that they believe is suspect - do you think being stern with them is going to win them over? _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 10. It really isn't the airline anymore - it used to be before 9/11 (everyone remember the issues with Southwest and the Cypres batteries?) These days, it is the TSA that is the huge hurdle, and there isn't anything we can do about it. The training the agents get is uniform, however, most are not aware of the minor daily changes the TSA makes. The level of communication is poorly lacking. On top of that, higher threat airports have more of a "zero tolerance" attitude than others.... _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 11. If you could get more details such as: Airports, what she was wearing, how she answered their questions, etc. HeatherB takes Southwest to see me all the time and she has yet to have an issue in Tampa or Midway. I take ATA to see her and have had several issues - but all related to the TSA, not the airline (in fact, ATA flight attendants have been more helpful with the rig than the Soutwest FA's ever were). I've yet to have an issue with ATA in flight or landing, but they certainly are not the most beautiful landings I have ever had in a jet. There is no pattern to the issues that I have had - it doesn't matter what I wear (been in shorts/sandals and other times in shirt/tie). The best approach is to give the TSA agent more respect than they deserve. Oh yea, I automatically put my belt, shoes, pennies, sunglasses, etc on the belt to be scanned - I don't even wait for them to ask. You don't want to get pulled aside for additional scanning when your rig is being scanned. At Midway they scanned it a ton of times trying to figure out what it was, and each time I was flagged for the additional security check (wand, shoes, etc). This caused an issue because no one was there to claim the gear bag when they asked who's it was. They were not done with the wand on me, so I asked the TSA agent to escort me over there so I could answer their questions. By that time they had a manager over there and he let it pass. (Funny side story - Heather came up without her rig this weekend, and on the way out at Midway last night, the TSA agent recognized her Wings backpack as a mock up parachute) Every time I have tried to get on a plane in St Pete's I have had issues. I was told twice that I couldn't take it on the plane, and each time I very calmly asked them why when the TSA agent in Chicago let me bring it on the flight down. They usually pull me to the side, do the explosives swab test, and still tell me I can't take it on. I handed them a folder of all the documents needed, with the important parts highlighted. Each time the "canister" issues was raised and I told them there are no canisters in any sport rig and asked if they could include a manager in our discussion. It seems the manager in St Pete is former Airborne and he started doing a VERY rough gear check on my rig and reserve...I calmly asked him to be careful with the FAA rigger sealed reserve, he then quized me on military gear (luckily I know about some of it) and he let me board. The other times, I was cleared once it passed the explosive test. Once again - a lot of these agents are on a power trip, or just are trying to keep their job by not letting anything odd on the plane. Treat them with more respect than they deserve, and you will usually have no problems. Don't get mad, don't raise your voice, and if you run into a dead end, ask for a manager. Then send an email to Ed Scott at the USPA. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

  14. Anybody but Bush, no way in hell can he expect a vote from me. "If this were a dictatorship, it'd be a heck of a lot easier...just as long as I'm the dictator..." --quote taken from a statement given by George W. 16. He won't need to use his routine - that isn't what talk-radio is about. The idea is to use his name to draw in listeners, and the idea of "liberal talk." I can tell you first hand - it is easier to fill a three hour talk show than you think - I know because I did it, which means anyone can do it. Hell, I watched Danny Bonaduce go from a has-been into a talk-show star. Think about this - you have 4 commercial breaks an hour, the news twice an hour, plus leave space for the affiliates to do local news, weather and traffic. That leaves about 42-46 minuetes an hour, spread out over 4 segements. Take one topic per "hour" come up with 4 subtopics and repeat process for the next two hours. Don't forget, according to your TSLs (time spent listening), most people don't listen more than 15 minutes - the things you talk about at the start of the hour can be recapped at the end of every hour, and you can recap hour 1 in hour 2, etc....Say one thing you know will piss off your audience to get at least two good calls - one that will agree and the other that will disagree with you. Guess what, you just filled up your shift. Now, add in tangents, pop-culture news stories, stories of the dumb, breaking news events, guests, games, contests, giveaways, etc...and you have no more time to talk on your show. I followed this pattern for a show I produced from 11p-3a and took the ratings from 0.1 to 2.2 (better ratings than our lead in) in one book with no advertising or budget and a no name talent. Honestly, there hasn't been anything new and exciting on radio in years - and there isn't anything like a typical "radio war" to get you new listeners. Stern did a favor for every morning show he went after in a market - he actually raised their ratings by refering to them. If O'Reilly, Rush, etc even talk about Franken and they will only be giving him free advertisments. It is win-win for the Franken show _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  17. Found this in the Chicago Sun-Times. Liberal talk network lands Chicago outlet January 14, 2004 BY ROBERT FEDER SUN-TIMES COLUMNIST Progress Media, the fledgling radio network conceived as a liberal antidote to conservative talk formats, has identified a Chicago station as it first broadcast outlet. WNTD-AM (950), a Spanish-language station that is in the process of being sold by Radio Unica Communications to Multicultural Radio Broadcasting, will carry the new talk radio network, under terms of a local marketing agreement announced Tuesday. Progress Media has an option to buy WNTD once Multicultural Radio Broadcasting officially closes on its deal, sources said. "It is an extremely significant event for Progress Media to have clearance in the third-largest media market in the country," said Jon Sinton, president of the network. "Combined with other markets we are close to finalizing, Progress Media will have tremendous reach right out of the box." The network also announced that it has signed comedian and author Al Franken to host a three-hour weekday talk show, and signed Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Mike Papantonio to host a show about "the inner workings of corporations and how they influence our daily lives." Martin Kaplan, associate dean of the University of Southern California's Annenberg School for Communications, will host a talk show about the news media. Franken, who has established himself as one of the country's leading conservative-bashers, said: "My first priority is to get sued by a right-wing jerk in order to generate interest in my new show, 'The O'Franken Factor.' Our hope is to do drug-free talk radio, although I understand it's never been done. "Quite simply, my plan is to alter the political landscape, drive this radical right-wing president from office and stand as a beacon for ordinary Americans who work hard and play by the rules. Short of that, I'd just like to get on in Albany," he said. No date has been set for the launch of the network, which recently was acquired from North Shore venture capitalists Sheldon and Anita Droby by an investment group headed by Mark Walsh, a former America Online executive and an adviser to the Democratic National Committee. Programming will be headed by Dave Logan, a former program director of WLUP-FM (97.9). He most recently was vice president of program operations at XM Satellite Radio. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 20. Well, looks like that was it....or close to it - I just turned off any form of acceleration in DX9, WMP and Winamp. Looks like Winamp may have been the reason...now I just need to slowly add it back in one at a time. Not like I need high end stereo with just two spearkers at work. Thanks Bri! _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  21. OK, looks like no one saw my last post, so let me try it here under this title.... my first post:Ok, this one has me scratching my head. I have WMPv9 on my PC at work, and just recently installed WinAmp5. Audio on WinAmp and WMP is now playing in double time, making even deep voices sound like hyper chipmunks. I have the same setup at home (Except for the OS - 2000Pro at work, XP Pro at home). Any ideas? I've quickly went thru the WinAmp menus and didn't see anything about speed or pitch of audio, or on WMP. second post: I am at a loss here. My PC is still playing everything at high speed. I've uninstalled WinAmp, and even unistalled/installed my Sound Card. Audio, including redbook/CD audio in WMP9, is playing at high speed (imagine a 33 record playing at 45). I have the latest updates for WMP and even DirectX....the only thing I haven't tried is seeing if there are updated drivers... OS is Win2K Pro, and I was able to talk the tech guys into giving me admin rights. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 22. I have a student that is officially diagnosed with Adult ADHD. She is a genious, but just can never sit still and gets bored too quick..... Adult versions are slowing being recognized by doctors, drug companies and insurance plans. It will probably take a few more years and a few more 20/20 type TV shows to talk about it before it becomes accepted. Hell, some insurance companies don't believe in migraines, and they have been comonplace in our culture for at least a decade even thou there isn't any medical proof of them yet. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me....
