You would make more money if you went to a DZ that doesn't charge your for a spot on the packing mat or uses a concession for the sport jumpers (both stupid ideas for everyone). Find a busy DZ that allows anyone to pack on the sport jumper side and get there at the start of the season. Start getting regulars and word will get out. By the time the season hits full stride you will be a fast and reliable packer with hands that hurt until Friday. If you can find someone that is willing to oversee you, that is even better. Only do concessions if you are doing student gear - anything else is a ripoff and stealing money from your pocket. If you make a good enough reputation you may get tested out to pack student gear and possibly make more money in a day by being able to do both. You have a few months - better start practicing now - most jumpers will not wait 25 minutes to have their canopy packed. Get it under 15 minutes for the start of the season - by mid season you should be down to 10 minutes a pack, end of season will be 5 minute pack jobs. Also, don't ever expect to jump, good packers don't get much airtime. One of these years I will do more jumps than I do pack jobs. Oh, this method worked for me. (hint - PM me if you can't figure it out) _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

Bird Man Flying 6ft down a Mountain~~~~~~~HOLY CRAP AMAZING
ChasingBlueSky replied to SouthernJumper's topic in The Bonfire
Not to mention that when you're kicking that slowly downwards, your forward speed really starts getting up there. It's a trade-off. Plus the wing span needed for that may have enough drag to do some damage to the person that flies it. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... A few of us are in the process of trying to secure some corp sponsors for a well known charity in connection to a skydiving event. If someone has connections that will help us out, please PM as soon as possible! If you have experience with this and wish to pass on some tips, let me know....or, if your company may be interested...again, please send me a PM. I will be happy to discuss all the details with you one-on-one. Thanks all! _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... As far as the Catholic Church is concerned, this isn't a big deal. Intra-faith marriages happen all the time, and there are passages about it in Canon Law. In fact, we were talking about this last night during the Super Bowl - most of my friends went to the Seminary with me, and there was a priest there last night as well (he was a classmate of mine). My sister is marrying a Jewish guy this summer, and my friend (former seminarian) is marrying a Jewish girl this fall. The parents have no right to force you to change faiths, but in the eyes of the Catholic Church, the kids are usually raised in the Mother's faith....that is probably why they are pressing the issue. Legally, intra-faith marriages are the same when it comes to the license. If you have the wedding in your church, you will need a Catholic priest on hand to bless the union as well - this is the only way the church will recognize the marriage. Here is something interesting - if a intra-faith marriage happens outside the Catholic church, and there was never a priest on hand to bless it, an anulment is never needed and the Church feels that you were never married. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Online Petition for Missy & Bill: 2004 World Meet
ChasingBlueSky replied to Trent's topic in The Bonfire
Wow - I wonder who would be childish enough to do such a thing? Must be someone that really wants the US to have an open slot in the competition (what motivation do they have?). Well, guess some people still have a grade-school mentality. Too bad Ok, lets get back to the positive on this. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again..... -

Why do I have the feeling that someone who has spent a good portion of his life teaching students in a post-secondary education, at one of the top schools in the country, would have a better handle on how to evaluate students than you or the President? We have students here in my school that are fantastic, and incredibly smart. However, due to poor testing their grades do not reflect that. I just had to let one of my students go this week - he spent more time in school and after-hours than ANY one else in school, yet due to his poor testing and mandates associate with being an accredited college and Title IV funding, we had to let him go. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Notice that that pattern of his speeches always address the war, terroism, 9/11 for close to 2/3 of his speech and any domestic topics are shoved in together at the end? _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... You mean like this? Source: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/onpolitics/transcripts/bushtext_012803.html Also: http://www.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/01/28/sotu.transcript/ BTW, I had to pull this quote from his 2003 State of the Union Address off of the Washington Post and CNN web sites because, oddly enough, a transcript of it no longer exists on http://www.whitehouse.gov/stateoftheunion/2004/index.html. The White House is trying to scrub the web site clean. The link on the 2003 web page for the State of the Union Address conviently redirects to the transcript of the 2004 speech. Go ahead -- try the link! You'll notice the 2002 speech is intact, but you can ONLY get a summary of the 2003 speech from whitehouse.gov! Thank god for the Fourth Estate and talk about f'in revisionist history! The Webmaster should take /root away from Karl Rove and company. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Damn....if I had known I would have called! I'm there a lot with at least enough time for lunch. Spent the night not long ago and ended up having to go to eat at Hooters cause there isn't much else around the Oak Lawn Hilton. Let me know next time - I work downtown, put live right there. That is a nice Hooters btw! Tell me what you are looking for in Oak Lawn - I know the area quite well. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me....
