what a freaking rip off -
Relaxed arch 174 mph. Average RW speed 138 mph. I haven't tried to arch my ass off yet and see my max belly speed. Sounds like my next dive plan

Stories like that makes me smile like mad!! Good shit!!

Rear riser landings, when is too soon?
cvfd1399 replied to WrongWay's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
How many times do people just read the initial post and not the whole thread? Your initial post stated nothing about not swooping. That is why I posted. -

I got you sim and play with it from time to time. I will give the numbers a look thanks. Thanks billvon too for the numbers -
I did that on my first jump on BOC coach jump 14k exit practice pulls till 8k then deploy. I always immediatly look at my handle after my canopy is over head and touch it. One to make sure it is seated properly, for practice, and muscle memory. I have a Single operating handle(S.O.S) So it makes for a quicker cut away, but no option to make a 2 out if needed.

I know you mean swooping, but to not confuse anyone that might not understand what you mean. You should start trying rear riser procedures EARLY in your jumping career. I had to use rear riser to land 2 times once on jump number 9 and then again on jump number 11. I had never tried rear risers before jump number 9 and I was sorry I had not. Broken steering line rear riser flared onto a severly bruised tail bone. Jump number 10 lots of rear riser flares. Jump number 11, another broken steering line, rear riser landing/plf was perfect, jumped up screaming "yea take that murphys law"!! -
I am so thinking about getting that done. I sinch my straps tight standing up, but when I crawl in the plane, and kneel down they are flopping around, and slide down 2-3 inches.

why do we not have cutaway/reserve pillows like this?
cvfd1399 replied to Newbie's topic in Gear and Rigging
Yea like that textured stickers that you put on steps for grip. Or even the rubber hogue pistol grip material. That stuff is pretty grippy I am sure that the agressive stuff would eat at your rig overtime like velcro tho. -
Anvil-a large skydiver capable of belly flying with freefliers Tugboat- A anvils canopy Both apply to me

I have 7 jumps on BOC from ripcord now, and so far after a RW jump and track as I am stopping my track to get ready to deploy I reach back and touch my PC handle. I usually do it 500 feet from my normal pull altitude. I do not wave off, and I do not make a throwing movement, just a relaxed reach and touch to not alarm anyone, then back to arch wave off and throw. Does anyone do this occasionally just to be prepared, and to learn the muscle memory in the air? Is this a bad thing to do for people around me freaking out?(my thought is that they should not be that close anyways) I will stop this every in a few jumps as I am now comfortable with BOC. Just wondering everyones thoughts on when it is acceptable to do practice touches/pulls.

Can you post a few numbers for different jump run ground speeds, and their seperation numbers using regular twin otter air speeds? You could use that as a starting guide for everyone to use. Instead of everyone giving a general 6 seconds on a fast upper or a slow upper day which is wrong b/c the faster upper leads to less ground speed and seperation per second. Ie..(using a normal twin otter air speed into a headwind jumprun) 05k uppers is___ jumprun ground speed= 5 sec delay 10k uppers is___ jumprun ground speed=6 sec delay 15k uppers is___jumprun ground speed=7 sec delay so on and so forth. That way if you have a ___groundspeed you can explain that for this many seconds you count you attain+or-__ feet of seperation from the group that just exited. I know that there are times that this needs to be adjusted, but this would help new people like me get the understanding that we are looking for distance between exiting groups, and the only way to do that is to let the aircraft take us away before we jump. Also that a aircraft that always goes 90k on jumprun does not move across the ground the same speed every time due to the winds it is flying in be it headwind/tailwind jumprun. What I am thinking is it is easier to understand for first timers that way. Then you can throw in all the other variables.(spelling for all ) Also I was told that total jump run should not last over 60 seconds from first climbout to last jumper away. I don't know at what ground speed that was figured at. Can anyone give the total jump run time for the above statement with different uppers. Ie higher uppers means a longer timed jumprun B/C of less groundspeed. Edit: I know that it sounds like a student which I am. The more I put what I think I know out and get feedback the more I know that I know or don't know what I thought I knew. -
Yea the make shift bungee snapped and hit the guy in the head and hurt him really bad. His friend flew his canopy from above CREW syle!! until landing for him b/c he was paralized. The crew style canopy driving from above ROCKED! He steered him right to the dz and 10 feet from the loading area so he could get help. Then he let go and landed 20 feet infront of him and ran back to help. Much props to that canopy pilot!

Just jump!!!!! It is hot down here so a open door is welcome until your swetty jumpsuit gets cold and you start to shiver.

NICE I am planning on getting either a nav 220 or a pilot 210. Nice to know the nav can still have fun relative to it's size. I will be loading it more than him too
