Why cant the helmets offer more protection. I bought my Z1 expecting something like a motorcycle helmet, that arrived thinner than a football helmets shell?

I have seen 3 tandem cutways and every time the student didn't have a clue. On the last one the student even asked the TI under a reserve if he ever had a cutaway!!!!! I don't know if he told them in the air or once they landed, but I would have been cracking up inside. Nice job on saving the database from another stat. I get mad at reserves when I hear they twisted up. Like it is their job to come out all straight and stuff

Good question never thought of that!

I was thinking this was the way one would go about such a task. It was just a discussion me and a friend was having over the subject

There was 500-1000 feet between us in all directions. That is why I said we were screaming at each other in enjoyment, but you couldn't hear each other. -
I agree. What business does he run so I can not buy from him also

In theory.......... Can a rigger take a rig that has a huge pack tray, and take something light and firm like some type of foam and wrap it with canvas and sew it in to the pack tray? What could be done to reduce the size?
-
It wasn't folded and sewn!!!! I hope you caught it before you jumped it right? Did you call them and let them know that it was shipped not sewn?
-
I totally agree. Some people are out there for money, and all a person can trust is their word. If the person who sold it was the person that you talked to, and he didn't honestly forget about his verbal contract with you, then no thanks I will buy some where else.

Would FEMA get involved in a business like that and give disaster funds? Or is that set aside for homeowners and emergency responders?

Thanks for the info. We did a 4 way gripped exit at 14k then broke at 11 and pulled at 10k last time(10k is the highest we can pull here). It was good 4 canopies racing around and screaming at each other. I don't think we ever got close enough to hear each other anyway and that is how it was planned. I was asking for the whole group of us. Jump numbers from 21 to 120. I will pass on the info to the 120 jumper and let him take pics for all of us. -

Discovery channel smoke jumpers, Bill Booth, and Dan Pontyer(sp). Cool show describes their job, static line out of an otter, ram air canopies, the 3 ring system, old capewell releases and Bills zz top beard! It has 15 minutes left, but I am sure there will be a rereun possibly tonight. -

I know some of you do this, probbaly for fun not for real "jobs". We did a 10k HNP the other day that would have been perfect for a hand held camera to snap a few shots. We are thinking about doing another one and bringing along cameras. I personally have a zippered thigh pocket with a closing flap on my jumpsuit. Camera is a 1.3 MP olympus D-400 I got for $40 as a DZ throw around so I can protect my other more$$camera. For in hand security that lanyard seems pretty sturdy. As far as toggles go I have always heard to never let them go out of your hands. I can reach them at the riser eyelets, so if they get sucked up to them , or if they are floating behind and above I can reach up and get them no problem. I think trying to take picture and keeping them in hand would be too much to deal with for a few pictures. Is that the main concern for not letting them go after you release them? -
I like the idea of letting someone elsa pay for the depreciation on things, but only if you do not lose money in the long run. Think about how long you plan on keeping that rig, and think about a cypress that has about that many years left on it. As far as the Vigil thing goes I am not sure if there is still a bug issue, or if people keep "hating" on a new product. The only experience I have seen with them is a buddy of mine had one in his new wings that had errors and a wacky display. Instead of wating on the bugs to be fixed and not wanting to be jumping something that could save his life that still has issues he got a cypress2.

I am not an instructor, but I have had experience in what you are talking about, and in similar situations. It seems to me that you "Attacked" the hackey. I found that if I rushed for it I miss it, probbaly the case for your second jump especially since you had the problem on your other jump. I agree with the other posters, let someone have a look at the rig, and make sure it fits do creaper work, and do a hold jump. You have to create that muscle memory, once you have it down it doesn't matter where it is if you can physically get to it you will. Like when I was in the police academy when we first started to draw and holster they would not let us look down at our side to look at the weapon or holster. It was funny to see people trying to put it in their belt and their pants pocket, but once we got the muscle memory down pat you can draw like lightning, and holster without looking. It's all about muscle memory, technique, and the CONFIDENCE that you will get it and save your life.

I am with you on the looking into the racer thing. I know a working vidot that has a racer at my dz. I have watched him tighten up the reserve in a snap. The prices on the rig, and the parts if you have a reserve ride are VERY appealing to my wallet. I will have to get a demo in a few months and see how I like it. I feel comfortable with their being able to get you a rig looking at their site and the sideline rigs that they make. Let me know what they say when you get more info. I am sure that a super anvil having their rig would bring some attention their way, might get you a few goodies IMO.

Cost of freebag (Tell me this is a joke!!!)
cvfd1399 replied to goose491's topic in Gear and Rigging
I do not own a racer, have never jumped a racer, just using this as a comparison b/c it is the only site that I found that had it listed. With that said, I want my first rig to be a wings, but jump shack's prices have made me want to look into their gear. Reserve PC: $70 Freebag: $65 Cutaway handle: $30 Reserve handle: $36 Pop top: ? TOTAL: $201-$216 EDIT TO ADD: If I would have looked up I would have seen the previous post
