Or is it like natural gas and mercaptin(sp) You smell it at a low PPM level, but it takes a much higher level above that in which you smell to be harmful? Just a thought. I am in my 3rd refresher since I got my EMT years ago(10 years in field) we just had this discusssion. the thinking was that air is what keeps you alive, stopping c-spine integrity might parailize you, but you will still be alive. Now the thinking is "what if compression of the nerve that controlls all breathing and heart regulation that exits your spine at C3-C4 is causing the breathing problem". Do you risk further compressing/shearing that nerve that goes straight to the diaphram that might paralize that muscle and kill you only to remove a helmet? I say if the rate, and quality(tidal volume) is enough, leave it. If you are a non-medical responder, and are wondering how to judge adequate breathing, breath like the patient. Take in the amount of air at the same time and rate that they do, if you feel that you are being deprived the patient probbaly is also. Air we breathe is approx. 21% oxygen, and on each breath we only use about 20% of that 21% available, so if you can get 100% oxygen to the patient via a non-rebreather(if you can take the sheild off) or even by placing it near their mouth and nose(blow by method) that right there increased the amount of air that they can get in each shallow,labored, or irregular breath. I think that if there is NO breathing would be one of the only reasons to take it off until advanced life support arrives to intubate, and apply other life saving interventions. If the patient is not breathing take off the helmet slowley, and with as much care as possible and use the modified jaw thrust manuver to open the airway as it is the only reccommended method to use on a neck injury.

I live in Baton Rouge, and I also ride a Harley. As far as the law goes it SHOULD have been put to a vote BY the PEOPLE. I always wear mine, but the stupid Democrat Bitch running this state BLANCO has her own personal agenda, and is doing nothing but what she wants to do. The reason she fought for this law is that her nextdoor neighbor lost her son due to a motorcycle accident where he was not wearing a helmet. She also reversed the law that was fought for by the previous Republican Govenor Mike Foster. I think it is already enough risk that we have to ride around a bunch of dumb ass drivers, that a helmet may help or hurt a crash. The other day I was riding and a woman crossed the line into my lane on a 4 way hwy. I watched her the whole time and knew she was gonna do it. After she swerved back in her lane, and realised I was there I sped up to give her the usual mean look, and noticed the reason she swerved was that she was driving with her knees while eating a BOWL OF CEREAL! I swear if i had a TOW or a JAVALIN missle with me she would have been a blown up. One you rid elong enough, you get some sort of esp , and can tell which driver is about to do something stupid right before they do it. You get a funny feeling when someone swerves in your lane and never notices you after you reccognized them as a hazard correctly ahead of time and realize if you did not get away from them t could have been worse a few seconds earlier.

Size of folder 10.2 GB (10,976,841,705 bytes) 3,333 songs in 883 folders The "My Music" folder was created in 2002 but that was a transfer from my old hard drive when I upgraded to win xp pro. Probbaly since 97 or 98. I will buy a cd that has all good songs on it, but I am not paying for 1 good song and 14 fillers. I think the last 3 I bought were Creed, Metallica mexico set, and something else. With the exception of about 500 of the newest releases most the music I have is just downloads of music I have already had in the past on tape or cd that I broke or lost.
