  1. Is that the same outfit that operates the DZ in Casa Grande?
  2. The relevance is that it appeals to FoxNews & its audience. Or perhaps a transgender person married to man who she then killed isn't considered "normal" by most. Just a thought. Where I come from a Sagittarius married to a man who she then killed isn't considered normal either.
  3. I am confused about the relevance of her being transgendered. Was she also a Sagittarius? It seems equally germane.
  4. The BB indicated that the de-icing boots had been selected for some time. Does anyone know if Dash-8 icing boots automatically cycle, or are they susceptible to icing over the inflated boot?
  5. The thing is someone already posted comments on the judges ruling. That thread was recycled.
  6. So it wasn't immigrants; it was injuns. Nothing in the term "Native North American" is species specific.
  7. The problem is what are the yardsticks for success. Did the new deal succeed or did it prolong the depression? The answer is probably both. The new deal brought relief to millions of Americans who were truly desperate, but then it had to be paid for. If the goal of the program is to halt the recession by the next quarter then it will fail. If the goal is to reduce the depth of the recession by 0.5% of GDP maybe it will succeed. But if the price is one additional quarter of flat output is it still a success? What if the price is three additional quarters? What if it results in a "lost decade" such as Japan endured? One thing is sure, twenty years from now the Dems will hail it as a success and the GOP will not.
  8. Oh sure,Blame Canada. The fact is these geese claim aboriginal title to the migratory routes along the east coast without regard for national boundaries.
  9. Which of course begs the question: Why then do you need the intercessor in the first place?
  10. I think if she rips you off in a drug deal it's OK.
  11. As is usual with these taser related cases, it comes down to what the circumstances are that the officer is authorized to use the taser. In this case he could have deplyed alternative methods to accomplish his desired result. He could have kicked the guy in the ribs several times for example and achieved a similar amount of pain to encourage compliance. The question therefore is was the officer justified in kicking the guy in the ribs several times in this case? Yes, this was excessive force.
  12. Sure, but it is normal for societies to look for heroes. I grew up thinking Billy Bishop was the greatest man to ever live, but he was probably an egotistical, womanizing, lush, like most of the other pilots I know. What has really changed is the way the press gleefully burns the icons to the ground as soon as they have built them up.
  13. Tandem=$50 AFFI=$25-35 Video=$35 Coach=$20 Packing T=$18 S=$7
  14. I find it a better response than just repeating what the last guy said.
  15. The truth is during most market sessions the selling of shorts is a market calming device. If a stock is rising rapidly it is likely to overshoot it's new equilibrium position as emotion and market momentum swamp cold evaluation. The smart investor senses this and sells short, thus putting downward pressure on a rising price. This dampening effect limits both the overshoot, and the resulting downward oscillation of the price. While the price is falling the existing shorts represent latent buying pressure During a market correction (or crash) the practice has the opposite effect and exacerbates the instability, but that is the exception, not the norm. It is also the only time the practice makes the news. Sort of like the only time RSLs get discussed on DZcom is when they cause a problem.
  16. Right after the velvet revolution in Czechoslovakia they declared a general amnesty. The really bad guys were re-incarcerated pretty quickly, but the huge influx of former prisoners to the streets of Prague during really tough economic times made the street very exiting.
  17. I care. The system will always have cheats, but if we succumb then we will have a system where the only way to succeed is to cheat. That is probably already true in some sports (short distance track comes to mind) and may be true in baseball. In baseball the great players get there by combining talent with hard work. If the system is established where the only way to the top is talent hard work and steroids then that is what those people will do. So also will the also rans. So also will the never rans in the colleges and high schools. Platform shoes looked good to me when I was in high school because I thought I would look taller. Of course everyone else was wearing them so I ended up buying them to stay even, not to get ahead. I don't believe we should acquiesce to a regime where our young people know they cannot succeed in sports unless they sacrifice their bodies to steroids.
  18. Actually the facebook agreement specifies non-exclusive rights.
  19. How many people are incarcerated for consensual sex crimes? I have to agree with putting people in jail for DUIs. Most people who drive drunk are not career criminals. These are the sort of people for whom deterrence clearly does work (people like me).
  20. Personally, I blame the French.
  21. Ah, now I understand your objection. Yes, you are correct, you would not quite achieve escape velocity on your downward trip. I agree. If you check post #16 of this thread I said " I believe that if you started 100,000 miles out or so you'd be close to escape velocity ". The caveat is "close to". My advanced math skills are weak. I'm a rule of thumb guy. Maybe I should have said "possibly approaching"? I was on my first cup of coffee when I read it. I did not see the "close to." I withdraw my objection.
  22. Since you postulated starting a freefall at a given height all the acceleration and thus the motion would be directly at the planet. Just like in regular skydiving you will hit the planet. Right, but you cannot achieve escape velocity using only the energy gained from the force that is equal to the one you are trying to overcome. In fact it is the same force but in the opposite direction going as coming. The further out you start, the weaker the initial acceleration so even though you do accelerate longer, you still do not achieve escape velocity. Look at the orbits of comets for example.
