  1. Great job by the TM. He brought her back, reassured her, and showed her a good time.
  2. One of my neighbours didn't do a very good job of clearing the snow from her sidewalk. Now where is that number for the city. I wonder if I can report that dangerous asshole who changed lanes against the solid line at the same time or do I have to call a different number for that. Damm! I almost crashed writing his license number down; reckless bastard.
  3. Ross Gusftafson (Gustavson?). Don't know where he is now.
  4. I hope you contact the USPA every time you see a BSR violated. If someone dumps low and the DZSO does nothing, CALL USPA. Period.
  5. For those who claim it is your duty to call the authorities-if you see someone selling drugs on the DZ do you: a) avoid that person? b) tell the DZSO or DZO? c) visit your local police dept and give them the details? What if you see someone using drugs in the evening? Do you still have the duty to call the law?
  6. I don't get it. Like any other business, they want to clean up the books from time to time. The last thing we did when we shut for the winter last year was send out bills for outstanding accounts. If someone insists they either a)paid for that jump or b) checked their records and are sure they didn't jump, then we write it off. Just call them and tell them there has been a bookkeeping error. It happens in every other business on the planet, why not at the DZ?
  7. This thread has nothing to do with arms imports from the US. I used it as an example of how poor the OP's argument was.
  8. Bullshit What is bullshit about it? What would you suggest the US could do to stop it? I'm sure there are things that could be improved, what do you think? It is easy to say that we're doing nothing to stop it, because as you cross the border, you don't have to pass through US authorities inspecting vehicles and such for weapons, it is Canadian authorities that must do it, and the opposite is true on the way back (I think that is true). The same could be said of illegals coming from Mexico - Mexican officials don't inspect you on the way into the US. However, the fact that the Mexican government provides advice on how to do it is a crucial distinction. That was my point.
  9. Fuck American law; they don't even attempt to stop the massive volume of illegal firearms coming into Canada even as we send millions of barrels of oil to their country so they don't have to depend on the middle east.
  10. What's scary is that you really don't see a problem with people going anywhere they want around the world and enforcing US law. US lawis not valid in Mexico any more than Mexican law is valid in the US. The two governments do, however, have an extradition treaty which would have dealt with the problem had this Dog guy informed the Mexican police. I hope he rots in prison.
  11. Personal experience. The sample set is ,however, quite large.
  12. If a student dies in a landing incident who gets suspended? The FJC instructor? The j/m(s)? the radio instructor? The Tandem instructor(s) who gave the student those all important first cc lessons?
  13. An argument could be made that a manditory leave takes a tool from the lawyer for the plaintif. If a DZO or regional rep suspends an instructor from working, that could be construed as an indictment.
  14. So if an experienced jumper dies in a landing incident on Saturday morning the usual result is that there will be no commerce on that DZ for the weekend? Makes you wonder why more and more DZs are gaining the label, "experienced jumper unfriendly." Yes, but you didn't just lose your livelihood for the weekend.
  15. Right on! If this dog guy was the good guy he pretends to be he would respect the law in whatever jurisdiction he was in. Kidnapping is illegal in all 50 states, why wouldn't it be in Mexico.
  16. I think you are very sadly mistaken. If you take a group of, say, college age students and expose them to either alcohol or cocaine, after one year you may be correct, most would not have a problem. If you look ten years down the road and just look at those who still partake, most of the cocaine users would be in serious trouble whereas the alcohol users would fit into the 10-20% problem drinkers/addicts that have been well documented. I took cocaine now and then around twenty-five years ago. I cannot think of one friend from that part of my life who still recreationally uses coke. I can think of a few who are completely fucked up, a couple who are dead, several who have rebuilt their lives to varying degrees after burning it down, and the huge majority who, like me, saw the trap and backed away. When I look at my friends who ruined their lives on coke and compare them to myself I know what the difference between us was; luck. I was not smarter, nor did I possess greater inner strength or fortitude; I just didn't didn't spring the trap. It's a trap my friend. Back away ten paces, and then turn and never look back
  17. Your arguement seems to hinge on Europe acting in lockstep with the US. They will not precisely because they do not benefit from US hegemony. During the cold war there was no question western Europe's interests feathered well with America's. Now it is not so clear. For example the US invaded Iraq and removed a government that owed France a lot of money. Not only is France not going to be repaid but much of the trade that existed has vanished or has become US-Iraq trade.
  18. I agree. If he makes it to the Senate he and all Minnesotans will pay the price. A junior senator with a large group of senior senators with personal vendettas will not be effective.
  19. The solo does not have canopy alarms. The L&B product you want is the Optima. I bought one recently and am very happy with it. It is very slim and should have no trouble fitting in your helmet. Be very careful putting it next to your ear, however, as it is very, very loud at the factory setting.
  20. Anyone know fuel burn for a -34? Specific G for jet A?
  21. Why? When I drive by it just sits there.
  22. Slightly off topic Saw a news article last night suggesting evidence circumcision helps prevent AIDS. They took 5000 African men (Uganda I think), cut half, and educated all. I don't recall the exact results after five years but it was significant. edited to add the link http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20070211/male_circumcision_070211/20070211?hub=Health
