Is the US nearing bankruptcy or already there?
Andrewwhyte replied to rasmack's topic in Speakers Corner
The gross debt is a concern, but the net debt is what you should be looking at (what I was comparing it to was roughly analagous to our net debt). Tresury bills held by other branches of the Federal government are not real debt. They are a bit like hours on the engine that you haven't put any money aside to do the overhaul for; you don't actually owe the money but if you don't change your ways you will end up without an airplane. -

Whoever "ya'll is. If you mean me, I disgree with Bush on this. Damn, where did you put that pigeonhole? I don't think Amazon assigned you to one end of the morality cesspool or another; she just pointed out that you are swimming in it. -

Canada has approximately 10% the population and economic power as the US. Our National debt is over 500B which is more than ten times yours. Furthermore our provencial governments are carying debts per capita much higher than your state govs (many who carry none by constitution). However we have run surplus budgets for eight years in a row. We have reduced our national debt by close to 100B in that period. I would have to conclude that the US is nowhere near being unable to meet it's fiduciary obligations. Will it require higher taxes? more service fees? a drop in the quality and quantity of government services? A significant scaling back of the military and the consequent unemployment that will entail? In some combination or another the answer is inevitably YES! -

This event took place on the ninetieth anniversary of the battle of the Somme, a battle that claimed over one million souls. I know this will strain your little brain, but if you do the math that means this battle took place in 1916. That's right World War One didn't start in 1917! That's just when you guys got off the couch. When democracy has been truly at risk Canada has never hesitated; we just don't go chasing John Foster Dulles' or Donald Rumsfeld's bogeymen. (BTW here's another shocker; WWII started in 1939! No really!)

This seems to have big possibilities for LHS to be door food. Is the student's orientation straight out the door or more foreward?

New York City: How far fo you commute into NYC
Andrewwhyte replied to Rookie120's topic in The Bonfire
Either make your life there or don't take the job. Millions of people make their life in the big city (duh) but if you don't want that then find another job in Colorado or wherever. Just my opinion. -

How to make a major life decision in the next 48 hours

Yea! Dream the big dreams; take life in big bites. -
Although who taught them is something to notice, I would be careful about putting to much weight on that. I am regularly dealing with the results of the worst rigger I have ever seen (now out of the industry). He was taught by Sandy Reid, who happens to be the guy my current rigger (Rigger Rob) did his Masters under. I am sure Sandy did as much to instill attention to detail and ethical practices in one guy as the other; it just didn't take. If you want the best in the North-West just drive on up the road to Pitt Meadows and see Rob. Ya I know it's three hours with the border, but it's a good excuse to spend the weekend. Of course if you are still in Atlanta the drive is longer.

CSPA Parachutist Information Manual – Part I 2.6 No jumper shall make, or attempt to make, a parachute descent while under the influence of a drug, alcoholic beverage or other type of intoxicant. How about rules made in your own country? And if all else fails you can always fall back on common sense.

Sorry, laws made by foreigners don't affect me.

Your right. I wasn't. Funny thing is the chief mechanic at our Aproved Maintenence Organization was just replaced so that is exactly the situation we are in for the second time in two seasons.

It probably isn't the end of the world for a tandem student to have one or two. The chance of them barfing on me goes way up though; no thanks.

Thanks.
