The presence of Farmer Mcfriendly in Pitt Meadows is no accident. Ever since Ian Flanagan bought Pacific Skydivers he has made being a good neighbour a high priority. No complaint gets ignored, and when there is property damage he simply writes a cheque and writes it off as part of the cost of doing business. When the local Deer Farmer told him the price of his customers landing out in his field was a contribution to Ducks Unlimited he made a contribution in kind for years afterward. When ATC was wary of us landing on the airport or so close to Vancouver International he issued a standing invite to all the controllers for a free fam flight and/or tandem. All controllers who take him up on the tandem are offered free instruction. Over the years these and other initiatives have cost him a few thousand bucks and saved him priceless amounts in headache remedies. The last time I had a mal in Pitt Meadows the Main and freebag landed in town about a block apart. By the time I got my passenger in the hanger and drove over to the main a guy had pulled the canopy off the trailer it landed on and sent his son down the street to get the freebag. They were folded neatly by the curb waiting for me. BTW Flanagan is going to Lodi tomorrow to get the other KA.

I kinda feel bad for the guy after all these years but the Canadian government has no business prying into the affairs of an American in America. The fact that he may also have Canadian citizenship is irrelevent, if he wanted sanctuary from his old government he should not have returned. I have heard of people getting into trouble returning to see their dying mother, but a vacation in Reno, gimme a break.
