Who is the most experience skydiver?
Andrewwhyte replied to camamel's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Is standing in the wind the same as flying in it? If you are going to count tunnel time you should subtract all time standing on the screen or in the door. -

Well, obviously, this is not meant to be taken literally. It refers to any manufacturers of dairy products.

You missed Rob's hint; you're in when he gets your check.

First of all it wasn't a mistake; it was a deliberate insult. Just like it was at the Detroit home opener last week. Second of all we are not that worried. Illegal Guatemalan immigration is actually more prevalent than Mexican. We do havea guest worker program that is seeing a growing number of Mexicans. In Canada that is generally seen as diluting the Asian heavy mix

Warren Buffett just bought 10% of my Company!
Andrewwhyte replied to Duckwater's topic in The Bonfire
If Buffett is bullish on your company maybe you should not ever sell; just exercise and hold. -
Perhaps you could fill in the time practicing with your coach rating. Being a coach is the minimum standard; being a good coach is better.

I really like The Economist because it gives us a view from off the continent, but when you read it every week it becomes very predictable.

Where should I study abroad?
Andrewwhyte replied to UnusualAttitude's topic in Events & Places to Jump
What are you? some kind of weirdo? -
How do you get that? Are you suggesting that the accident rate for jumps 2200-2300 is higher than that for jumps 0-100? and that jumps 4700-4800 is higher yet again? I don't think so. Yes he is, and statistically that's true. Poppycock! With a constantly increasing level of danger those with 10 000 and more would be dying at a phenomenal rate per jump made. Since these people tend to jump close to 1000 times a year their fatality rate over time would be even more pronounced. The statistics demonstrate just the opposite.

Make that five straights days of snow with cold temperatures. I don't give a shit; I'm going skydiving tomorrow anyway.

In Canada we were taught about the "taxation without representation" thing. Brief mention was given to attitudes in London that 'the colonies are not worth the bother,' and the higher importance of thrashing the French. We were then given several months of the glorious accounts of the true heroes of the age. The United Empire Loyalists were horrified with the vicious acts of the republican terrorists due to the 'mob rule' that held (holds) sway in the barbarian lands to our south. Those who could escape with their families came to the loyal colonies and formed the cornerstone of our great nation. Isn't that how it's taught everywhere?

The BPA has a very good PPT FJC designed for a Static line course. We took Netheravon's and adapted it for IAD and our DZ. If you could get a copy of one it would give you some very good ideas on how to make your presentation effective. (Sorry but I no longer have a copy of it). BTW Tdog that file has a rather grainy but otherwise very good side by side video on it.

Ground Zero, NYC. -Still Significant?
Andrewwhyte replied to ACMESkydiver's topic in Speakers Corner
I am not an American. I have only been to New York once; a long time ago. Yes it's still significant. If I am ever there again I will definitely pay my respects to the site. If I am in France I will visit Juno Beach; I will visit Vimy Ridge. If I am in New York I will visit WTC. -
Who has the most jumps on here?
Andrewwhyte replied to WI-Fly's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I would be shocked if Bill has ever been on this site. -

Uni is one of my favorite types of sushi. I have, however, learned not to order it further than 100 miles from the ocean. Biscuits and and gravy for breakfast on the other hand,... WTF?

How much different type of instructors should earns?
Andrewwhyte replied to camamel's topic in Instructors
Skill level, danger, time, and personal cost are all important considerations, but supply and demand are still king. From what I have seen TMs are in higher demand than PFF (AFF) jms. Therefore they seem to be paid a bit higher on average. Here in Alberta two DZs have offered me $50.00 per tandem; no PFF is a bit closer to $30.00. BTW methodical is the word you were looking for. -

French train breaks speed record..574.8km/h
Andrewwhyte replied to shropshire's topic in The Bonfire
Sadly less than half that fast when in service. -
That's particularly funny in this thread, as the four juniors and one senior who started for Florida last night were the same five players who started the championship game last year. Blues, Dave The best of the mediocre. Their talented contemporaries are already in the bigs.

College Bball is so lame. Anyone with any talent turns pro after their sophomore year at the latest.
