  2. Right on all counts. A damn fine snubbie, at a very decent price, pretty as a picture, and made in a country that wouldn't let me own it. (just like my future Glock will be) witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

  4. I made it a point to call them a tell them how much I don't approve, and I faxed them a "less than complimentary letter" with a copy of my Taurus receipt (important info blacked out, of course), just to let them know that it is going to hit them in their pocketbook. Isn't she a beauty? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  5. Damn girl, aren't you exhausted yet? OH, this is ... a ... computer ... game ... ... ... ... um yeah, so I'm going back to the gun threads now... witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  6. http://www.sptimes.com/2005/04/25/Southpinellas/Police_arm_themselves.shtml So Mr Diaz believes arming police officers will turn cities into combat zones? This from the man who has suggested that only police and military should be allowed to own guns? Strange that he trusts them until they seek more effective means to protect themselves and the public. If there is someone willing to shoot at officers, then the "combat zone" wil exist whether officers are prepared or not. Would Mr. Diaz prefer reenactments of the North Hollywood shootout, where officers are at a significant disadvantage? Factually incorrect. The law enforcement transition from revolvers to semi-automatics had been happening long before the Beretta contract. Besides, the military was switching from one semi-auto to another. Also, the military chose a smaller caliber for their handguns (from .45 cal down to 9mm). How did that fuel police departments chosing larger calibers? I suppose Mr. Diaz really would prefer officers go into situations without more options for how to defend themselves. Does anyone else find it odd that a spokesman for an organization so dead-set against effective self defense is telling police how they should defend themselves, and the rest of us? I just can't understand how a group can suggest that only police can be trusted with firearms, but they can't be trusted to choose the best firearms. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  7. http://www.sacbee.com/content/opinion/story/12801107p-13651557c.html They can't even get the facts straight, I wonder how they'll do on logic later... The law has always allowed citizens to use deadly force, including guns, in public. The difference now is that the "duty to retreat" has been changed. The option has always been there. Gun owners exercise "clear judgment and remarkable restraint" every day. This new law will not change that. The new law will also not change the fact that people with CCW licenses are more law abiding than the rest of the public. It will also not change that people with licenses are less likely to hit bystanders than police officers. Liability laws have not changed in the slightest. If a person's acts were not reasonable and resulted in inuries, they are liable for the outcome. Nothing new has been "given" to citizens. I guess facts are not a strong point for the Sacramento Bee. Also, the NRA and other self defense advocate will not have to carry the fight to EVERY state. There are already other states who have a similar law on the books and have had no problems. Well, states with higher gun ownership rates have lower crime rates, and crime has dropped in states that have enacted right-to-carry legislation. The theory has been put to the test, and there is nothing dubious about it. I can't wait to show how this is just one more instance of irrational anti-gun "blood running in the streets" paranoia. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

  9. What the hell is wrong with this company? Between working with people who want to put them out of business, the Clinton HUD agreement, and now this, I wonder if Smith & Wesson doesn't want to go under. Are their lawyers so inept that they can't see the next fifty lawsuits lining up right now, all cases involving no S&W wrong doing, all encouraged by this settlement? http://www.kansas.com/mld/eagle/news/local/crime_courts/11508974.htm witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  10. Of course, more is better and not just for the fun factor. I realize that, and I realize that when I jump less often there is a lot more I have to do to stay safe. (and what isn't safer to do with 2,000 than with 200?) As to the tone of that little talk, well, it came out as one step short of the "TUG speech," and it's still a point of contention between us. Of course fifty jumps is a slow year, but that doesn't mean a person should just stop jumping for a year rather than have fewer jumps. It just chars my ass when someone who's life is falling apart because "nothing but jumping matters" is giving someone with low jumps and low recent jumps an inordinate amount of shit. (this last bit no longer applies to my 'little talk', but to things I've seen) witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  11. I heard that same line of crap a few years ago. When I first started jumping I was as addicted as anyone, and not being at the dropzone when the sun was shining on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday was abnormal. Later in college I had to dial back jumping due to budget, class load, work, an SO, and all the other usual stuff. Sometimes I would go three or four weekends without even trying to get to the DZ. When I did make it out, I could only jump two three, or if I was lucky four times. A jumper I respect told me "You have to knock that shit off. It isn't safe." Well cry me a river, but jumping does not run everyone's life. Now, at the moment I have to admit I would be an unsafe jumper, but that's because I've been on a skydiving "break" for over a year. Not exactly the same as missing a month. Now, the jumper who makes fifteen jumps in a year may be cause for concern, but fifty in a year is not "unsafe" or "dangerous" just because it doesn't meet someone else's standards. To all jumpers who think somebody isn't good enough because they have other priorities in their life: Fuck off, you hurt our sport and are a shit stain on life. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  12. He needs a friend. Friend? He needs a friend in a white jacket, along with a straight jacket and serious medication. (laying off the crack-pipe would probably help, too) witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  13. There were three opportunities where she could've run the guy over (when he was directly in front of or behind the vehicle and she was in the gear to go that way). Yes, one or two might've been too early, where the driver was still reacting, but retreat obviously wasn't an option. Also, once the fucker started chasing her after she tried leaving, it would've been prudent to begin trying to chase down the POS with the bumper. You'd be surpirsed how much damage you can do by simply turning into a person (they're next to the fender, and you put it in reverse and turn the steering wheel "away" from them). L:uckily the POS in the video only wanted to destroy her car. If he'd been intent on personal injury, she would've been bound for the emergency room or the morgue. More than once the POS was staring right at her with not even a window in his way... witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

  15. You left off the modifier "intelligent" for "criminals" in your sentence. The intelligent ones like to work in nice neighborhoods for better stuff and less likelihood of gangs coming after you for retribution. However, as most felons are not particularly intelligent, they tend to prey on their own kind in their own areas. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

  17. BOTH places would see a reduction in violent crime if they allowed law-abiding citizens the right to carry firearms. As I recall, the area of London around the Palace and Washington around the Whitehouse are better parts of their respective cities. 18. Do you have problem with people preparing for emergencies, even though it is unlikely one will happen? Do you believe people should be able to decide for themselves how to prepare for the worst case scenario? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  19. "Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you..." You make your judgment, let him make his, and we'll all be ok. Did anyone say they don't feel safe without a gun at hand? I like having options, but that doesn't mean I can't get through the day without a platoon of Marines at my beck and call. (hell, I go through most days in New Jersey severely limited in my options for self defense because of legislators whose bodyguards I must pay for) witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

  21. The idea is that the circumstances of the act dictate whether or not it was rape, not what you decide at a later date. You can't change your mind afterwards and affect the legal definition, no matter which way you change it. You can sleep with someone willingly and then decide you didn't want to, but you gave consent so it wasn't rape. You can be made to have sex unwillingly, and then decide afterwards that it wasn't so bad, but you didn't consent so it was rape. Fetishes and fantasies and whatever else involve two willing (read consenting) parties, even if one is agreeing to give up free will. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  22. Unless drugged, drunk, or otherwise incapacitated. Here's a simple concept: no consent = Rape. Do you disagree? Factually incorrect. No, instead there can be a pregnancy for her which he is financially responible for supporting. Should that be the legal standard for women, as well? If not, what legal justification can you offer for treating violated citizens differently? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  23. Wouldn't "driveby" be a more appropriate analogy? But don't get me started about the idiocy in California politics. Have you heard about the new state level ammunition bill, SB 357? http://cbs5.com/localwire/localfsnews/bcn/2005/04/27/n/HeadlineNews/GUN-BILL/resources_bcn_html http://releases.usnewswire.com/GetRelease.asp?id=46503 It'd serve them right to pass it and have all ammunition manufacturers pull out of California and refuse to sell to anyone there, including government and law enforcement. (most manufacturers wouldn't have a choice either way; there's no way they could afford that) witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  24. You can see the prolem with them, I just wish you could see the benefits. (they're much bigger than cheap fun plinking on weekends) It is the other half of a cost-benefit analysis. You have to consider the benefits. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  25. Bill, a "steel lattice outer door" isn't that big an obstacle. It's better than not, but hardly "unbreakable." The real obstacle is the solid door behind your storm door. And you can get a nice pump gun for under two hundred dollars. Hell, that sounds good to me. Now if only you could get the anti-gunners to go along with that, you'll never have to read another gun debate thread. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
