  1. I was kinda afraid to scare the 'straights' and the post hoes but WTF I think their are a couple of nixers out there. "Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce.
  2. www.icaruscanopies.com has the best info about cross bracing read about FX and VX and pay atention to 'distortion'. www.bigairsportz.com will have a very good explanation about airlocks. remember, there are a lot of opinions in this forum some of them strong....I own one airlocked and two cross braces and like them all.
  3. Grip and cD paranoia. search www.freshmeat.net. CD paranoia can make repairs in small scratches or skips, by interpolating between the missing data (repair the music not the CD for the post hoes that might be reading.) ramon "Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce.
  4. From the team that flies as great as its name. ramon "Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce.
  5. Here is a pic from a cool easy little dive you can try. We organized this early the other morning with Nikolai, Dennis and Nick. That is Levin building the 3rd Level by docking (me video). Launch a three way round, two RW people join to a 2 way and the third grabs chest straps and then goes in to a stand, very easy fun and the rW folks get a kick out of them. Get one or 2 freefliers to build a Y or a round on the rW folks. Next you can build bigger ones good luck ramon "Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce.
  6. I didn't.. And you didn't when I spotted... ramon "Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce.
  7. Botched cross country everyone landed in same field. "Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce.
  8. I've found my vengeance to stay in a dive more than a samurai also, but I think a really good samurai pilot at the same wingloading might out swoop me. I have also found it easier to shut down...then again I've only put a weekend on the samurai and my vengeance has ~200 on it. funny thing, I bought a VX and I am selling my FX (also a very good canopy at 2.0) and keeping the vengeance 135 cuz I like it so much. ramon "Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce.
  9. We got FFL competion at Spaceland this weekend. Get focused and PM me about when you can do it, We gotta see who we can get to video and see if we can afford to pull Trent out of the gears store for our free round. After we kick major butt I'm going back to Sky Dive Houston to Spread the Love and flail with the ball ramon "Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce.
  10. I saw a video where Hook did a high altitude hop n pop on an FX 70 and yes he was doing riser maneuvers front and maybe rear. (His brake lines were probably quite loose so he was not deflecting his tail during front riser maneuvers) and he was wearing a belly cam. He did many riser turns and dives and in several instances was travelling extremely fast through thinner layers of atmosphere. His tail fluttered a little bit in video..during some of the high speed flying. I am thinking possibly turbulence induced by the low pressure zone behind the wing. These wings are not perfect and they are flexible. ???Quade?? "Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce.
  11. Took me a whole weekend to learn the flare on one at about 1.5. I am not so sure bumping the brakes is actually meant to be really abrupt. Being smooth is the name of the game, but ins some instance like if you are ever so slightly steep, you can have a very smooth input to change the angle of attack on the canopy. with sufficient speed you can then follow up with a slight let off of the brakes to full flight but slighlty more nose up attititude. There is a very good shot of JC Coclosure doing this on a stilleto on the Freefly millinium II tape. that is probably the best description of an actual 2 stage flare. he is getting very low over a ditch and he bumps the toggles right before his foot scrapes the water, as he sinks more and his foot begins to skim and his canopy adopts a higher lift attitude he lets up on his toggles slighlyt to allow a good airfoil shape to increase his surf. The thing is I only get away with them if I am ever so slightly low (not at the point where I need to dig out of the corner, just not planed out yet) and going very fast. Ideally you will pull out of your recovery arc at a high rate of speed with little or no toggle input and very smooth controlled flaring will keep you going. My friend Wane's first eliptical was a samurai. He was the only person that could surf it and shut it down. In the long run the very smooth technique he learned on that canopy paid off as he went on a downsize frenzy (not necessarily a good idea) and his flaring technique was such that he was landing very small canopies smoothly. Not being smooth on a small canopy will either bleed so much speed that you wil have a much shorter surf or in the worse case could cause a dynamic stall. remember, opionins are like assholes ramon "Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce.
  12. I'll be there July 3rd and 4th playing till I go to SDH. Let's jump
  13. sorry. I'll still be around..some time. "Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce.
  14. which is a spalshing competition at SLAND. I can maybe be there for 1 day. r "Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce.

  16. Ya'll rock. I think I've been on about 6 attempts that did not go that good, and I have been on every position. ramon "Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce.
  17. You know where I'm going... SDHouston I think we are going to create non-stop load organizing for all skill levels. You should come by. "Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce.
  18. Well...I have been given an offer with some friends to organize freefly loads, boogies, swoop splashdowns and fun stuff at a new DZ. I am going to miss my friends I have made over the past 2 years, but what do you do? Is it greedy because I will improve my skills and at the same time help others and help a DZ create a 'new exciting thing'? It was so hard for me to tell anyone, I didn't tell anyone (except 2 friends) at my old DZ yet. Should I be ahsamed, I didn't work at my home dZ I was just a fun jumper, but I feel like a traitor. The other DZ (I have friends there too) need help from us, we can change things for them I know it. What would you do? Ramon "Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce.
  19. You are right. There is a change in the sport and it is like a mad fever to downsize. suddenly people off student status are 1.3 etc... It is so common place and there are so many 100 jump experts telling newbies what to buy (or 800 jump newbie instructors with all their jumps in the last year). We really do have a responsibility each an every one of us to give our true opinion, and if you've been to the BIC maybe youcan give it without hurting feelings.
  20. Hey Sanchez... Hare are you?
  21. You don't un-leran RW skills, but perhaps more succintly stated you try to loose RW habits that will affect freeflying...mainly arching while head down. If I were you I would make an effort to do an RW jump every now and then. It will make you a better all round skydiver and a more complete 3D flier. To be a truly 3D flier you have to fly on all axes (back, belly, feet, head). good luck ramon "Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce.

    hybrid hangers

that was out of a casa...apparently that is a really stable on e to do off the tailgate. "Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce.
  23. Basically you don't get over a formation if you don't have a wing suit. Good RW camera fliers will hover at the edge of the burble and use their wings if they slide in to a little burbly air. Just think If you landed on neck or head and the person did not have a cypres, it could have been really bad. ramon "Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce.
