Skygod , You are an instructor and you repeated what I suggested. My only point was that skipping a size is an additional risk when already being extremely aggressive. @1.8 it is really hard to not get injured when you have to turn low to avoid an unseen item. And jump numbers come in to play when making quick decisions. Now I have known at least one pilot that became a jumper and downsized like crazy (velocity at 200 jumps) and now has 1000 jumps. He never got so much as dirty, but he was already an accomplished pilot (100s of flying hours before skydiving) and understood flight much to the chagrin of all the local jumpers that rode his ass. The only people I am jealous of two of my friends, Eric Butts (top 10 PPB) and Josh Hill (came in 1st and 2nd recent PPB), and they both know when to take an out. peace ramon "Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce.

Your first canopy was a crossfire loaded at 1.34 (based on your numbers). you have gained wt and now load at 1.44. if you are 215 lbs out the door 139 loads at 1.55 135 loads at 1.59 120 loads at 1.79. I understand that you may be really heads up and your S&TA may have a lot of confidence in you. I don't recommend downsizing to a 120 especially an older ground hungry canopy loaded at close to max wing loading. I know jumpers will do what they want (like I did, although I listened to everything I was told..when I am told I am turning low I go back to the drawing board). If you have your heart set on downsizing don't make such a big jump, why not just drop 10 ft and do it on a better canopy. remember...the waythings are going we will continue to see lots of incidents from low turns (intentional low ones) until dropzones up the ante and begin some sort of self regulation. be careful... .might I recommend a vengeance or a cobalt, they both have light riser pressure and fly big peace ramon "Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce.

I hope your jump numbers are out dated. I was very aggressive under canopy (almost maimed myself at 220 jumps at 1.5) at Zennie's Dz (spaceland rocks). not my business, but there are better canopies to load that high..and you shouldn't be jumping them anyway at that loading. jeeze, get a bigger crossfire or cobalt. a friend of mine died at a lower wingloading than that and with more than twice the jumps, you think your speed racer??? disclaimer... you jump it once then you go back and pratice on other shit....I forgive you...

If you come to SDHouston have me (I've been taking a lot of landing pictures) or Eric Butts (super swoopie cobalt dude) or another canopy person come watch. I suspect slight nervousness and not completing the flare to be major culprits.

means a lot more more than a stupid AD #. good job dude......

In the days after 9/11 one private aircraft was allowed to fly across the US while airspace was still closed. Know who was in it? Bin Laden family members. Bush gave permission to evacuate them out of the country for their own safety (he had a few millionaire family members in US). Bush did.......not the FBI or NSA. Gee when a crime is committed here...like a murder....the cops usually want to at least talk to the family members...ask like .."do you know where he is..etc" ramon "Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce.

Rich I am impressed. I wish more people would see around all the BS. Most republicans (even if they are below the poverty line) tend to support his BS anyway, and or say something ignorant like ,'well do you think Gore would do a better job?' (which has nothing to do with anything especially when comparing an idiot to a crook)

Eric Butts said that was your nick name and I wasn't going to argue...... Can't go to Dallas ($) and I figure you guys won't really need me with all the talent that will be there (and there will be no shortage of cameras). Good luck though, I hope you get everyone docked. ramon (aka "Brian's shitlist", aka "Dirty Rat") GRat #39 "Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce.

not for a team though I was asked by a team going to nationals (and was passed over in favor of a full time RW videographer, though I am asked to sub on odd weeknds). I wrote too fast... I think I was trying to convey that the flying skills for the 4-way team itself are more demanding than the videographers flying skills (he has other duties, keeping cameras working, lugging video equipment, learning the exits and having good timing. flame away I am a freeflier I don't have wings and I can video 4 way reasonably well. now..8 way 16 way....err....well I have no doubt it is a whole different skill set.

I saw you miss your knees by about 2" on Saturday when you jumped out after the small hybrid. I forgot to tell you. ramon "Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce.

sometimes 5 grand is 3500 when your doing a hop n pop. sorry... usually if you are student, working on spotting the intructor makes sure you get 5 ish. If you are worried about a cloud or need extra alititude you can always ask the pilot.... sometimes their cool...sometimes the DZO is grumpy about hop n pops (they are cheap where I jump $8) and so he wants minimum altititude unless you ask...

thanks. today sucked. I may try and get Ted ans do them during the week some time,. r "Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce.

that is a good idea but I do have to accomodate the guys that have really big canopies to make it a fun thing with lots of participation. I might actually do your suggestion with out much planning though for like 4-5 actual swoopers... "Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce.

Any one have a good idea for swoop and chug rules that would...say add points or subtract time for length of swoop to make up for time spent getting to beer can. this is to give a fighting chance to swoopers vs the guy with the accuracy canopy that should win all hit n chugs... thanks ramon. At 1.5 on an alpha, if I leaned really hard, I could percieve some sort of turning happening (same on vengeance at 1.7), pretty much mostly useless. In all of the canopies I have jumped it did not become noticible enough to be annoying if my leg straps were not even till 2.0 on an FX. More so on a velocity. Me and anyone who else jumps a VX will tell you it can dive without touching the toggles or the risers. "Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce.

Sabah Ilkheer (good day) marhab (hi) Al salaam walaikum (peace be with you) Salaam (short for above said when leaving) ok...the joke, arabs think this is funny if said in english. the parenthisi are notes not part of the joke There once was this sheik (pronounced Shake). He wanted to get married. He told his assistant to proclaim to the kingdom that he was looking for a wife with a large mouth. the proclamation went out and all the women said , "LAAAAAAAAA?" (say this with your mouth open it means 'NO?') The Sheikh met various women and then changed his mind. He told his assitant to proclaim that he like women with small mouths. The proclamation went out and all the women said, "shooooooo?" (say with small mouth, means what?) ramon "Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce.

1 it is really easy so the 4 way team actually uses more skill, however missing points because video guy screwed up or exited early/late screws the whole team. 2. If local teams are serious (going to nationals) they usually pay the vieographers slot. and that videographer is expected to have back up gear in case of failure (cameras, rigs). 3. fun teams...anything goes. 4. freefly teams (3 way) usually the vidoegrapher has so much work to do as far as fall rate and artisitc camera angles that they are actual team members. RW video guys are easy to pick up, you can find them sitting around at nationals looking for teams
