  1. Not stirring the pot, but, I did jump a competition cobalt 120 (loaded about 1.9) Butz's green and Black one. It was very nice. flat glide, soft risers, nice opening, easy to fly and swoop. I could probably replace both my FX109 and vengeance 135 with one as it seemed to do the job of both (fly like a bigger one swoop like a smaller one) for when I don't want to jump the VX (good swooper poor skydiving canopy) But that's just what I think. 2. ohh just one of those? I was hoping it was something radical or new from Icarus not an 'x-VX'. "Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce.
  3. What is a modified VX? hmmm.... "Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce.
  4. Little big for my modem. I'll check it out at work tomorrow from my t1. sweet dreams r "Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce.
  5. You are soo. right. Getting a senator to write a letter to your division commander/jag officer/battalion commander can make something happen. I have seen it in action when a national guardsman was not getting paid correctly... 5 months of nothing...letter..shit hitting fan and rolling down hill followed by staff people bending over backwards tosee that soldier got what was owed. Could backfire in certain situation I guess, but in this case the chain of command was behind the soldier and the staff people were doing nothing..until.. 6. What else would you do if someone told you? Do you like to be told what to do? Sounds like a lack of discipline (crack goes the cat o' 9 tails). j/k "Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce.
  7. 180s are good because it is an easy set up to orient in your mind. I do a carving 90 from abut 500' making corrections for my heading (ditch accuracy) then get a steeper 90 as I get more in my lane. Like a 2 stage 180. Be careful, know when to NOT go big there will be other swoops.
  8. Your pictures kick ass. Wane was stoked to see them on the website. Hey when Chuck Blue comes down maybe he and Eric will have a pond party for you. "Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce.
  9. you might want to post that in the camera group it is probably very difficult to belly fly with one wing also... r "Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce.

    CD writer help???

I received a CD (imation 24 x 700mb) from a client with Databases on it. My CD ROM will not see the CD, neither will our CD writers (Plexwriter 12/10/32s says invalid CD) and I have put it on a couple of different other CD ROMS also. It does say there is 325 meg free space. Any ideas I am not a hardware guy? thanks in advance ramon "Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce.
  12. I agree with most everything you say and I was in the military 10 years and was involved in 'intelligence'. In fact I resigned 6 years ago and they won't let me totally go because of it. "Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce.

  14. and.. he had Scud missles that could reach Israel in 1991. He still had some after the war. It is no easy feat to make longer range ones. They pretty much have to be bought from the US or Russia. Lies propogated by the policy makers. Donald Rumsfeld "Iraq expelled the inspectors." (he has been saying this over and over, they left on their own to avoid getting hit by british planes. 17. find a business proposal someone is working on. Do a global replacement of " the " with " the goddamn " or " a " with " a fucking ". Save it then go to lunch. have fun..here is an example... Company name is a fucking privately held joint venture between company name1 and company name2 whose employees have provided Process Industry solutions since 1988. The goddamn company name Process Industries group has a fucking full time Quality Engineer responsible for administering the goddamn company name quality guidelines for each project. 18. 1st lesson: I was reminded during a ball jump that getting too relaxed will cause you to change fall rate and that you have to stay totally focused on fall rate (if your big like me) to tap the ball back and forth with out sinking or floating. Bushism

Ha ha ha what a freaking loser. why are they all so stupid these days. I guess all the smart ones are behind the scenes telling them how to run things. "Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce.
  20. (think I have about 60 jumps on it now) the vX opens softer than my fX (one hard opening packed by someone that rarely packs for me). rear risers are really twitchy, like no travel before the canopy freaks ( I won't be using them). I had a vilent spinner with only one twist and I also had about 4 twists that flew straight when I made my slinks even. That canopy is sensitive (I must have gained weight...) Took me a while to get used to diving from 500+ feet and forcing my self to not be aggressive if I was lower than that. Just recently I have been getting some really long surfs (I jump at Skydive houston now about 250' long ditch). I think I can get "dirt water dirt" if I set up right ( this weeknd I did about 3/4 of it and then over shot it about 50 '..soo it was long). My FX is getting re-lined. I may put the VX back in the closet when my FX 109 gets here so I can really get some more experience on my FX..or I might sell it. who knows, but I do like the VX and what they say is true, it is totally different than the FX. thanks ramon P.S. I think it was made in New Zealand or Spain (it was not made by precision) and as such none of the seams are coming apart like they were on my FX "Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce.
  21. Hey Chris. How do you like your VX replacement? ramon "Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce.
  22. I think he was alluding to "acts of terror" done by Israel. ref: UN resolutions to declare Israel a terrorist state (vetoed by US). Since the intifada started it has been pretty much each side taking turns killing. "Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce.
  23. same point ..good info though Well the killing of civilians did not originate with explosives but with blades etc a long time ago. You are right, my bad, some terrorists are maoist (shining path), or anti-establishment (Revolutionary nuclei, IRA, and the ETA) or just weird (aum shinryikyo, Revolutionary United Front, Lords Resistance Army). Hezbollah (shiite) has attacked westerners for "imperial support of zionism" and "anti muslim activities". Turkish "Hizbollah" (unrelated) is Sunni though.... You are right I got that statistic off a very slanted article. Yes there was an old territorial claim to Kuwaut and Did not Iraq claim a debt owed to it by Kuwait for helping to finance the war against Iran (fundamentalism, the US also provided wepons for this war). Like 10 or 12 billion $. I was under the impression that King Hussein of Jordan (thought to be sympathetic to the West, by Arabs I talked to) also supported him in this claim of debt. I've never heard this before. Can you explain a little further? It is thought that the overthrow of Abdul Kassim in 1963 by the Baath part was done with the aid of the CIA to overthrow "leftist intellectuals" , purges left Sadaam in power and supposedly 5000 dead. Where did you get this information from? The US does not sell nerve agent even to our allies. I also never knew that Iraq killed any Kurds with nerve agent. All of the reports I read cited blood and blister agents but no nerve agents. When attacking civilians nerve agent would be overkill and a waste of an expensive weapon. I attached a copy of a blister agent victim from the Kurd attacks. Nerve gas causes no burns. Sarin was identified in 1995 as used on the kurds. Blister agent is cheap (phosgene or Chlorine gas), anyone can get those. Often it is mixed with nerve agent. Sadaam did drop plenty of mustard gas on the kurds too but ingredients for Sarin must come from Western labs and export must be approved. Why are you ignoring the threats that Iraq poses to our soldiers and interests overseas? obviously al qaeda is/was a greater threat to our troops overseas. than Sadaam hiding behind a no fly zone and economic sanctions. If humanitarian reasons were the real reasons we did things I don't think the rest of the world would hate us so much. I know Sadaam was a prick, but we liked him just fine till he invaded Kuwait "Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce.
  24. forced meaning...forced (demo or injury)..i.e don't jump or upsize 100 feet and jump... Upsize ...duh... ramon "Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce.
  25. on my VX 97 (loaded at 2.2 ... distance buddy..heh heh) with a hard snap 180 done at ~550-500 the risers get pulled out of my hands and I surf at ideal, safe altitude. If I start a gradual carve then get steep at the end I could start at 700' ( I find my self low when I am not at the right place and I start gradual and then delay getting steep..weird..totally dependent on high airspeed on this canopy) I have seen my friend wane start his turn on a Xaos 80 from ~800 feet(estimated by pilot) and continue to correct his dive with riser input where my VX/FX risers would have been useless he is loaded about 2.3. My friend Levin can turn his FX 74from about 750' and do a 'death spiral 540' (loaded about 2.2, this is totally impossible on my FX 109 at 2.0 it likes 400' maybe 50 more if gradual carving and can only do a 180-270 with good control) I think it depends on the canopy , the size and the loading. Xaos's have light pressure, Fx and VX very heavy. The smaller the canopy the lighter that pressure is respectively at a given wingloading (i.e 2.0 on a 110 is not same as 2.0 on a 75). loading up a small canopy will in general make it want to dive longer. hooknswoop would start his hooks very high (600ish i think) do a hard 180 and dive like mad then plane out. He was loaded at 3.1. at that loading on a small VX 60 he If he so wanted might be able to put a gradual maneuver that he would start at 1000 feet. On a 'light riser canopy like a Xaos, it seems to reason that a very small one loaded highly would be capable of continuing diving maneuvers at high altitude. Of course It could depend on what your definition of the word "DIVE" is. "Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce.
