    Different headwinds. Besides, even if Moore was an incredible delight at parties, always volunteered for the base, and just loved buying a round he is still the wrong color to be Harris' wingman. The nation would much prefer an orange fraud and felon or a doddering old fool than two people of color on a presidential ticket with a female at the top. If no one else has noticed, let me help: this nation is going in societal acceptance reverse. DEI is a pejorative term, ask Brent, but then I know you know that.

    It was staged to keep him from fucking up names (didn't work) and listing his every thought numerically (worked a little). Anyway, for me no biggie. I'd be happy if the ghost of Christmas past was horse whispering to him through earbuds if that got it done.

    Too late for someone too unknown. Most people won't read an email for comprehension much less a must read a book about a potential VP candidate. I'm back on the Biden train because no one has convinced me of a viable path to someone else and the clock is ticking, as ever.

    Jerry, With great respect that is why I haven't been pulled fully into the Joe Must Go camp. No one, even the most fervent proponents, has been able to articulate who that might be and how it would happen. As I've said, Harris would need to bow out gracefully either by resigning as VP (and be very publicly supportive to the point of insisting it was her idea) so Biden can fill the slot with a moderate white male from the rust belt like Sherrod Brown and then resign. But that ain't happening. Harris is a close as she's ever going to get and she will be not scorned and go quietly into the night. Hence, bad as it is we need to stay with the date we brought to the party, seems to me. Oh, also, I don't think I can get comfortable with this Joe Must Go stuff.

    And that choice would be? Not a list, someone you believe would take the VP slot and pull the support.

    I also think there is still time. Seems to me that all Biden needs to do is say he's not accepting the nomination but will be serving out his term. The hard part is not throwing his support behind Harris but that has so many negative outcomes it's hard to count. I think he knows that and that is a big factor in his decision to stay in the race. So it seems to me the only real exit scheme is not seeking the nomination and throwing his support behind Harris. Are you good with that?

    I wouldn't put it that way, but I can see how some might. Women have never been this close to being in the oval office. As Ginzburg showed, selfishness isn't the sole purview of men. Harris would need to bless any change that doesn't include being blessed as the heir apparent in a believable and very public way. The people who believe that she'd just go along with it to be a trooper are kidding themselves. She doesn't want Biden to not run. Her preferences are 1. he resigns and 2., that he runs, wins, and then by any useful expedient is caused to vacate the office. That's my read.

    I'm afraid you're right, it's the only thing the people who are paying attention now will think about. No one who was an early adopter of the "joe must go" mantra is likely to change their view, that's just human nature. As more join the chorus more will feel right about joining the choir, also just human nature.

    Nah, Ken is no economist and now he's backtracking on his likelihood claim, and should. My point was simple: in a political day and age of fat thumbs there are more fat thumbs that might find the scale. The Fed is just one.
