Phrase it: what is the national good when a nations citizens don’t live past 12 years old and the picture develops. Nations, these days, are lines on maps; good or bad or how the inhabitants confined within those lines are treated are different ideas. I might move from one nations borders to another’s for a better life’s experience, and like you I have that right and preference, but the fact of any other nations existence isn’t really relevant.

We’re talking past each other. When I think “Nation” I’m not including the inner workings that may or may not benefit its inhabitants who may or may not have an official agency like citizenship. As it turns out, the more inhabitants there are the greater the need for a hierarchy there is, hence the gifting of agency and benefits. Nations throughout history haven’t necessarily treated all of their inhabitants with the utmost courtesy as a requirement for continued existence or expansion of their territories. The Great Khans, the Roman Emperors, and Borg One of One must all have had notional difference’s with we moderns on the concept of a nation.

No, it’s not the same thing. You didn’t say anything useful; you just tossed out a straw man and then supported it with a ridiculous proposition, to wit, that a nations best interest is looking after its rulers yada, yada, yada. Dude, you are so out of touch with the world it beggars description. You play the “kids” card like you have any idea about kids. You don’t. Today we had a great time with kids. At around 11AM they started paddling past our boat (think spaceship) in dugout canoes on their way to school. School here is six days a week 12 till 5. On the way home they had time to stop and talk in a few different languages and share their days. It was amazing again today and will be for more days. They were all kneeling in dugout canoes with a few inches of water in the bottom telling us what they learned that day. Later an adult offered us the chance to visit the school. Tomorrow we will. Nothing teaches you more about the world or yourself than travel. You need to get out.

Just to get reprimanded for thread drift, those of us with direct access to the economy through customers learned a little bit about trickle up economics when the Covid stimulus money was flooding into our tills. Poor people spend, mostly because they have too. So when I hear about what for me would be a barely noticeable pinprick that will put money into my potential customers pockets I have a hard time getting my panties in a wad.

You’re probably right that he is a symptom, too, but I think it’s fairer to state that folks who think like him are the problem. They vote, buy stupid and unneeded firearms providing support and succor to a predatory industry, give money to the pandering demagogues who dutifully promise only more guns and easier access for all who so desire, and sit on their couches watching Fox type news convinced that only thoughts and prayers or more guns are viable reactions. To my mind that adds up to them being the actual problem.

Your argument is not just ridiculous but it also lacks an even passing attempt at taking a larger view. The bottom line here is that we now, thanks to folks like you and Brent and the NRA, live in a country where armed speech trump's free speech. You have plenty of reason to fly commercially: that’s how you get to the countries you are fond of discussing here, including making up names for their leaders as if you were familiar.
