No problem, Don. Yup, I'm still slinging students at Skydive Hinton and loving it. Great DZ, better people, with an ultra-fast Cessna 205. In summer and winter, the indoor packing is quite nice. I'm there about two weeks a month, the other two weeks I'm either at Skydive Dallas in the summer or hitting the DZ's near Houston (Aggieland / Skydive Houston). That's the nice thing about Oklahoma, when it's freezing and ice on the ground, there's warm weather only a few hours away. Yup, I had an officer turn on his lights, pull a 180 and get behind me. After I stopped and he came up to the window he apologized for pulling me over which he did because he didn't see any registration / inspection stickers on my windshield and no front tag which is why he pulled me over. The reason he didn't see them is that we don't have front plates in OK, our tag expiration is on the actual tag, and we don't have vehicle inspection so there's another sticker I don't need on my windshield. Maybe your PC, but many times I'd rather watch DVDs on my PC then the sorry excuse of an entertainment center my roommate has in the living room. Better video, bigger sounds, fuller sounds, bigger more solid bass...the list could go on... Don't go there, Dave. I was really happy with my home theatre. I'm running a nice digital-ready 32" TV, Sony ES-555 home theatre receiver, Sony progressive-scan DVD, with Eosone speakers and a Velodyne sub. I thought I was doing good until I saw Todd's rig when we went to his place to watch the Rantoul DVD I brought. I was actually in Ultimate Electronics today seriously thinking about shelling out for a set of Definitive speakers after hearing his, even though his bass was a little weak. But, that's what a dedicated sub is for... And I need to figure out a way to load his theatre-wide HDTV into my Hyundai Tiburon next trip out without him or Kathy noticing. Crap. 90% of the time, that won't work. On most video cards, video is sent directly to the frame-buffer on the video card. It saves a lot of processing power because all the OS has to do is tell the card where (X,Y) on the monitor to place the video, what size to scale it to, and then let it flow. If you try to do a print-screen, you'll usually end up with a black or pink background where the video should be. How to get around this: some video player software will have a frame/screen-capture button that will hit the buffer on the card and pull the current frame into regular memory so it can be saved as a picture file. I can definitely see doing that, but wouldn't it be better to build the muscle memory for what you'll actually need to use when flying with others? One thing that really discouraged me when trying to make the cartwheel transition from sit to HD was that I was never able to lock it. I would always over or under rotate. Then I realized I was trying to just crank out the transition too fast. I spent several jumps doing it in "slo-mo" and it really helped me feel how the wind was hitting my body during the transition and how to use it to complete it. Well, my usual triggers are red wine, chocolate and if I have beer and chocolate within 5-6 hours of each other that's just asking for trouble. I don't get them too often but it picks up a lot when during the big season changes from warm to winter and from winter to warm. Fiorcet and Imitrex are my true friends. I think I'll hold out on having surgery. And, every once in a while, I do like to frown (not that often). Hmmm...sounds a lot like my Stiletto. There are times when I just clear the line-groups from the tail, make sure the slider is against the stops (what's quartering?), and trash it into the d-bag. The openings are soft and on-heading. The very few times I have had a harder opening I would call them brisk, not hard. I have deployed my Stiletto in a track and in a sit. It's amazing that your instructors are psychic and know exactly how you'll feel about flying a 190 & 170 canopy before you do. I recommend trying a 170 for a while to see how you like it. You can always find a 150 later if you decide that's what you want. But I recommend that you stay away from a 1.25 or higher wing-loading. You can't always be conservative and something may happen. That 20-40 extra feet of fabric over your head that a 170 or 190 will give you may make the difference between simply getting dirty or getting everyone to sign your cast. Remember, nobody who has faced a bad landing ever wished, "You know, if I only had 20 less feet of canopy over my head..." It is absolutely reprehensible to even think about doing what you did to a low-timer. If your profile is correct, you also had no business flying HD around a newbie when you have less than 400 jumps. If you were at my DZ, you'd still be talking and trying to convince the S&TA to not call the USPA about your license before you were kicked off the DZ permanently and other local DZ's called to tell them about your 'antics'.
