Nope, but I am her salad pimp. I even make her eat it with tweezers, too. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

The Scorpion and the Fox A scorpion was walking along the bank of a river, wondering how to get to the other side. Suddenly he saw a fox, he asked the fox to take him on his back across the river. The fox said "no, if I do that you'll sting me and I'll drown." The scorpion assured him, "if I did that we'd both drown." So the fox thought about it and finally agreed. The scorpion climbed up on his back and fox began to swim. But half way across the river, the scorpion stung him. As the poisen filled his veins, the fox turned to the scorpion and said, "why did you do that, now you'll drown too." "I couldn't help it," said the scorpion, "it's my nature." I'll be in San Marcos on Friday to get some coaching action. Brains, I expect to see a case Friday night for your first BirdMan jump. Good thing I did my first one yesterday. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Of course you haven't! That's what you get for warning the lil' guy. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

True dat. My first rig was a used Talon (not the Talon2). It was a great rig, but if someone giving me a pin-check didn't know what they were doing I would end up with my main flap open in freefall. Walrus teeth are tricky for people who aren't used to them. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Next weekend, I promise. I was in such a hurry to make it to the DZ I didn't even remember to bring a camera. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Oh how I wish that were true here. I live in Oklahoma....the state that trains meteorologists from all over the country. When Gary England on channel 9 says it's going to rain hellfire & brimstone you had better be stocked up on holy water. Sigh. The wind is already screaming past the window of my house. 80:3:1 *Puts on Ministry's 'Just One Fix'* 80mph first time out in my new smacky-booty BirdMan GTi. This. Thing. ROCKS!!! It's like nothing I've ever done before. I fully appreciate why it's called Nylon-Crack(tm) now!!! I did two regular skydives and the case is for my first BirdMan jump. The weather is going to be hellish tomorrow so I have to wait a week to get my next fix in. Sigh. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

I'm getting pushed out tomorrow!
Kris replied to themitchyone's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Heh...he's getting off light. I've seen a student facing out of an Otter door, hands firmly grasped to his ankles, as his instructor lightly, but literally, booted him out for his instability dive. The guy spun twice, hit a hard arch, then was stable as a rock. He recoverd quick enough that I could still see it from where I was at in the plane. I just wish I got to do that to my IAD students. Get thee to http://www.skydivetulsa.com, ASAP! I haven't jumped there but I know several people who do. If the DZ is half as nice as the people populating it you can't go wrong. Also, Dale the DZO is a pretty nice chap. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Safer sub-terminal deployments question/pondering
Kris replied to jerry81's topic in Safety and Training
Opening at 2K on a hop n' pop is quite a bit different than deploying at terminal. As for snivelly canopies, my Stiletto usually takes 500-700 feet to open. On a hop n pop I'm usually in the saddle about 150 feet after exit. Granted, I pull in a smidge of rear-risers during the opening, but it still opens smoothly and softly. However, it's all about comfort level. Stick with what's comfortable for you at this point in your skydiving...barring emergency exits, of course. I have a reserve ride on a PD-176R loaded at 1.53:1. It flew and landed great. Easy standup on a hot, no-wind day. I think I had to take all of two steps on the landing. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Sigh...this is where I freely admit my "dumbassity". Last year, I lost my MindWarp with my ProTrack inside twice. In one week. Both times I found it. Both times, neither had a scratch on them. One time, the landing was on a hard-packed grass runway. My ProTrack is very durable but you can bet I always check my chin strap before going out the door now. 'Zactly. Even as an IAD instructor, I still land out in the student field and walk back in with my students. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Yup, Shoe Goo is good stuff. I just picked a tube of it up today from Wally World for about $3.50. I'll be using it to reinforce the booties on my BirdMan suit. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Tube Stows Who makes them and How do you tighten them
Kris replied to helldog's topic in Gear and Rigging
I'm pretty sure I've seen that before...on one of the cards that comes in the pack of Tube-Stoes. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™ -
Heh, no kidding, thanks. The only thing I really have a gripe with is the booties. The material seems a bit...weak. It's just some thin plastic. I went out to Wally World and bought some Shoe-Goo to put on them. Better safe then sorry. However, I am impressed that it has snaps on the hips to hook the legs up to for walking around. I thought I was going to have to do that mod myself. Very nice!

I'll put bigger pics up this weekend when I have access to a better camera and have my rig hooked into it. But, yeah, it's pretty shiny, isn't it? Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

My rig is at the DZ, so I won't know that until Friday night. It seems to have more than enough room though. BTW, here's the requested pics. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

And that would be me. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

It fits great! I was really worried about that part but it's fine. It's a little snug in the mid thigh but I'll have no problem wearing jeans underneath it. I'll have pictures up this evening as soon as I get home from work. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

IT'S HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Okay, so my co-workers are looking at me crazy because I'm sitting here in my cubicle typing this with my GTi on, but who cares? It's HERE!!!

Likewise. I'm not typing out the names of the 200+ of them I have. My Sony 300+1 DVD player keeps track of them nicely enough in its on-screen directory already. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
