  1. Holy Schmoly! It's my old jumpmaster...err...jumpmistress and her hubby! It's about time you and Alan made it around to gracing us with your presence. Welcome to the madhouse. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  2. I hear you, Jackie. Walked outside to go to work in a t-shirt and I was shivering when I had to go back out at noon. Hopefully it won't be too frosty for jumping in OK this weekend. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  3. If it was packed properly it should be just fine. It may open a tad slower but that's about it. As long as it isn't over 120 days since you last packed the main you can jump it with no problems. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  4. I'm not saying that you have to keep an eyeball locked on at all times, as long as you give the occasional glance, that's fine. It just raised an alarm bell with me because I *have* met people who treat their audibles as infallible devices.
  5. Start the roll at the top. You'll want to do a pencil-roll. Basically, you want to make it very tight and very small. 3-5 rolls should do it. Make sure you aren't pulling the slider into it. From there, use one hand to hold that roll and use your other hand to roll the rest of the tail normally. Keep a good grip on both rolls as you lay the canopy on the ground and you should be fine.
  6. That's the kind of thinking that gets people hurt, or worse. An audible is a backup to your altimeter which is a backup to your eyes. Personally, I have my audible set 500 feet below my planned breakoff and deployment altitudes. If I hear it before I have initiated those on my own then I have screwed up. Kris
  7. I'll pull in a little bit of rears if I want my Stiletto to finish snivelling quickly. I also do it on CRW hop-n-pop's with no problems. I apply even pressure and it only takes a little bit. Again, YMMV, this just happens to be how my Stiletto responds. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  8. Psycho-packing wasn't the cause of my Stiletto blowing up. PD found an issue with my Stiletto that had been there for quite a while waiting to bite me in the ass. And I can PRO-pack just fine, thank you. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

    It's nasty!

Ummm.....am I the only one twisted enough to be rolling in hysterical laughter here? Good luck on your quest, ValZilla. Kris
  10. Did you really think phree would give back the midget porn tape? Hey! Little people need lovin' too! Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  11. Dave, if people as a whole didn't have differences of opinion then we wouldn't have a tenth of the posts we do in these forums. They're here for different viewpoints to be discussed and hashed over. Difference of opinion or not, ask Don & Robin, I'll probably be the first guy to buy someone a beer after a good deabate. I don't take things like that personally. Besides, it'll just give me a chance to show you what a real on-heading deployment looks like with my psycho-packed Stiletto. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  12. Also, with only 3 jumps, you may have to wait a while until either an instructor gives you the go-ahead based on your canopy skills, or until you get your A-license. It'll give you something to look forward to. Enjoy the view but don't waste it. Hop-n-Pop's from altitude are a great way to give you time to really run your canopy through the wringer and have some fun while learning about how your canopy responds to different inputs.
  13. Heya, Dave. You know...I keep promising Don, Robin, and Greg G. that I'll make it out there one of these days. I guess it's time to follow through. Tell you what....tell Don & Robin that if the weather is jumpable weekend after this one I'll be there. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  14. No problem at all as long as you are aware of what the winds are doing and as long as you let manifest, the pilot, and the others on the load know what you are doing. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  15. Fooey. That's nothing but FUD. I've psycho-packed my Stiletto over 200+ times with no problems and I've done the same with my old Sabre and with a Crossfire2 demo. Off heading openings are the very rare exception for me. I'm sure PRO packing got flack from the flat packers when it was still new, too. If psycho-packing helps someone get a canopy into the bag easier then more power to them. Granted, it takes a little more finesse, but if done properly there's nothing wrong with it. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  16. Really? I have almost 150 sit fly jumps on my Mirage G3 and I've never had my legstraps slip and I don't have a bungee on mine and I have no desire to have one added to mine. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  17. That freedom ends when it jeopardizes the safety of others. If someone wants to do their impression of a Hefty-bag full of vegetable soup hitting the tarmac from a botched hook, that's their right. However, they don't have the right to endager me or others in the process. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  18. Speaking of reading wills.....where's the video I loaned you, Phree? Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  19. No...it looked like Phreezone fruit-looping a 4-way. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

  23. A Sharpie is what I use as well and I have had no problems. If it degrades the kill line, then oh-well. If the kill line breaks then I'm just stuck with a PC that won't collapse until I replace the spectra. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
