The posting status removal may just be a temporay thing. It looks like there's a lot of work being done to the site right now. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Supposedly, PD marks every single panel on the parachute with construction and S/N info. I'd be interested to find out if that's what those markings symbolize. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

This is Billvon we're talking about. He's sitting back in a leather hammock, drinking something with an umbrella in it, while nanobot assemblers (which he designed, and fabricated, and programmed) do all the work. Did I mention the two story Tesla coil on the other side of the room. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Great thread! This is me taking a student out for the jump right before his grad jump a couple of summers back. This was taken right on exit. Thankfully he started arching (after I shook him to remind him) right after this was shot. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

BUMP... did you or anyone else ever try this test? Unfortunately (or not, heh) the winds didn't get bad enough that weekend to follow through. However, at my house the next day, I took an old springloaded PC I had and threw it in 25+ MPH winds. The results were what I thought....it never caught much air, it fell to the gound, and just layed there. The wind just blew the mesh around a bit but not with any force. Sorry I don't have anything more official, but I still think that with a standard RSL the reserve isn't going to do anything but stay in the freebag. Cutting away a main on a SkyHook equipped rig is another animal entirely though. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Nice color choice Katie! I have the same thing on my GTi except the center panel is purple instead of black! HootyHoo!!! Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Oh, dude! Nice! I'll make it out to KS within the next month and we'll get your suit properly aired out! Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

1. If I use it I'll pay to get it repacked. The rig was my responsibility when I checked it out. 2. Depends upon the condition of the main. If it is overdue for a reline then I am not paying for it. Otherwise, I am. 3. Depends on the situation, but more than likely 'yes', especially if I packed it. 4. Yes 5. Yes. Whatever happened to, "Buy your ticket, take your chances."? People have no sense of personal responsibility anymore. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Then it looks like I won't be jumping out of your plane. You may be responsible for the passengers in your aircraft, but *I* am responsible for my own safety. Granted, you've got some jumps under your belt, but if you're flying, you're not seeing the same picture that I'm seeing when I'm looking out the door. I don't just go when the GPS or pilot tells me to, that kind of goes hand-in-hand with being responsible for myself. If I'm instructing students, I will make the decision as to where we get out. Your job is to get us there in a safe, professional manner, period. As another example, if a pilot has never made a birdman jump or isn't familiar with how exit-planning / spotting is done for that type of jump then he will have to take his spotting cue's from me. Anyone else have a problem with this? Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

An axe to a Civic? I could put a deck & 4 speakers into a civic in less than 30-minutes when I was in my prime. Another good set of sites is www.the12volt.com and the forums at Sound Domain.

When an RSL pulls the reserve, it leaves a pretty ugly kink in the reserve cable. A cutaway puts a lot of force on that cable via the RSL. Firing your reserve by pulling the normal handle won't kink the cable. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

IAD is what is used at my DZ. I like it much more that S/L. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

it's 500 jumps or 200 jumps in the last 12 months. Currency and comfort in the air are key. A wingsuit is a busy skydive and there are several ways you can get yourself in trouble. Honestly, I don't think anyone under at least 100 jumps is mentally switched on enough during a skydive to add that much into the mix. Any BMI's wanna' add anything to that? Stay away from detergent. I hope you don't have any white on your cells. The bath is a good start, you'd probably do better to go take a shower with the canopy so you can work on getting that muck out of the cells. Once that's done, then go to the bath and start swishing it around. Keep going until the water drains clear. Fill, swish, drain. Once the lines are clean, daisy chain them and leave them hanging over the edge of the tub and just work on the canopy. Also, don't just hang it up inside to dry it. Either put it outside somewhere where it will get no sun but plenty of breeze, or if you have to do it indoors, grab plenty of fans to help dry it out. Mold is the enemy you want to stay away from right now. This is how one of our jumpers took care of a muddy Xaos and it worked like a champ. If you canopy has Spectra lines, make sure you keep track of the trim. If I'm not mistaken, Spectra can change trim when it gets wet, along with the load tapes on the canopy itself. He didn't take your side. You're still wrong on the deployment stages in regards to what is supposedly "proper". You would do well to listen more and talk less at this stage in your skydiving, Scott. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Because it's not as common as the other models. 2330's are rare in the US, they're more commonly used in Europe. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
-
Yes, just like when you stack the two 2330's that you are supposed to use. The ProTrack uses two stacked batteries. It calls for two 2330's, but you can use a 2335 + 2325. Hell, you can even use two 2325's and put a nickle in-between them to act as a shim. As long as you get the thickness, you're okay. Those class batteries all have the same voltage.

This. Is. Awesome! http://www.angryalien.com/0204/exorcistbunnies.html Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
-
Bah! In that 2330 number designation, the 23 is the diameter and the 30 denotes thickness. Two 2330's give you a thickness of 60. Get a 2335 and a 2325 (35+25=60) from Radio Shack and you'll be just fine.

It's when the PC (or canopy lines) gets caught on the jumper or when the PC is still in the pouch but the pin has been pulled and the bag is extracted. The latter is the most common scenario. It's called a horseshoe because you now have the bag & lines trailing while they are connected to the risers and to the PC pouch (or your body). This is also known as the only malfunction that gives me cold sweatsm but it is a malfunction that can be 99.999% fully avoided with proper gear maintenance. Personally, if I have a horseshoe I will try twice to clear the PC or caught lines. Once the PC is cleared, you may have a baglock or unrecoverable line-twists. If I can't clear the PC (or lines) I will cutaway then go for my reserve and hope it clears the mess. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

I'll have to add another vote for Run Lola Run. Absolutely fantastic flick!!! Killing Zoe isn't a "true" foreign film, but it's damn close. Eric Stoltz is great in this one. Set in Paris. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
