ummm....damn, tuna. Yeah, that did come off a bit bitter. I have had two long-term relationships within the last 10 years and neither of them cheated on me. Nor was there any question at all as to the amount of trust and integrity in the relationship. Both were absolutely wonderful women whom I loved dearly and trusted completely. My rig looks a little puffy anyway, since I have a Stiletto 190 in a Mirage designed to hold a 170 tight. Having said that however...it's really not that bad. I psycho-pack and I do the roll pretty wide and very tight so it still looks slim no matter how I rotate the bag. In my case, it's all in the pack job. I have never tried packing grommet to BOC so I can't comment on that. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Why do gear manufactures promise a date that they can't deliver on
Kris replied to CanuckInUSA's topic in Gear and Rigging
I had the same good experience. Mirage had my rig to me within 10 working days, no rush fee. And it was an off the wall color pattern with all options, too. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™ -
I've got the mods on my Mirage G3, along with the 9' bridle and I pack grommet to pin. I've had it that way for over 80 non BirdMan jumps and have never had a problem at all. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

What do you think of my new jumpsuit?
Kris replied to StevePhelps's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Sounds like a plan to me. Once the weather evens out, I'm definitely up for a trip. Besides, I've heard there's a jumper in the Tulsa area with a BirdMan suit so I've got to find out who it is, bring my suit, and get some flocking in. ARGH! - please help, separation questions (yet again)
Kris replied to Newbie's topic in Safety and Training
You'd be surprised who's giving that inaccurate factoid out. One very well known freeflyer, with the initials O.K., told a room full of people during a seminar at Skydive San Marcos that it was the best way to ensure separation. Jessica and I looked at each other in bemused shock and had to fight the urge to call you or BillVon. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™ -

What do you think of my new jumpsuit?
Kris replied to StevePhelps's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
That is a seriously nice suit, Steve. I'm not sure how I feel about gills though, even at my size. My last suit had them and I couldn't track for crap in it. I always thought I just sucked at it and kept refining with each jump. Also, I would look between my legs while tracking and notice the gills inflated. Maybe it's just how they're cut on my old suit though. On my new Kurupee (no gills) however, my track has been amazing. Before, I was wallowing around 125 mph in a track. I'm averaging 95-105mph and can actually see the ground rolling beneath me now. My sit and HD speeds have stayed pretty consistent with the new suit as well, even though it's more form-fitting. My sit clocks in around 140-ish and my HD is around 170-185, but I'm still a very green newbie at HD. For grins, I may just tape up the gills on my old Gotcha Covered suit and see how much of a difference it makes. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™ -

Interesting parachute configuration, avoid if possible

I'd use an outside rear riser to steer them further apart then chop. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™ -

I got to fly a Sabre2 190 (loaded at 1.35:1) a couple of months back while my Stiletto was getting repaired and because I wanted to check it out for a BM canopy. I had it for two weeks and put about 9 jumps on it. I found the front riser pressure to be light as well, just a tad bit easier than my Stiletto. I had no problems pulling either riser. The technique I use is to raise my hip on the side of the harness I want to pull the riser on, transferring the weight to the other side. Occasionally, I will also use 1/4 brakes depending on how I am setting up, but usually hip input is all I needed on either canopy. I'm just a newbie swooper however, so there are probably better techniques, that's just what seems to work for me. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Greg from Tulsa is my Rigger and he makes a damn good version of it. I think he's the one that started mass selling them first. I've been through 3 of them. They keep walking off. I just put new Cypres loop material on the one I have using the no-sew finger trap method to replace the worn out line. Definitely better on a closing loop then a pull-up cord. Just don't wear it around your neck when you jump. If something snags it, your neck will fail before the metal or Cypres loop material does. One more thing I almost forgot... there's a reason why skydiving manufacturer's aren't insured, and this is exactly it. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Actually, that coffee wasn't just hot, it was almost boiling. That elderly lady required several surgeries for skin-grafts and had serious toxemia infections as well. But, this case against Precision does smack of an out of control jury and someone who is looking to place the blame. Sorry, unless someone is willfully reckless towards me, I subscribe to the theory of, "You buy your ticket, you take your chances." Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

That's how I packed my Sabre 210 and it's how I pack my Stiletto 190. The size doesn't make a difference. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

There was a student I refused to take last summer. The wheel was spinning but the hamster was definitely dead. This IAD student absolutely refused to listen to anything I tried to tell him and insisted that since he was a pilot that he knew exactly what he was doing and accused me of just being too safe. If I remember correctly, this was after his first practice pull. He wanted to go right to his clear&pull then an immediate full-altitude jump. Just found out the hard way how a slider works
Kris replied to Adriandavies's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
How about with a fully collapsed slider? Last jump of Quincy 2000. I'm in a rush, so I just stuff the canopy into the bag, throw my gear into the car & go. It was a masterpiece 5-minute pack job. Next weekend I go out on a FF dive at my dz with the rig, didn't even think to repack it. Broke at 4500, deployed at 3K. The opening was even harder than the one that shredded my Stiletto a few months back. I was dazed, confused, and wasn't even high. When I finally regained my wits and a little feeling in my legs, I reached up to collapse the slider and I noticed that it already was. The canopy was a Sabre 210. I was sore for a few days, but that was about it. The harness & canopy checked out fine. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
