    The guy was tasered when he turned his back and walked away, completely disobeying the cops instructions....LEGAL instuctions. Maybe what the guy did was disrespectful, belligerent, disobedient.     It's odd how things like this go. When the police first started using tasers, the argument was that they'd only be used as an alternative to deadly force. Hasn't taken that long for the paramaters under which they're used to be broadened, to say the least. I'd like to see 'em go back to those original standards and never use the things unless it's an alternative to deadly force.     To me, as a non-hunter (but not anti-hunter) the good of hunting is in keeping deer off the highways where they try to fuck me and my car up. After the damage done to my vehicle today by a pothole on the interstate, I'm thinking we should open season on the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Dept. Take their orange vests away! Them, a deer...all the same thing as far as I'm concerned. Either one will fuck up my car....lol. When there are a bazillion of them per acre, it's not much different than fencing them in. They're confined either way. In one, hunters keep them from fucking up my car. In the other, my car isn't a variable.     I can care about a lot of things but I have to pick and choose what I actively work on, areas where I make real changes. I *care* about global warming. I *care* about Roe vs. Wade.     I'm very confused about this whole thread, and I think my self-esteem is starting to suffer . I only wear make-up in the winter, because in the summer I rely on sun damage to cover up the other blemishes...lol. So right now, I really shouldn't be high maintenance. However, the past couple of weeks have been baaaaaaad. I think I've been more high-maintenance in the last couple of weeks than ever before in my life, being a general pain in the ass to some really good people.     Some of us are really low maintenance at times, but high maintenance at other times. In those "circling the drain" kinda moments, a person who gets by day-to-day without to much psychic pain imosed on others can sometimes hit one of those downward spirals and become very needed, dependent, things they weren't before in some strange attempt to avoid the centripetal force drawing one down the tubes... I think it's called circling the drain. No matter how needy ya' get, though, or how many hands-up, the ultimate decision to fight the physics or let it take you where it will is up to you.     There's a 16 y/o girl who I've been seeing for a couple years. First she had trich. We had a looooong talk about sex, about sexual pressures, about self-respect, about what STDs are out there, how ya' get 'em, which ones you can get rid of and which ones you can't, how well condoms protect you...and from what....I mean the whole gamut. Then she got herpes....and then chlamydia. Her mother is very involved. They're church people....she's a "believer." She's an A student and a kid for whom her family has had high expectations. Now she's HIV+. Wonder what it is that kept her moving along that path. She knew better. Sometimes people just make stupid choices. -- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged.     It's only been in the last few years that people could not be dropped from group health insurance plans due to their risk factors, and if a person is covered under a group policy and changes jobs, the new company's policy cannot deny them coverage. The same is not true of individual policies. If you're covered under an individual policy and develop a chronic condition that will cost the company too much money, they can drop you like a hot potato. In my mind, Hillary's thinking here moves us back a bit in terms of universal health care.... but maybe I was too lazy to read it all linz -- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged.     People get sick. Some people bring it on themselves. Some people don't. As unfortunate as it is that some people, without a payment source, are stricken with catastrophic disease by no fault of their own, is the fact that there are other people who have health insurance and behave in very self-destructive ways and when it's time to save their asses, the insurance companies foot the bill. Those people are as responsible for rising health-care costs as are the people who expect the rest of us to foot their bill when things go bad. linz -- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged.     we were created to be receptive to God All I think we really know about that is that we were created because a sperm and and an egg joined together and implanted in some woman's uterus who was healthy enough (and willing) to carry the developing young-un to term.
