Science doesn't focus much on temptation as far as I know. That's more within the spiritual realm. But being a little disturbed myself , I know how I make changes...or stop temptation.... When I find myself thinking and feeling and behaving in ways that I neither like nor want to think/feel/act, I make a conscious choice to think differently and to behave differently. I CHOOSE how to think and act. Eventually, over time, how I feel follows. Nothing easy about making changes. Maybe the changes are quicker when God makes 'em. If you are able to forgive someone who did some great injustice against you, that would make you more in the heart of Jesus than you think (not hinting that you already arent) Letting go of the bad things that other people do to you makes it possible to live a happy life rather than a life full of hatred. Depending on your philosophies and beliefs, forgiving others may "make you more in the heart of Jesus." Unfortunately, I don't think the problem is as much in the absolute number of physicians, but more of the number of physicians willing to practice primary care where more physicians are needed. It's difficult to recruit physicians to underserved areas. Even though the income potential for a primary care doc in a rural area is much higher than her counterpart in the city, the work is hard. Hours are long. You have to be able to do a lot of things well (unless you're okay with being mediocre) because there are no specialists in town. Socially, its difficult for a lot of physicians too--you're kinda isolated when you live in the sticks. Were it not for women docs, who are inherently lazy, this would not be a problem...lol. :) linz -- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged. Somebody's little penis got stepped on....must've been a woman. :) Being a woman, working WAAAAAY more than the male physician's average of 53 (???was that a typo?) hours a week--heck, this month I'm on for 354 hours...and that's with one week of vacation--I just had to laugh at this whole silly article. I think it's great that there are female physicians who find a way to manage busy medical practices AND do those jobs that are traditionally neglected by men--raising kids and tending to households. I does kind of piss me off a little when I see how hard I and my female colleagues work, relative to men doing our same jobs, and then hear people putting us down. But I know what I do, and I'm well aware of my reputation as a physician in our area. If some stupid people can't work this out more realistically, then they deserve to out themselves as fools. ANOTHER side of this issue is the question of whether it even matters anyway. Is there some god out there? Is there nothing besides what's here? We can try to convince each other all day long, but our conclusions really don't matter very much, imho. If there is, then great. If not, then that's okay too. We aren't gonna change it by arguing a point until we're blue in the face. The one with the most convincing argument doesn't necessarily have the answer. Amazing! It's also noteworthy that under our current President the number of deaths on US soil due to terrorist attacks has probably been the greatest in US History! AND during the same president's "reign" we've been in a war with no clear goal in which thousands of US and Iraqi citizes have died for no real reason. That makes me sad. Microbrews are good, yeah. Made me think of my other favorite refreshing drink, SWEET TEA! Give me a big glass of sweet tea in the summer in the South on the porch swing. THAT is home. Pickin' and grinnin' at a crawfish boil. A day at a REAL swimmin' hole. Cut-off shorts or skinny dippin'. Either way is fun. Miles and miles of dirt road through these piney woods. If you're "not from here" you're gonna get lost. Somebody'll point the way back to the (or a) main road eventually. I'm kinda liking general aviation too. Federal student loans. Anyone really can achieve whatever she wants to. She may have to work for it, however. :) There's always SOMEONE worse off than you...lol. The drive to just about anywhere is awe-inspiring. This is illogical. But then relativism always is. How can all paths (religions) be equally valid when they contradict each other (as to how salvation, or whatever, is attained)... which they most certainly do? They're equally valid because the benefit is subjective, whether it be salvation, inner peace, enlightenment, or some sort of free pass through life. From your perspective, anyway. Curious as to where you might live, geographically? Sure, from my perspective I don't run across many white people who deny our history of slavery and racism. I live in Denver, CO. I don't run across many people who deny it either. In fact you'll not be too hard-pressed to find someone where I live who is still bitter about Lee surrendering. Makes for some pretty intense distrust. Luckily, those people don't make up the norm, but ya' run across 'em pretty regularly, and they tend to make themselves obvious and their viewpoints known. I like the way the forums are now. The pages are loading LOTS quicker for me. Don't know why. I block all the ads too. It's easy. My only complaint is that every now and then I get this "Gossamer Links" page....the same stuff on the page that would be on the dz.com page I'm trying to access, but laid out differently on this silverish looking page titled "Gossamer Links." That's kind of irritating. But otherwise I think it's good. Edited to add: That "gossamer" thing must have something to do with, maybe, Firefox? Using Firefox, I don't get the ads, but I do get that funky page periodically. Using Safari, I get the ads (which really are no bother as far as I'm concerned...not like they're pop-ups or anything that you have to click out of), but I don't get that other page. Was thinking, with the forum changes and all, that the risk to the psyche posed by interacting with a bunch of jumpers is probably far greater than the loss of a few thousand bones. I think HH should put up warning labels on ALL the forums (in lieu of ads...since folks in BF are already complaining) letting us know that participation in these forums may have serious and lasting psychiatric consequences. Are you saying you're getting paid good money just to screw off? And the real pisser is that I get really out of sorts when I'm not working way too much (typically a good 100 hours/week). So yeah...getting paid good money and not really doing much the last several days. It's a self perpetuating cycle, even though most of us realize ten years after how badly it was wasted on us. If only we could do college at 28 instead of 18. Then it would really be something. Exactly. Its not the "it" that's to blame, but "us." I had some incredible professors over the years--a lot more good ones that not. Wish I had taken better advantage of what was in front of me. You pay the same $$ either way. It IS kind of important, though, after you move on from college to actually move on. Some of that lofty thinking has to be adjusted to work in the actual world...lol. For example, as a woman, I could take what I learned in sociology and social work courses and carry a sign, demand equal pay, and become a vocal member of NOW demonstrating how well I grasp the concepts of inequality in our society. OTOH, I could take my fairly thorough understanding of those same inequities and use it, quietly, to work for me so that I accomplish what I want without alienating at least half of the people I need to be able to work with on a day-to-day basis. Ya' know, skydiving gear is expensive. How can any person with half a brain not realize that sending all that money to some unknown entity might get ya' scammed. If you need a warning sign flashing in your face in order to figure that out, then there's a problem....not with the classifieds section, but with YOU, the buyer and sender of moolah. I think it's absolutely ridiculous to think that we have to have warning labels telling us not to be stupid. There already are warning labels on the classifieds section. If they don?t like what is being offered, DONT take the job or negotiate an offer that is acceptable Yep. I recently accepted a position that was previously occupied by a man. I do have some unique experiences that will be helpful, but I don't have his experience. Told them I needed twice what he was paid. They didn't blink. Gave it to me. Kinda cool how that works. On an unrelated note, I love my Blackberry. Been stuck away from my computer for a couple days. Would sure be boring without something to do.
