and not only will you feel every one of them when you're 40. you'll feel every one of them that happened in your 20's when you're 40. How may skydivers have neck pain???? linz -- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged. A liberal is just a conservative who's been to jail

Do you care about others who oppose you viewpoint?
Lindsey replied to jjiimmyyt's topic in Speakers Corner
Depends on the person, really. If they're respectful then I usually like 'em. If they send me messages calling me names and insulting my intelligence....like saying I'm insane and unable to understand long words (while misspelling simple words like "politer")...then I probably don't have any use for that person. Umm....what was your point???? linz -- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged. A liberal is just a conservative who's been to jail -
Thanks for that post. I'm truly happy for you to have found what is so vital for your life. And thanks for letting the rest of us off the hook :) Peace~ linz -- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged. A liberal is just a conservative who's been to jail

Where the hell do I go to get converted? I met a guy not too long ago who could *potentially* convert you. He and I didn't really work out...lol. But still.... -- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged. A liberal is just a conservative who's been to jail

[I] I told you before, I seek humility and humbleness. When I am wrong, I will tell you. Every ONCE in a while I'm wrong too. Often I don't even know I'm wrong until someone else points it out to me. Humility allows me to see it. -- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged. A liberal is just a conservative who's been to jail

Thank you. Everything you just said demonstrates nicely why our laws should not reflect our ficke ways and moods and times of the month. Good thing we have our federal and state Constitutions to fall back on when our sensibilities fail us...lol. :) linz -- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged. People are fickle. We've already established that you used to think like me (though I kind of doubt it), and I used to think like you. Why should our public policies be determined by some kind of morality that can't keep itself straight??? Morality is dependent on the person and the day, and of course the person's mood that day. I value other people enough to trust their mood that day as much as I trust mine. And I say that as far as morality goes, ain't NONE of us got it right. Because of all that mumbo jumbo, our laws should not favor your ideas over mine or favor the Christian's over the agnostic's or favor the staunchly hetero alpha male over the bull dyke's with a strap-on. Her ideas about who she chooses to spend her life with are even MORE pertinent than mine or yours. And her relationship with her lover should hold equal esteem, under the law, with yours. -- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged. A liberal is just a conservative who's been to jail

[I]but I still believe the core of law is founded on morality. Problem is that morality isn't absolute. It's subjective. Why should your beliefs, or mine, about who should love whom impact other people's lives so dramatically as to keep them from marrying when their beliefs, though in contradiction to yours, are perfectly valid? -- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged. There are lots of things worse than being gay. Heck, look at mean people. They're allowed to marry, and they can even adopt children! Somehow I bet that children are better off with parents who are gay than with parents who are mean and heartless. -- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged. Will This Get the Left Anti Evangelicals Panties In a Bundle?
Lindsey replied to rushmc's topic in Speakers Corner
Calling people "hillbillies" simply reveals that you're a Klansman with a different colored hood. Heck, there's nothing about being called a hillbilly that's offensive. Don't know many hooded people (or any people for that matter) who have wished or enacted harm on a person because he's a hillbilly. That's a whole 'nother problem. The part that's offensive is what was added later about being too uneducated and stupid to make decisions for themselves. I assure you that not many hillbillies around here are THAT. -- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged. A liberal is just a conservative who's been to jail -
My grandfather was injured in WWII, but it was an injury that he fully recovered from relatively quickly. My dad doesn't recall what the injury was, and it's not something he talked about. My grandfather was a Purple Heart recipient. It's hard for me to imagine his physical injury being more apparent or severe than PTSD. -- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged. It doesn't matter if you or I or jesus think that it's wrong for two men to marry, or unnatural, or an abomination of God. Our laws and freedoms should not be based on Biblical morality. I harms nobody for a same-sex couple to marry. They should not be discriminated against based on their sexual orientation. -- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged. LOL. What's kind of funny is that I used to think like you, too. I don't reject Jesus. I think there's a lot to learn from the Bible. But I'm not led through life by the Gospel, and I am open to the lessons and truths that are taught outside the Church. linz. -- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged. There's always a message, and there's always a lesson for each of us to learn. Whether we listen to the Gospel, or that little voice inside, or the Radiant Is, or whatever, the important thing is to learn the things we need to learn. Non-Christians are no less capable of being honest and hearing the truth than Christians are. We're not all working on the same questions, and the same question can have more than one right answer. linz -- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged. A liberal is just a conservative who's been to jail

While the issue of marriage is obviously of some importance, the bigger stride here is that the law recognizes that people cannot be discriminated against because of sexual orientation. THAT is a great big step forward imho. linz -- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged. A liberal is just a conservative who's been to jail

Well, biologically speaking you're right. But I think that falls within the realm of science. LOVE, on the other hand, is a spiritual matter, and greater than science. Maybe if you love enough, you won't need food and water??? But maybe that's kind of what that other family was thinking....you know, the one with the kid who died anyway. linz -- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged. Why is it easier to dislike a Christian than it is to dislike a bhuddist monk? Both could be treating you the exact same, with tenderness and compassion, but one follows Jesus, the other Bhudda. It's not because of their beliefs that people get annoyed with so many Christians. It's their incessant attempts to convince people who are comfortable in their own beliefs that there is only one way to salvation....blah, blah, blah. I'd bet you that there are more than a handful of people on these forums who follow Buddhist teachings, and who are secure in their spiritual lives, who are conspicuously silent when the Christians get started about "faith." Buddhists don't try to convince me that his way is the right way. He does what's right for him and recognizes that others are just as capable of figuring the same out for themselves. :) linz -- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged. A reasonable response might have been to send a note home for the kid's parents and let them hash it out.... There are plenty of options short of suspending a kid from school for refusing to stand for the pledge. They could even make a lesson of it given just a little bit of thought and creativity. Besides the issue of whether it's unconstitutional, the overreaction to a kid's willfulness really bothers me. Suspension????? How about reserving that for violence and behaviors that are actually harmful? The fact that it doesn't enter a principal's mind that a child might have the right NOT to pledge allegiance to the flag is nauseating enough and highlights this educator's lack of understanding of civics. To overreact like he did is a demonstration of his stupidity. -- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged. A liberal is just a conservative who's been to jail

Freedom isn't meaningful if we're only free to do those things that are tasteful to the powers that be. I think it's pitiful that it was only after the kids were suspended that the principal realized that the suspensions might be unconstitutional. That's sad. linz -- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged. A liberal is just a conservative who's been to jail

Yeah, you're probably right, but there are (like with most things) degrees of living by trial and errer. People living by the rules of the Pentecostal church are going to have different outcomes than people living barely within the letter of the law vs those who disregard even the law where their trial and error is concerned. -- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged. My response was to your statement about being against the Gospel despite not having read it. It really doesn't matter if a person has read it or not. What Jesus has to say doesn't matter either if it's the credibility of the Bible that's being questioned. The Bible won't prove that God exists, and it doesn't even provide adequate evidence that Christianity is THE right path. But it does provide something substantial to believers. It gives something that is life-altering, in a good way, to people who need that or want that. I tend to think that what it gives to people is the very same thing that those other texts give to people who follow their teachings....well, except for the kama sutra...lol.... None of them will give any objective proofs. I don't think that's their purpose. But all of them provide a great spiritual foundation and lessons, for people who don't require objective proof of spiritual stuff. -- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged. Have you read the Tao Te Ching? I wonder which way your life would have gone if THAT's the spiritual path you had chosen to follow? Or the Rigveda? Or the Kama Sutra? Or even the Basic Text of Narcotics Anonymous.... There are truths in all of them, lessons that people need, and often instructions so that ya' don't have to live your life by trial and error if you don't want to. linz -- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged.
