Damn, Clay..... Okay....I'm so ashamed.....musta' had BAD BODY POSITION (It's from not gettin' any, I think). Got all twisted up. It was relatively uneventful. Opened up a little out of kilter, lines twisted, me spinning around backward wanting to cutaway. My buddy Britt was flying around down below me, so I waited a few secs for him to get out of my way before I chopped.... It was like, "Damn Britt.....MOVE!" as the spinning became somewhat faster, but not as violent as cutaway #1 a couple years ago. Once he was gone, I chopped and rode my slug of a reserve down for an EXTREMELY uneventful landing....can't swoop a DM135 (gonna have to downsize....lol). Peas! LOL....a few years ago, we were a couple miles from the dz, and I landed in someone's back yard. The homeowner turned out to be one of my best friends from high school, and I hadn't seen her in 15 years! She came outside and was givin' us a hard time. I would be really surprised if people REALLY thought that slavery did not affect lives of African Americans today. It's quite clear that racism exists, and that many people are not allowed equal opportunities because of racism. I can also argue that as a woman I am in a similar situation. In the medical profession it is profoundly obvious. I recognize that inequities exist, and I do not like them. I also realize that the history of women in this country has shown that through a continued struggle, we are approaching acceptance in most arenas today as we have shown ourselves to be extremely competent as people...NOT because we demanded retribution, but because we have proven and are proving ourselves to be competent. I do not believe in my lifetime that the same opportunities will exist for me that exist for my male counterparts, and while I am accepting of that (as I recognize the reality in it) I will continue to work especially hard to prove my value in the work I have chosen and in other areas of my life. In my child's lifetime, I expect those inequities to be less significant....and so on. No amount of retribution can change the past. For many people it has been unfair. But working towards resolution through merit today goes a lot further than demanding that people today pay for other people's actions 100 or 200 years ago....or more. Expecting retribution, imho, only deepens the wedge that is driven between us. Though I do understand very well the issues of racism, sexism, and most other -isms, it makes me downright angry for someone to feel entitled to what I have earned. And while what my brother has earned may have been at my expense, I prefer the satisfaction I have in earning my OWN to the shame I would feel in taking what he has earned. My thoughts on jumping the old worn out manta: I would not hesitate to jump it, myself, because it's friggin HUGE. I would expect that even a worn out canopy that big is gonna land ya' fine. Let me preface this by saying that I am a fun jumper ONLY. I have neither instructional ratings nor a riggers ticket, but several years of experience. It use to be fun to watch my buddy Mark wrap the brake lines a few time so that he could land his old.....Cruiselite, I think.... That thing was so OLD, and he always stood up his landings....was pretty damn impressive actually....heh. He had it in an old Racer with capewells. It had a big yellow hazard sign affixed to the poptop, which also had all kinds of pilot chute material sticking out from under it....lol....this was only about 5 or 6 years ago.... I have to say, he's probably one of my favorite people I've met in my 9 years of skydiving.

I didn't go back and re-read your other posts, but these problems seem to be the kinds of problems people who are dating, but not in committed relationships have. It sounds like a good time to revisit what the relationship is based on and what kind of connection the two of you have. Most people don't all the sudden develop a weight problem, lack of discipline, and abrasive behavior when they start skydiving. You probably know what the REAL problem is, and I doubt it's those things....probably something a little deeper. Or maybe you've changed somehow, and you want her to change with you....but some good soul searching will probably yield the answer you're looking for.
