I've known plenty of people, from my social work days, whose life goal it seems is to find a reason to sue someone as a means to get cash. I don't think it's always that something bad happened and it's somebody else's fault, but rather "somebody did something that I *might* be able to sue them for...and win." This is my senior year in medical school, and I finally have time to jump. No money, but time. I'm also a mom, so when I would've had time in the first 3 years to jump, I usually spent it with my child. Medical school takes a lot of work, but you can still have a life.... I usually studied one day on the weekends during the first 2 years and took the other day completely off. I usually studied anywhere from 3-6 hours/day. The upper GI will be a little uncomfortable, but not too bad....a little Versed goes a long way to helping you relax. If you have ulcers, the antacids may not be enough to help. If your poop starts looking black, go on in to see someone before then. It's a sign that an ulcer may be bleeding He may want to do at ultrasound to look at your gallbladder if he doesn't see anything with the EGD.... I went to my 20 yr reunion this past summer, and it was so much fun to see everybody! I was shocked at the people who had died. Sometimes when people think they have heartburn, there's something else going on. I'm assuming that you've seen your primary care doctor? You've had bloodwork done? Cholesterol checked? Some things that antacids won't help that may feel like heartburn.... Gallstones! Cardiovascular problems. How's your cholesterol? Problems related to lungs or pleura... If it's heartburn that you've noticed for a few months (came on pretty suddenly?), then it's probably not just reflux. and removing AA would either be a great start for a new era and a true testament to humanity or it could ruin african-americans indefinitly. and I bet that the result would depend on the degree to which African Americans embraced the challenge and chose to excel. That's why I use FedEx. Never a problem with those folks HA!!! Christmas....I ordered a jacket for my mother and had it shipped FedEx overnight. Well....two days later, Dec. 23rd I still didn't have the package. I went to tracking to find that it had been sitting for over 24 hours 45 miles away. I called FedEx customer service, and they informed me that because there had been delays in Memphis a couple days ago that I wouldn't have my package by Christmas. I explained that the roads between my house and where the package was were clear and that I had paid for the package to be sent overnight. Here's where it's good. He argued, saying that LLBean had paid for it to be shipped overnight, and that I'd have to take it up with them!!!!! OOOOOOH! Was I HOT! Never got the package. hrmmmm..... point taken, I just want the black population to become associated and identified as Americans, so that the term "african-american" can have a real meaning, relating to and as a positive cultural reference as oppose to a era of egressing freedom. I want us to have a hand in decisions made for the country. I want black input on market trade, territory, and finance prospection. Not for curing the needs of black people in america though, but for the purpose of all americans. There are not enough black people with political power to give insight on %15 of the nations population. I completely agree. There is a definate unbalance in the economic and power structure of our country. Women feel this lack of balance too....black women more than white. In solving the problem, though, I don't know that a different unfair situation (Affirmative Action, in my mind) balances the already unfair situation. I don't know that such a system is what's going to solve the problem. When I look at the progress that has been made over the past decades, I am hopeful that with time and perseverance the system will continue to right itself. I recognize that the average woman will have to work harder than the average man to achieve the same status. That's not fair, but I'm willing to work hard to achieve that. I believe that it will be minorities proving themselves over time that will correct the situation....way before minorities accepting hand-outs will. One problem with this argument is that even today the laborers, whose work provides our economic base, are not the ones who profit from their labor. Their children, children's children, children's children's children, etc. do not reap the financial benefits either. That money still belongs to the upper echelon. I'm not minimizing the terrible toll that slavery took on many, many people. But I just wanted to point out that, even without slavery, field workers at that time (even if paid a wage) would not have been the people in control of the large sums of money that provided the US economic base. That still doesn't void the fact that slaves built the US economic --->BASE

When I was jumping regularly, I worked a lot on RW with the same 4 people, and got pretty good at 4-way. I think those were quality jumps, even though none of us had extremely high jump numbers. I think it will be wonderful if democracy is established in Iraq. I'll be especially glad that something good has been accomplished from this HUGE faux pas of ours. Besides the good that may come for the people of Iraq, we'll save face at some level, and that will be good too. However....just because good comes of it, it will NEVER mean that we were (or Bush was) right. The stated purpose of our invasion was national security. Turns out that we didn't need to defend our national security. So we were wrong. Improved conditions for Iraqis will be good, but to backstep and say, "There....see, we were right all along...." If you have an outer ear infection, changes in pressure will not be an issue. If you have an inner ear infection, then changes in pressure are not good. Just wanted to second what you said (except the brain being a muscle thing....) Also, it seems I'm always on some rant about people taking responsibility for themselves....when our kids learn in their schools that the onus falls completely on the public schools for them to succeed (and not on themselves as students) then we mold them into less responsible adults. We have way too many people, imho, who believe that it is society's responsibility to pave their way. I hate for that kind of attitude to be put in my child's psyche as he comes up through the school system. I have to add, that I don't mean to say that our schools are doing a bad job. I'm pleased with what the public schools in our area are doing for my child. linz I disagree. The brain is a muscle, not a bucket. Our schools are suffering from low expectations, not too high of expectations. I've heard some parents lament to the teachers that they don't want their children to have to do any "hard work or memorization." I'd prefer not to have my childred dumbed down to that level. I was lucky enough to go to a school with a classical curriculum including Latin. Yes, a lot of memorization, but it made English and other languages much simpler to study in the future. I don't feel a moment of it was wasted (until they invented the internet chat room). As far as whether the tongue was in cheek or not with the administrator, all I can say is, it seems the higher you go in any organization, the more likely the people are out of touch with what's happening at the level where the job gets done, whether it's a classroom, factory, or coal mine. Last, but not least, there is a lot of "self-esteem" boosting done in the schools today. Some believe that self-esteem can be handed out with one cheap award or another. My wife and I have seen much of that in our four childrens' schools. Self-esteem can't been given to someone. It comes from trying to do the difficult, and accomplishing those goals, not from being handed a warm, fuzzy teddy bear. -- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged. heh....when I flew back in November, I was chosen for the more extensive search 2 out of the 3 flights of my trip. I was carrying my rig in a small gear bag with the rest of my gear checked. Leaving Philadelphia, as I stood spread-eagle being searched, a big guy walked over holding my rig up...."Ma'am, does this belong to you?" "Yes, sir." "Is it a parachute?" "Yes sir." "Do you use this to jump off of bridges?" "No sir. Airplanes." "Ma'am, do you intend to wear this on your flight?" "No sir." LOLOLOL!!!!! All of that with such a serious look on his face. and freedom of speech does not require a college to provide the invitation.... It's the most objectionable opinions that the First Amendment protects. The guy has a right to speak his mind.
